Beware of Fraudulent Practices - My $26,000+ Lesson with Reliant Plumbing

I had an extremely disappointing and financially damaging experience with Reliant Plumbing that I feel compelled to share so others can avoid the same mistake.

In April 2025, I contacted Reliant Plumbing to inspect a water leak from the exterior wall behind my kitchen. After a quick inspection, they quoted me $6,950 and began excavation outside my home. Midway through the work, they abruptly stopped and presented a new quote--$26,519.45--for a full kitchen line replacement, claiming the issue was severe. They asked me to apply for financing on the spot through Synchrony, which was instantly approved, and the full amount was charged immediately.

Concerned by this sudden escalation, I sought a second opinion from my home builder's contractor (Mustang Plumbing), who found the real issue--a simple nail puncturing the pipe in the wall. They removed the nail, sealed the pipe, and the leak was resolved within hours for a total cost of $250. Reliant's extensive dig, inflated quote, and diagnosis were completely false and unnecessary.

I emailed Reliant requesting a refund. In response, a representative named Jonathan visited and promised a full refund if I paid $2,930 for site restoration. I paid--yet the refund was never processed. Despite promises and documentation, Reliant Plumbing has ignored follow-ups and failed to honor their commitment. I followed up multiple times via emails, text messages, calls, only to hear that someone from management will contact me to resolve this. And that never happened. No one from Reliant Plumbing ever called to resolve this.

This isn't just about the money--it's about a deliberate misdiagnosis, pressure tactics to secure on-the-spot financing, and refusal to refund after admitting fault. I have reported the case to the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners, and I strongly advise others to stay away from this company.

Dishonest, unethical, and utterly unprofessional.

I had a plumbing problem. Alex Matej was the service tech. He explained, in detail, what needed to be done. He kept me informed as to what he was going to do. He was very knowledgeable, great personality!!! Very concerned .very nice. He solved my problem quickly . Alan and Luis were quick, knowledgeable, and professional! I had a serious leak that was flooding my house, and they came by right away and resolved the issue the same day. They also walked me through all my questions, and were very pleasant to work with. I really appreciate the excellent service during a very stressful home issue!

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE job. I am still in an ongoing dispute with Reliant over a disastrous repiping project that has cost me over $32,000 to try and fix the damages they caused. I hired them on March 29th, and now, nearly five months later in August, I am still dealing with the damage and financial loss caused by their negligence.

The contract included repiping the entire house, relocating the water heater to the garage, and removing the old units.

I refused to sign off on the job until we could inspect their work, yet Reliant charged the remaining $16,000 without my authorization. Once we checked, the problems were overwhelming:
-Pipes were left exposed outside of a wall.
-Pipes in the front yard were left uncovered, with piles of dirt abandoned in our yard.
-A pipe began leaking within two days, soaking an entire wall.
-The entire sprinkler system is messed up.

After paying to repair drywall and tile, we discovered the bathtub didn’t work because Reliant never turned the water back on.

We contacted them repeatedly. They dodged calls or said someone would call us back, but not one did. They missed multiple appointments and did not return to our house for two weeks, forcing us to live with ongoing damage. When they finally came back, they tore into the newly repaired drywall and tile again.

After repeated failures, we sent a formal demand letter for damages. Their manager, Mark, agreed the work was unacceptable, said the workers should be fired, and promised a $6,000 refund for damages and the incomplete water heater relocation. He postponed multiple times, claiming banking delays, but no refund has ever been issued.

This company’s conduct has been deceptive, unprofessional, and financially devastating. What should have been a routine repiping project turned into months of damage, stress, and financial loss.

Reliant Plumbing cannot be trusted. They take your money, leave work unfinished, and refuse to honor agreements. I strongly urge you to avoid this company entirely.

We had the pleasure of having Brody come to our home to fix a leak and replace a part on our toilet. Needless to say the entire experience was top notch. He was professional, courteous and patient. He went above and beyond. I highly recommend Reliant over Salt anytime. Their service is by far better and more cost efficient. Thanks Brody!

I am impressed with Reliant’s team’s professionalism and communication skills. We had an AC drain clogged and needed help urgently. The whole team coordinated to make it happen as quickly as possible. It was for a residential property. Not easy to find plumbers to take jobs this challenging and this fast. Thank you!

Sean, Brant, and Jerrad were all great! I needed a new water heater and they helped me every step of the way. The gave me options, kept me informed and did what they said they would. They were all kind, professional, on time and just generally good guys. Ask for them by name!!!!

Brody was so helpful and went out of his way to help us identify our issue. The company was also very easy to schedule with and came same day, even though it was not great weather. We’ll definitely use Reliant again and will request Brody!

They called me back within less than 24 hours. Send a wonderful technician out Brandon to come and help with my toilet clog. He even gave me $100 discount. For a good review and being a senior So to any seniors who need a good plumber out there in a low cost price choose alliance. They really are reliable.!

AI booking assistant is broken. Throws you into a call loop preventing human interaction. It’ll schedule you for a call, and no one shows (happened 3 times now). With enough time, you can finally get a human, but still, no one shows up to the house. They need help right now. Been without hot water since the freeze a few weeks ago. They did an initial repair, but didnt work and can't get anyone back out. I’ll update this review if/when they are able to fix this significant issue.

UPDATE: It's been another week. Reliant did finally show up, but broke my 2nd water heater in the process of trying to fix my 1st water heater. Then they tried to charge me $2,200 to fix the 2nd water heater that was working before they pulled parts off it to fix the 1st water heater. Now, they cant seem to find where the replacement part was, I've been scheduled 3 times and no one shows up. I try and get someone to call me, but no one does, or they do so days later.

I've been asking for someone with authority to call me, but no one does. I strongly recommend calling any other company in the area. I guess this company grew too fast for their own good, and has completely imploded.

This isn't an isolated experience, unique to me. Each technician that's showed up has confirmed this company is a mess.

And now I've been without hot water for a month, and that's acceptable to this company.

FINAL UPDATE:
I was finally able go get them to fix the 2nd water heater they broke. Days later, they tried to collect $$ for a new water heater, which was never installed (just a replacement part). Even after all this, they tried to over charge me for a service not completed.

If you use this company, make sure you document everything they do, and who's performing what. They'll try ever trick in the book to get more money than they're owed!

Daniel quickly identified the issue (missed by another company) and provided a quote for repairs. Since I have worked with concrete, I did the demo work and let them deal with plumbing.

Omar and Anthony came out and got straight to it. They found the clog quickly and provided a plan to repair the issue.

2 stars is being generous but the techs that came to actually do the work were great. The office staff… complete opposite. They were the worst! I called 3 times and sent in an online service request before someone came out to look at the problem, they responded to the online request faster than me calling. It still took 3-4 days from the first time I called. Apparently the first person didn’t submit a service request because when I called to follow up, they didn’t have any request for me. Then, because it wasn’t an “emergency”, it was left for a couple of days until we sent in a different service request online and labeled it as an emergency. A pipe busting is a “emergency” even if I shut the hot water off so it wasn’t actively pouring water into my house! Permitting was NOT done until 3 days after all the work was done and after I called to ask about an inspector for the second time (2 times!). Then we failed the first inspection. The final inspection wasn’t scheduled properly so we weren’t home when the inspector came. Luckily the techs took lots of pictures so the inspector didn’t have to come again.

Roman Z. Great technician, funny and savvy. I would recommend his work to anyone booking with Reliant Plumbing. Came late at night for temporary fix for my family and followed through the following day for septic tank pump replacement.

Huge thank you to Reliant and especially Carlos for coming out during the 2026 freeze! He quickly diagnosed the issue and took the time to explain how I can troubleshoot it myself if it ever happens again. He was kind, thorough, professional, and right on time (and even reassured me that since our unit is under Reliant’s warranty, there was no charge for the visit). He also made sure all my questions were answered before leaving. Truly excellent service from start to finish!

Showed up the next day on time, it was not an easy job pipe in my foundation these 2 worked hard to figure out the best solution very polite, hard workers best experience I have ever had .. it was a very stressful situation but they made sure to take their time and figure out the best possible fix for us. This place is a scam, and the reason they have so many reviews is they relentlessly follow-up until you leave one.

I had avoided leaving one until now because I was hoping to have this resolved. I had a tech come out to evaluate a leak and was quoted about $2600 for the repair. We were informed that we would be charged 50% up front and then on completion of the work. However, we decided to cancel (same day) because we found a much cheaper quote elsewhere.

That was November. As of today, I cannot get a return call for a refund. The customer service department is excellent, but they cannot approve refunds and require approval from a manager in the field. I have called multiple times, and still no resolution.

I intend to take them to small claims court and file with BBB next week.

I had a fantastic experience with this team after they installed a new outdoor spigot in my backyard. When I noticed a connection issue a few months later, their office staff was incredibly helpful and managed to fit me in for a follow-up appointment the very next day. My tech consultant, Carlos, did an amazing job. He was prompt, professional, and took the time to be thorough while still working impressively fast. I really appreciated his clear communication throughout the process and highly recommend their reliable service. This is probably the fourth or fifth project I’ve had completed with reliance and they continued to do a great job.
