Had an appointment for between 12-1 and was told they would call before arriving but was not told they would call 2 hours before. I did not have my phone beside me at 10 am and when i saw they called I called them back with in 20 minutes and was told very rudely that if you do not answer the phone on 2 tries from them they cancel the appointment. I tried to reschedule and was told again very rudely they were to busy and hung up on me. Needless to say I will not be recommending this company to anyone and after reading other reviews I am glad I did not use them.

Paid to have chimney inspected and cleaned, but Charles & Sons didn't even open the ash dump door to clean out the pile of ashes.

When I called to report the "oversight", I was told they would return in two days to complete, still waiting.
Sent several text and left message and no response.

VERY UNPROFESSIONAL and FULL SERVICE NOT RENDERED!!

Great people, able to come out fast, on time (early!), very clean, and made sure I knew how to do everything safely. Thanks so much to Charlie and co. They were so great and kind and I knew my fireplace was in good hands. And a top hat to boot!

BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY. Something just isn't right here. Called and set up appointment 10 days out in December (when 3 other companies were booked until Feb ~ this should have been my red flag). He asked me to text him my address and name and the date and time we had agreed upon which I did immediately. He responded with a thank you and prayer hands emoji a bit later. The day he is was supposed to show up and call within 30 minutes of arrival, I heard nothing. I texted him and heard nothing so I called and he answered. I asked if he was coming and he acted a bit bewildered for a moment and then said "you didn't send me your phone number so I couldn't call you", and something about driving all the way out to DS without knowing I was there. Um, I sent him a text giving you my phone number. He again acted confused and then accused me of not doing as he had requested and sending him my phone number. What?? Also said I was the reason he had to lay off an employee today, the day before Christmas. WTH? The whole thing just odd. He did hang up on me when he couldn't answer how he didn't have my number when he responded to my text. After reading other reviews, I realize he has a pattern of odd behavior and has not a bit of business sense or customer service.

DON'T ever use these people!! They came out to clean my chimney less than a month ago. I started experiencing smoke filling up my house, so bad I had to open doors and turn on the fans. I called Charles and he argued that he could not help the condition in my house. I said "What condition?" He kept asking me what I wanted him to do. I said either come back and clean my chimney, or refund my money. He told me he would have to charge me again. I said "Why would I pay you again for a job that was not done right in the first place." He hung up on me!!!

Charles and crew came out to clean the chimney they did a great job, they went on the roof to inspect the chimney and took a picture to let me know what was going on, after they were finished they left the fireplace clean and the area around it clean to. Charles did a smoke test for me to show me that my chimney was drawing correctly he even showed me how to operate the damper. Great experience highly recommended.

Called regarding house I was doing some cosmetic work on before moving in. Got a quick response, quick visit to the house. The inspection seemed thorough, didn't try to sell me unnecessary services. Identified one problem with chimney vent, it's a metal prefabricated fireplace, had the problem fixed within a week at a fair price. They even wear the traditional top hat.

I used them for years and they replaced my chimney in my new house. When we started having problems with the new damper, we scheduled an appointment with them and they never showed up. Called for weeks, maybe months, afterward to try to get them to reschedule - nothing. One time they accidentally called my number back so I know they were there and getting the messages. A year later and still no word. I am paying someone else to fix my chimney now so I'm making sure people know that I was let down by this company. It's a shame because we enjoyed working with them when they were responsive and responsible. Not sure what's happened but I can't even come close to recommending them now.

If I could give negative rates I would - we have dealt with many repairmen, builders, painters, ...and by far, Charles and his crew are the worst! They did a very bad job replacing the chimney cap and charged a fortune (close to 2600). The job was horrible to the point that after two years of noise and water down the chimney, we got really fed up - we called a reputable company and they got rid of all Charle's work and started from scratch - I had also found the communication with him entirely unprofessional. A very bad experience and a lot of money for nothing.

I’ve been getting my chimney swept for 10 years from Charles and his company. Every year I receive an excellent job, they’re friendly, honest and always on time. Charles is very informative of his job and you can tell he loves what he does. And I loved his chimney top hat! Reason I’m writing a review is that I was amazed this year at how they used a drone to take video inside of my chimney so I could see exactly what’s going inside. That and the photos really made me feel like I was part of the whole process. Definitely recommend this company over others.

Area Wide Chimney Sweep came out today to clean my dryer vent and chimney. They called and text when they were on the way. They arrived on time, were very professional and did a great job. They ran into a problem with my dryer vent and worked very hard at getting it resolved. I truly appreciated the hard work and will call them in the future to service my home again.

On November 28, Area wide Chimney sweep serviced my dryer duct. Two days later, I noticed the roof tile around the Dryer duct cap dislodged and appeared to be loose, so I called Charles Fisk the Manager and owner. He was very difficult to talk to. He argued about what is covered under warranty and what is not, and said I would have to pay extra for him to come out and look at what I was telling him. then he hang up on me. Also, the service was horrible....the lint from the dryer was blown all over my yard and even the neighbors. Folks beware!!! the service was horrible. I would not recommend Charles and his company to anyone. Very disappointed indeed!!!

Area Wide did an amazing job cleaning out our chimney! They were kind, quick, professional and left everything cleaned up! Highly recommend!
