I’m a licensed plumbing contractor who purchased an Onyx shower system here. I was not subcontracted by Handyman — they were the material supplier only.

During the job, the homeowner told me Handyman referred them to another installer from a referral list at the front counter, and another contractor was brought in mid-project. Whether management “personally spoke” to the homeowner or not, the result was the same: a supplier’s referral process inserted another contractor into an active installation, creating confusion and forcing me to step away to protect liability.

Also worth noting: the referral list shown in-store included only a small number of licensed plumbers, which is a concern for plumbing-related shower work.

Contractors and homeowners should be aware of this before doing business here.

A residential A/C unit purchased at A Y McDonald Supply, lasted 1 year before failing in August of 2024 and with temps being as high as 110°.

The product is covered by a 10-year warranty on registered products and 5 years on unregistered products.

The failed part was the coil. (In doing product research, it appears as though this is definitely not the first time these coils have failed)

The part failed in August. As of today, October 29th, (2 MONTHS LATER), I still can't get that part. Another air conditioning unit had to be purchased elsewhere because AY McDonald's products aren't to be trusted, and neither is their product and customer support.

I tried to get the unit replaced. They say... because it's not an emergency, they will not warranty the part.

This is the warranty language used to cover this product.

Parts warranty
The parts warranty is 10 years if the product is registered within 90 days of installation and 5 years otherwise. The warranty only applies to the original purchaser and subsequent transferees.

This warranty covers replacement of major components like the compressor, coil, or heat exchanger. The length of the warranty depends on the product line: 10 years for top-of-the-line products, 5 years for mid-tier products, and 1 or 3 years for standard-level products.

Choose your supplier wisely. This isn't one I'd ever choose again.

Bad storm came through town affecting a lot of people and they came through quickly to get it figured out for us! Awesome service and good people.

They were there at a moments notice day or night , knew what they were doing, and don’t charge ridiculous prices like some of the other shops in town. Highly recommend.

Dan and Jordan were very friendly and quick to respond. I had a couple of toilet drains clogged in my home and needed someone over ASAP due to water overflow and leaking. They responded and were over within the hour.

Dan was able to identify the problem straight away and unclog the main obstruction. Due to water leaking passed a flange upstairs and into the basement he allowed us to borrow two fans for a handful of days to dry it out.

To top it off, he reinstalled the toilet and informed me of what I needed to do to prevent the problem from reoccurring. And was very fair on price. Very respectable.

another plumbing company told me I had to dig my sewer up and replace it. Dr. Rooter came out and fixed my problem without having to dig up sewer, for one percent of the cost of what they were trying to charge me I will refer them to anyone that needs an honest plumber thank you again Dr. Rooter
