Home Services reviews in Houston, Texas

The 288 & Beltway center is trapping stray cats and dumping them somewhere else (per an employee). Jennifer at the Corp office said they call an agency to pick them up. That is BS. Don't buy from them.
-
Customer service was terrible. We were looking for lavender plants we’re not recommend them.

Went by today pickup a few things and over heard how they were treating a employee I felt so bad for him they need to do better by the people who work for them sheesh!

I was recently there on 4/15/23. I need assistance moving a plant to my cart to purchase due to the plant being heavy. I asked a cashier who was not seeing customers to assist me. The cashier then went to the front and spoke with a another worker to assist me. I waited approximately 8 minutes, looking at the worker the cashier spoke to not even budge. I approached the cashier again and he informed me he already requested help. I then decided to leave as it appeared I was not a priority. As I was leaving I hear the worker who was intended to help me casually talking on the phone. Please do better with assisting your customers!

Lots of plants to choose from, But come with all your research done. These youngsters working here don't know much. I asked for a trellis and they didn't know what that was. And you work at a Garden Center? I don't blame them. Corporate made the decision to hire the warm body, not knowledgeable staff.

I give them a 1 because it wouldn’t let me post with zero stars.
My wife purchased some lawn Fertilizer for me while she was shopping for plants. She mistakenly purchased the wrong fertilizer and tried to return it the same day. They refused to refund her money back. Now, It states on the receipt “no refunds” which she noticed after she attempted a return. This is ridiculous! The bags were unopened and attempted return the same day. After all of that, we found the same product at Lowes for literally half the price. Will never go back there again. There are plenty of nurseries in the Houston area that I have had no issues with. This place is a rip off!!! -
Beware when paying with a gift card….
I had a gift card gifted to me during Christmas. Came in February to use it and had $30ish remaining on it, fast forward to end of April; using the same the gift card for an almost $30 total for this second visit, the cashier tells me there’s only $5 left on it. I told the cashier there’s more than $5 because I’d only used it once before and the previous cashier gave me a balance receipt of $30. She didn’t understand what I was trying to say and had already swiped the card with the transaction and couldn’t cancel the sale so I lost $25…. -
Lots of healthy plants and variety. However, the two I went specifically looking
For were not available: a white crepe Myrtle and a Jacaranda tree.
The prices are reasonable, and the facility well maintained. -
Vanessa was a great help, one of the nicest and most down to earth person easy to conversate with, made sure i found everything i was looking for. Definitely recommend shopping at this location!!

Usually have good experiences at Houston Garden center, but today that was not the case. On the shelf below the item that I purchased the price indicated $7.99. When I got to the register and paid for the items I realized after the transaction was processed that the price seemed extremely high. I went back to the shelf to verify the price and found that the price was for a different item. I tried to exchange the item for something of lesser value but was informed that all sales are final and that I could not return or exchange the purchase that I had made. There is no signage stating that all sales are final except on your receipt which is after the fact you make a purchase for something that is the wrong price or that you do not want. Hopefully this post will help those who do not know about there no return policy. It is very upsetting that they would not even allow me to exchange it before I even left the store. I will think twice about shopping at this location. Maybe this post will have the owners realize that customer service is key in these parts and that this review will probably hurt their business. I will consider removing this post if someone is willing to work with me. But from the other posts I am seeing I don’t see that happening. I am a small business owner and every customer is very important to my success. I do what ever it takes to make my customers happy. Not just because of how these reviews work but because it’s the right thing to do. Please out ✌️

Decent place for browsing plants. Take a marker with you or take photos of price and plants. Learned my lesson. Now I do that--write the price on the plant

I went to purchase some milkweed as I have some late season monarch butterfly caterpillars that ate up the plants that I had. This was the first time visiting this particular Houston Garden Center location off of 288 and Almeda Genoa. I will not return. I cannot speak for all of the plants but the milkweed was in terrible shape. I found lots of aphids, dead branches and weeds growing in the pots. A lot of the plants surrounding the milkweed was in the same condition. Honestly I ended up getting a few milkweed plants because I was desperate but I will not be going back there.

The service is very poor and attendants not very helpful. Wide range of plants but no one qualified to tell you about the plants. Very limited English.

No help to put trees in car or pick them up! Saw the guy in front sitting at booth on the phone couldn't get his attention and No English! can't look at the trees in back unless you want to get wet ..so I had to get wet ..decent prices beautiful plants customer service bad..one guy asked me for a tip after I purchased 120 dollars worth of plants I told him have a good day.

They are always very kind and happy to help! Salvador was eager to give us a tour of the Christmas trees and gave us some great tips on the care for it.

-

-
Great location, large variety and selection of plants, flowers and garden products. Highly recommend.

Pretty good selection with fair and great prices depending if you go when it's on sale. 1st week or 2 of the 70 percent off sale is very best time. Yesterday I got about 35 landscape shrubs and ground covers (including 26 2gal +3gal azaleas) and a gallon of root stimulator for $139. You can't beat that deal anywhere. They have fair prices and decent selection on seasonal color, herbs, vegetables. Stock can vary from store to store. I mostly use the one in Webster and at 288/Beltway 8 intersection.

I was looking for mosquito repellent plants for my front and backyard. We ask 1st person who pointed us in the directions. Then we looked and didn't find and second person said they dont have any. I said lady said you do. Then he pointed me in the directions. I have never planted these plants nor have seen them in person, I did see a few plants that looked like the ones I wanted but the name didn't match. Poor service we left. We are looking for around 20 - 45 plants but will not be back.
