I contacted Freedom Solar Power after having so many issues getting my house generator repaired. I initially bought my Generac generator from Generator Supercenter and, after several years, they completely let me down. After having a tornado and Hurricane Beryl hit my property leaving outages, plus a couple of other outages, I’ve been waiting for my generator to be repaired for 5 months.
I found that generator companies are too covered up to handle all of the repairs. Most of them are not taking on new clients either.
Freedom Solar Power set up an appointment immediately and Sam Cochran evaluated my property right away for solar panels. This company and Sam are very professional and I recommend them if you are looking to go solar as a power backup.

Silvana is my solar power provider representative. She is very professional and just state the fact instead of sale pitch. She was with us through out the whole process from start to finish. She even responded to my inquiry while she is out of town. She volunteered to help us set up the app to maximize our savings with our new solar panels. We are very happy with her service and also recommended her to our friends and neighbors.

Hunter White at Freedom Solar Power was exceptional in guiding me through the entire process of designing my solar system. He took the time to thoroughly explain my power usage and tailored the system to meet my specific needs. Even after his part was completed, Hunter remained helpful and attentive during the installation of the power walls, ensuring everything went smoothly. I highly recommend working with Hunter for a seamless and informed solar experience

Jose provided the best service I’ve ever received from any company. He installed my Tesla battery system and showed me two work the app. Freedom Solar is a great company.

Unprofessional installation process without respect of our property. After damaging new installed gutters they don’t care about the requested replacement. The crew installed some panels in an uneven manner on our brand new and even roof, they had to come back to straighten it out somehow. They didn’t even care about using their spacer on their ladder and shook with their shoulders after they saw the damage they caused. After complaining the office lady promised to send our gutter guy for replacement but after another 6 weeks we haven’t heard anything again. I regret we believed in them. Thinking about further steps now.

COMPLETE SCAM!!! I got solar panels to save me money. Well since my panels have been installed my electric bills have actually gone up! And on top of that I have a bill for the panels. I have tried to solve this issue for the last year and a half and freedom keeps telling me I need to talk to mosaic to cancel and when I call
Mosaic they tell me freedom is the one that needs to cancel. They trap you into this and it’s a complete scam. Then I call freedom and they told me that they don’t actually promise the savings. Which is probably in very small print on one of their 100 document pages after they base their sales pitch on how much MONEY you’re going to save on your monthy bills. If you’re on the fence about this. DO NOT DO IT. At the very least do not work with either of these companies.

I feel this company just wants to get your money and doesn’t care about the maintenance and repair anymore. I was with Freedom Solar for about 18 months. My system stopped working due to power surge in the storm event in March. Contacted Sunpower and Sunpower wanted me to contact Freedom solar. Since then, it takes about one month to finally get a technicians to come to diagnose the problem. And take another one month for Freedom solar to give me a quote for repair. I don’t know how long I need to wait for them to get the parts and schedule for the installation…..Hope Freedom solar can expedite their service as customer is paying high rate of electricity while waiting….

We have been very happy with Freedom Solar's service. Sam Cochran is our consultant, and we have truly put him through the ringer with a million questions/concerns. He always responds promptly and has helped set us up with a solar plan that truly works for our home and budget! Can't recommend him enough!

The moment I moved to Texas I noticed the power going out a lot and saw my electric bill climb to insane amounts in the summer. I decided to make a conscious effort to invest in solar to lower my electric bill while making a long term goal of getting off the grid. Freedom Solar has been able to do both with an awesome pre and post sales team!

The initial price with a nice warranty helped me decide to choose over a few competitors, but the customer service sells itself. I received amazing onboarding to implementation guidance, the ebbs and flow with my detach/reattach. Most recently provided guidance with me purchasing my Powerwall and even helped me pick the best electric plan to help reduce my usage and properly plan for outages. There are many folks on the CS/Support side of the house over the years but the most recent name that comes to mind is Silvana Escalante because she helped me calibrate my Powerwall with my energy company for best utilization down to how to program the operational mode. Do you want solid ROI investing in a solar company? Freedom Solar is worth the investment and you’ll see it Day 1

It's hard to find a passionate, knowledgeable representative these days, but Sam Cochran at Freedom Solar Power is a young man of integrity. We worked together to exhaustively look at all my options. He worked to EARN my business. I was impressed - and I've been a marketing director for many years. Ultimately, my circumstances didn't lend themselves to going solar at this time, but I feel like I made an informed decision. Freedom Solar has an excellent representative in Sam Cochran.

Update: In my honest opinion, I wish I could go back in time and never get my solar panels with freedom solar. I thought they were going to look at all of my energy needs and design a system that would provide exactly that. I feel like they did not. Not only did I have to self diagnose the issue with my solar, I had a very difficult time getting heard. Finally after months of trying to get the issue fixed. I get told I have to fix the issue. The furnace that was in my house BEFORE the solar panels were installed requires too much energy which then causes the power wall to shut off and then in turn left me with a $300 electric bill since the solar panels did not work anymore. Call me crazy but I would think checking to make sure the furnace that was there already would be powered by the solar panels . But I was told they do not check and make sure that happens. And that actually no solar company does that. You spend thousands of dollars but to me I feel they don't care enough to make sure you do not freeze or get overheated because I was told they do not check to make sure it works. I had to sit in my house freezing because I couldn't afford to turn on my furnace. Just to wait months and get told I need to replace it. When it was there first. I do not feel heard, I do not feel they care about customers, I feel like I got scammed. I would not go with them a second time. I have tried talking with managers and upper management. No luck. Even tried to get a tech out to just look over the system one more time. But since I was told there is no issues on their end everything is working as it should, they would charge me.

Now they are saying I need to replace my furnace or buy another battery. My furnace was there first. This company is trash. Do not use.

I need to change my original review.

The communication is horrible. For spending an extreme amount of money, you would think when there are issues you would be able to get them resolved in a timely manner. You’re not. You cannot even get a supervisor on the phone when the customer service person fails to help you. I have had problems after problems. Which as long as there is great communication usually is no issue. I have solar panels on my house with freedom solar and still received a $300 electric bill and now no one wants to return my calls since my system is live. Once they get you on the hook they no longer care.

We had Freedom Solar install solar panels initially a few years ago and this week we added four panels and retrofitted the system with a Tesla Powerwall 3. The process from sales to design to approvals and installation was so smooth. No stress. Spencer Sobolik has been our contact for both projects and kept us up to date on the new whole home capability of the Tesla 3 Powerwall because he knew we wanted to eventually add that battery capability. I really appreciate the support and the service. I would highly recommend Freedom Solar if you are looking to install a solar power system.

Sam Cochran with Freedom Solar Power was super awesome to deal with. Very respectful, answered all my questions professionally, always got back to me within a couple of hours. Either by call/text/email. Just all around great experience dealing with for a salesman...lol
And for the install guys they where very fast and worked safely on the roof with leaving a professional looking system on my home. Will highly recommend Sam and his Freedom Solar team to anyone. Again thank you Sam and your team for selling me a great product so for.... only had a couple weeks but looks to last years and have plans to add onto my system soon. Looking forward to talking to you soon Sam about that.

Be very weary and ask questions prior to purchase. If for whatever reason you need to have your panels removed (like getting a new roof) they will charge you $9800.. Yes almost 10k to remove panels and re-install. your insurance may not cover this cost. $9800 is highway robbery. Total time a Sunpower employee took to remove and install was less than 8 hours TOTAL.
*** Update*** a Freedom solar rep reached out to speak about my review which was very nice. However, during our conversation, the rep kept insisting the excessive cost was necessary. She stated not every house gets charged like we did, the costs are custom to the property. I have a one-story ranch with a standard pitch roof with easy access. I cordially expressed my bafflement at the exorbitant cost of two kids taking lightweight panels off a simple roof, and then one of them coming back later to put them back on again. The entire process barely totaled a day's work. The rep did not like my calm and respectful response. She never satisfactorily validated the expense, she just kept repeating herself. She even began talking over me, and finally outright hung up on me. I am shocked at this appalling customer service. Be warned, if you have a roof with a steep pitch, or a 2nd story home, be ready to take out a loan if you ever have to have this service performed.

Installed solar panels, promised rebates that I never received, solar panels so far have not performed enough to combat energy consumption. Not very responsive. Sent emails never got a response, left voicemails never got a response. Company sent link asking for review.
Year update: I did eventually get my rebate taken care of. After a year of operation I still have about a 70% grid dependency. I think my system is undersized for the power I use. The system itself is decent and I haven't had any issues with it. However, for the price I figured I would just have a little be less grid dependency. Is there a cost savings? Yes. does the cost of the system make the savings worth it? I would say highly unlikely at this time.

John showed up on time. He was very personable and explained everything very well.

John Gonzalez has given a very detailed presentation and we are seriously considering Freedom as our maintenance plan

John Gonzalez was a great guy all the way, very fun specialist who went every inch to explain details of what was wrong and how he was going to tackle them and he eventually did! Thanks John!!

Once they get you to sign, good luck. I have been misled by this company on multiple occasions. From promising getting my install completed before end of year for tax credit filings, to multiple rescheduled/cancellations for service appointments, to the inverters not working and delivering my promised power output, to then not coming out on the scheduled calls due to other projects and not notifying me until I had to call them 2 hours past the arrival window. Today they came but it rained and Mike told me as long as it stopped after 1 I can get it done today. Now Mike is telling me he doesn't feel comfortable with the team on the roof due to the fact it did rain but this was after he said he earlier in the conversation that he didn't have a second person to send out. The people I’ve worked with have over promised and under delivered on nearly all facets of presale, implementation, and post sale support.

Got on to make my first review on Google ever. They pissed me off that bad. Where to start, where to start. Aside from being overpriced as I have since learned. They also work with one of the worst lenders available. The lender doesn't allow for online changes to payments, adding payments, changing dates times amount. You have to call in every time. If you make an additional payment it goes towards your final payment not your next payment. I could go on and on.
Then custom service oh lord customer service. Definitely do not use them if you are out of Houston because they charge a traveling service fee for any area they service. They came to our area. This wasn't a google search for installers. They came to my community door to door. Only for me to learn today there will be a $200 fee just to come have a look at my less than 1 year old system. In the area they do installation. Why are you installing in areas you don't service without a fee.
Do plumbers, AC techs, electricians do this? The answer is no. They come identify the issue before charging you. There may be a fee for travel but it comes with the bill.

Plus lets talk about it isn't like its a wear and tear thing by the homeowner. Like I am out there climbing on my roof and messing with my system. Of course its an install issue.

The best part though is that a repair will take 30 to 40 days to come have a look and only if I pay the fee before they can even identify what is wrong with it.

Finally, I am not getting to use my solar system for the entire month of July and likely August the based on these issues. The prime solar months with no solar.
30 to 40 days just to identify whats wrong with it. If solar is this fragile just don't buy it. 1 year in. 29 until its paid off. I have all the confidence in the world it will last at this point. Can you hear the sarcasm.

Don't buy solar. But if you are definitely don't use these guys.

Cautionary Tale for bad service and Bad company.

I ended up choosing Freedom Solar for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the panels they offer are high quality with a good warranty period. Secondly, my consultant (Sam Cochran - EC in Houston) has been an absolute pleasure to work with. He made sure to answer every single question I had (and I had A LOT) to make sure I was satisfied before making a decision. He sent over numerous proposals which I had requested so I could compare all the different scenarios. He also did not try to oversell me and made sure that what I was getting was reasonable for my situation. I've had the system installed for about 2 years now and have not had any issues. Recently I decided to add a second battery and I reached out to Sam again for advice. As always, he was extremely helpful and truly went above and beyond to help me make the best decision.
