Constraction reviews in Allen, Texas

Tom came over for inspecting my home' foundation. You seldom come across people with his level of integrity and knowledge these days. He explained how the measurements are made and interpreted before he started. He showed us the measurements as he made them and told us that there was nothing wrong with our foundation. He did not even charge us for his services as there was nothing wrong with foundation. Can you believe that??
I very strongly recommend Tom as I believe he is honest, knowledgeable and a person of high integrity. His recommendations are not driven by monies but exactly what is required by situation.
THANKS TOM!!! -
Wonderful service. I was scared that I might have some major foundation repair. They came out and did all full diagnostics and only found a 1/4 of an inch difference for a house that is 30 years old.
Nothing needed to be done.
Highly recommend! -
Tom was one of the nicest and most honest men I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. He was prompt and had even offered to come early the day of our appointment. He somehow remembered that he had done the foundation work on our house for the previous owner (we had no idea!) and proceeded to check our home for foundation issues.
We had another company come out the month prior and they had quoted us $28,000 (not including the damage they would do to our floor) for 41 piers that we supposedly needed because our house had moved 2 inches on 3 sides. Tom showed me on his device how our house was barely a quarter of an inch difference on all sides, well within standard deviation.
He was appalled that this other company was going to scam us out of nearly $30k for essentially nothing. When I asked him what we needed to do because of the slight shifting he said that we didn't need to do anything! Our house's foundation was perfectly fine, the few issues that we had had over the summer were normal for Texas soil.
He could very easily have quoted me half of the other company (I told him about it) and I would have been ecstatic, but rather than doing that he told me the truth and made no money because of it.
He saved me and my wife $28,000 or more because he runs an honest business. Dodson Foundation is the only company I will recommend and if we ever do need any work done, the only company I will use. 10/10. -
This is the second time, I had Tom Dodson and Misty come out to inspect our foundation. Fortunately, our cracks were due to the shifting of the foundation and all the measurements were within the accepted range. The entire experience with them is a pleasant one - from arriving on schedule, being polite and professional and above everything honest. They didn't sell us anything that was not needed. I highly recommend them to anyone looking to get their foundation inspected or worked upon.

I cannot recommend this company strongly enough for its honesty, integrity, and expertise. I called them after I had conflicting plans/bids from other reputable foundation repair companies, and just wanted another opinion. The owner (Tom) who has significant expertise in home construction and foundation repairs came to my home and showed me every measurement and we both concluded that I only needed about half of the number of piers that the other guys recommended. This saved me over $5,000. I just had the job done late last week and they did a great job preserving landscaping plants, and putting the yard back together like it was before they got there. They also offer a lifetime transferable warranty. Great Experience.

Tom Dodson and his team provided quality and professional service at a fair price. We received several quotes and while Dodson’s was comparable with the number of piers that others suggested, his price was significantly lower. We chose to get an independent engineer evaluation and when there was a slight discrepancy in the placing of piers, Tom walked through his reasoning for why we needed each of the specific pier and respectfully followed what we as homeowners felt comfortable with. During the process a gas line was nicked and Tom personally came out to oversee the situation and apologize to us for the inconvenience. It was quickly resolved and the final product of his team’s work was great.

Seeing cracks in walls and around windows is pretty concerning especially when you are new to the whole idea of foundation shifting. I called Tom and asked for an evaluation of the "issues" that I was seeing. Tom explained the evaluation process, the causes of what I was seeing, and then had me walk with him as he took measurements. The result of his evaluation and measurements indicated that, yes, we had cracks, but no, we did not have an issue that required foundation repair. It is so refreshing to speak with someone of his character. It would have been easy for him to sell me service that I didn't need simply because I know nothing about foundations.
The point beind this: If you have foundation experts telling you that you need repair work, listen closely to what they tell you.
Then, call Tom to get the truth. -
In today’s market, there are so many contractors to choose from for any job you need done. All of them are tying to gain your business, and many of them will tell you all kinds of things in order to get as much money from you as possible. This can make it hard to find the ones that truly stand above the rest. Those that will give you a personalized, honest, and fair assessment of work that is needed and costs. This was our experience when looking for the right people to do our foundation work. I had multiple companies come out and assess my property to get estimates, and each one gave me wildly different assessments of what work I needed to have done, and what it would cost. Not knowing much about foundation work, I was not happy with the inconsistencies I was getting.
Enter Dodson Foundation Repair. I called to schedule a no cost estimate and expected more of what I had gotten: a random salesperson trying to diagnose my issues and sell as much work as they possibly could at the same time. This is where I got everything I was not expecting. I answered the door to find that the owner, Tom Dodson and his VP Misty came to do the inspection. He told me he could tell my property was in need of work just by looking as he walked up the driveway. But he didn’t stop there, he took me around as he conducted the inspection, and pointed out exactly what he saw and why it mattered. Suffice it to say our needs were more complicated than a standard inspection. Nonetheless, Tom explained everything he found, and explained how everything works structurally. His assessment was straightforward and his prices were fair and competitive. I could tell his assessment came from his experience, and not trying to sell me everything he could. What’s more, he told me he does all inspections personally. I knew I could trust him and his crew to not only do the work, but do it right and not clean me out doing it.
Fast forward to the day of the work, the crew was on time and very efficient. They worked all day but were able to complete the work in a day. They took pictures of all my landscaping before the work and made sure to replace it exactly like it was when they finished. They were up front that some of the bushes may or may not survive, but so far they have survived the transplant well. They cleaned up the work area very thoroughly after the finished and it looks like they were never here. Communication with Tom and Misty was outstanding throughout the process and they were completely transparent.
A house is one of the largest investments one will make in life, and it’s huge relief knowing that even in this fast and furious crazy market, there are still companies out there who strive to “do it the right way”
I cannot recommend Dodson Foundation Repair enough!! Well done! -
After years of avoiding getting our foundation checked because of the negative reputation most foundation companies have, I want other doubters to know, Dodson Foundation does not give any of the questionable vibes. Tom and Misty came out to evaluate the house and straight out said everything is fine. They talked me through what to look out for in the future and offered their services again, if ever needed, but they spoke without any salesmanship behind it. Based on my experience, if you want to work with an honest company, this is the one.

Tom came to my house to do an evaluation and explained to me in plain terms how to identify foundation problems using his measurement equipment. He did not try to sell me any services and gave his expert opinion on the problems I wanted to check.
He is an honest person that genuinely cares about the homeowner. Did I mentioned it was a rainy day and they showed on time as promised? Call them when you need foundation repairs. -
I've known Tom Dodson now for over 6 years and I can tell you he's everything you want in a reputable contractor and rarely can find. Tom installed 31 piers in my house 6 years ago. Now we're remodeling another room and I wanted some piers installed there while the floor was torn up. Tom actively tried to tell me I didn't need them, but I wanted them to prevent future movement. Additionally we measured the entire house and the entire area he piered 6 years ago didn't move at all! His crews are nice and respectful and clean up completely after their work, you would never know they were there! He stands behind his warranty, when others don't. If you think you need foundation work, call Tom - you'll be glad you did!

I had a foundation issue and my neighbor suggested Dodson Foundation Repair company. After a few inspections and estimates with other companies, I called Tom Dodson’s company. I was so impressed with how knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and very experienced Tom Dodson was. He explained everything to me clearly and gave me an estimate that was so reasonable, unlike the few estimates I got from other companies! The work is done expeditiously and I couldn’t be happier! Amazing crew, very efficient, and the clean up was so amazing, I can’t even tell all that major construction took place at all! Tom took the so stressful and with my lack of experience, confusing problem, and gave me a peace of mind by taking care of my foundation problem!
Recommend his services a 100%.

I had 3 estimates and bids. I strongly suggest if you're looking at foundation repair you do the same. Call any other 2 you want and then call Tom Dodson, especially if you have an older home (30+ years)
I'm going to name names. I called Williamson and Fortress and they came out first. ALL 3 basically said the same thing, got the same measurements and just about the same work estimate, with a few exceptions - which are as follows.
Williamson - wanted to put in 22 piers which included 6 on the inside. If you have to do inside they jackhammer through the foundation and a one day job now takes 3-4 days and not to mention the flooring needs to come up-- then reinstalled after at your cost. The highest price $17K +10K if I wanted to have the piers installed via tunnelling. I felt this was a run up in general.
Fortress - I can't stress this enough - I liked Sam and Fortress. Sam recommended fewer external piers (which made sense based on the measurements) but also the 6 inside. However, we discussed an alternative with Polyfill that can be done via drill holes that is minimally invasive - $9600 - Would recommend strong consideration of Fortress if Tom Doesn't float your boat.
Then Tom came out - He was the only one that basically said come with me look at the numbers (even through I knew what they were going to be) He talked me through what he was doing and what he was thinking. Similar/same pier count as Fortress. As far as inside Tom explained that he's sure if I had other quotes that they recommended inside piers. He thoroughly explained to me why he's not. He illustrated that if we raised the inside of the house that it WOULD cause more damage. After a good talk about it right wrong or otherwise I was convinced. NOT because he was going to be the cheapest and I didn't want to pull up my floor or some other alternative---I mean I was going to do what I needed to do, but because you can hear and feel his experience. He admittedly knows his niche in the market and it's with the older homes.
His crew came out and did a great job 9am-3pm 13 piers. Leveled, stabilized, cleaned, and left it better than before.
Tom to me was genuine, I do wish he was a little more tech savvy but that's ok. Now it's just a waiting game - to let it all settle and see what's what...but for not cracks are closed, floors are level and I'm extremely satisfied. -
Tom came to our home in Plano to address some concerns we had with our foundation. He was very timely and professional, explaining the entire process. He encouraged us to come with him through the entire (and extensive) inspection, explaining what he was looking at and listened to our concerns. He advised that we did not need any repairs and how we could watch for any future issues, He was polite and very personable. Highly recommended.

I really cannot say how happy I am after I called Mr. Dodson and he came out to inspect my foundation. I was expecting him to tell me I need piers around the house, but that was not the case. He told me I have no issues with my foundation and whatever crack line I saw in one area in the sheet rock is normal and cosmetic. Anyone else could have easily taken advantage of the situation and charged me few thousand dollars.
Thank you Mr. Dodson for your honesty. I will most definitely recommend you to others. -
We had several companies come look at our house and quote us super high prices. Dodson Foundation has fair prices. Tom was so kind to me and honest. He listened to all my questions about the situation and made me feel at ease. His team were so nice and work hard. I was amazed at how fast they put in 39 piers. They cleaned everything up and put plants and rocks back in the right spots. They even used the extra dirt and put it in some low areas in my yard that needed the dirt. 4 months after buying our house we found out it needed 39 piers. It was a very stressful time for our family. I'm so very thankful for Dodson Foundation. I recommend them to everyone.

Tom is excellent. I highly recommend Dodson for any questions you have about your foundation. I’ve worked with three different companies in the DFW area and Dodson was the most responsive and they spent the most time evaluating my foundation and answering any questions I had. Two of my neighbors also had work done by Dodson and highly recommended Tom when I asked who I should work with. I plan to recommend Tom to all my friends and family in the Dallas area who need foundation work. Tom’s assessment gave me peace of mind and he was the most thorough. Some other contractors I met with… well, their recommendations didn’t all add up but Tom was able to explain the seasonal movement that can happen in a climate like ours and help me understand how to best take care of my home. He did not try to sell me something I didn’t need. I’m so glad my neighbors sent me his direction! Thank you, Tom!

I had a great experience with Dodson Foundation Repair. They came out to inspect the foundation of my 20-year-old home, did a thorough evaluation, and were completely honest about the results. They could have easily told me I needed expensive repairs, but instead, they reassured me that my foundation was in good shape and no work was needed. It's rare to find a company these days that values honesty over making a quick sale. I highly recommend Dodson Foundation Repair to anyone looking for trustworthy, knowledgeable professionals who truly have your best interests in mind.

Tom Dodson did an inspection of our foundation and found that our house was in excellent shape and no pillars were needed. Another company had done the same inspection a week before and told us we needed $30,000 worth of work or our house would collapse. Mr. Dodson did not use scare tactics or hard sales tactics. He explained everything in detail. His philosophy is we are here to help each other. And that’s been his business model for 40 years and why he receives excellent reviews. Thank you Mr Dodson!

Tom and Misty have been great to work with. Our neighbor Fb page highly recommend Dodson foundation and I am glad we used them. Process was easy and the warranty follows the home. They are honest and everything is in writing. I’d use him if ever we have another need.

Met Tom Dodson, and was very impressed with his knowledge, experience, professionalism and courtesy.
After measuring around my home, he asked why did I thought I needed any foundation repair in the first place! I showed him the small cracks in one place on the pantry tiles, and a small gap that’s developed around a window caulking.
He asked to see measurements (not quote) from the other 2 top local companies I had come before Tom. He looked them up and pointed that although there were little differences in foundation elevation around my home, all the differences were within manufacturer and engineering specs! Essentially, repairs could be done, but for the little differences that exist for now, repairs are absolutely unnecessary! The little crack and caulking gap I am seeing is from how my foundation has shifted in the last 15 years since construction, and there is no way to tell if all the shifting is done, or more will come later. So, he was very clear I didn’t need foundation repair, and advised me to pay him Zero Dollars!
Tom saved me the money and the headache. He didn’t sell me something I didn’t need, and it’s amazing he chose to be honest instead of being opportunistic. So, although he didn’t repair my foundation, if I ever need help, he is the only person I will ever call for help. What an awesome guy and what a gentleman!
Good job Tom… the world needs good people like you!
