Like others, was sent by utility company. First day people were nice. Second day, other people showed up, but were rude. He demanded(the tall bald guy) to get into my backyard with their big truck! He wanted to cut other branches to have access, I said I wasn't sure he responded well it needs to be done so we don't f'ing come back. They ended getting around it, BUT when they were gone I went back to see and they left a tree bald! All they had to do was trim, but he cut off almost all the branches! My utility company needs to start hiring real professionals

CenterPoint hired Davey Tree to cut back branches from the power lines in our area. Totally understandable thing to need to be done but they totally scalped our only blooming tree in our backyard. Left branch debris all over the yard, didn’t even cut the actual dead branches, and knocked over items in our yard like potted plants and torches, and didn’t put them back. We have dogs and they had left our back gate wide open with no care in the world. I would never hire this company or suggest them to anyone if this is how they leave a job. This is the worst tree trimming job I have ever seen.

Excellent service, guys were very professional. Licensed arborist informed how the tree should be trimmed and pruned. Not butchered like others. Tree looks great.

I have used The Davey Tree Company in Houston, Texas, for 25 years. The trees on my property always look amazing.

Do not confuse the residential tree care department of Davey Tree with their utility service department. Utility service trimming has constraints established by the energy providers and does not represent the capabilities of the other, customer driven service division.

Once a year, Davey spends several days trimming the many trees on my property to remove dead wood, thin the canopy to lessen the chance for wind damage, and to ensure the proper clearance over City streets. Cabling has also been installed to prevent a few weak angles in the trunks from splintering and ripping the trees in half.

All of the large oak trees have lightning protection, just in case. Additionally, Davey has installed root barriers to prevent foundation damage when a tree is “too close” to the house.

The trees receive deep root fertilization annually.

After Harvey, Davey also drilled deep holes around the trees and back filled them with compost. The holes provided aeration for the roots, which had been compacted by the flood waters.

The health of my trees is extremely important to me. They are spoiled with the excellent care they receive from Davey.

The long time representative for my part of Houston, Wyatt Bilby, coordinates the care and proper schedules for trimming and fertilizing. His crew is comprised of long time, proficient employees who never cease to amaze me with their ballet within the branches.

I highly recommend the company for any and all tree services needed. I have never been disappointed by their work.

As usual Curt and his workers did a perfect job for us. It was a difficult tree removal, and they did a quick and excellent job! I have been using Davey tree for quite a few years. Wouldn’t use anyone else.

Curt Smith and his crew at Davey Tree Experts did and excellent job of clearing a fallen tree that swallowed my father's backyard and dangerously left the electrical lines dangling inches from the ground. Curt went above and beyond the call by assisting me with getting the electrical people out to reroute the electrical lines so they could begin the work and so that my elderly father would not be without electricity. They also trimmed and took care of some dead trees. Curt and his crew worked their artistic magic where there once was giant massive fallen tree with exposed roots was now a small bare spot in the yard. Curt and his crew were my angels on earth in a time of chaos. Thank you Davey Tree Experts, Curt Smith and Crew.

I called Davey to have some trees removed. Alex and his team came by the next day and gave us some options instead of removal. We ended up keeping the trees (for which I am so thankful) and having them pruned and cabled for stability. Davey was very professional and I appreciated their suggestions on what we could do instead of removal. Alex's team was very friendly, professional and hard-working. The job was done correctly and quickly. I will definitely use them for any other tree issues that arise. I would highly recommend them!

I have used Davey for about 20 years. They come every 4 years and trim my huge Ash tree. This year they also did deep root fertilizing. They are the best. My tree looks healthy. They cleaned up my back neighbor's yard and my side neighbor's yard after trimming the over-hanging branches that were in their yards. One of the limbs was on the roof top of my back neighbor's house -- all taken care of. We asked ahead of time that they put their dogs inside while the men were working. Great job!

This is my second time using Davey Tree, and both times have been great. Recently my mature oak had a limb crack and was hanging over the sidewalk. The representative explained that the oak was getting too heavy at the ends of the branches and needed to be trimmed back. A few days later a crew was out and spent several hours carefully trimming the tree from bottom to top. On a second oak, a major limb was threatening my garage. They carefully cut the limb a piece at at time, lowered the severed parts to the ground by rope and protected the garage. All crew members were professional, efficient, safety conscious, and polite. I'm sure they are not the cheapest, but they are experienced, try to protect the tree, and worth the price. Note, many people are complaining about the utility work - they are following the power line company instructions and need to get rid of all branches that threaten the power lines. Not really their choice.

The most UNPROFESSIONAL workers you could ever imagine having on your property. My neighborhood hired them for cutting the trees near power lines and for over 10 minutes one of their guys banged on my door and rang the doorbell repeatedly laughing at my elderly dog barking from inside the door bark at him. NO BODY was home! There was a car in the driveway but NO ONE was home and you harassed my poor dog repeatedly, for what! Unprofessional and absolutely disgusting! I hate that’s they were in my back yard when I wasn’t home, who knows what these sick people were doing back there. Lakewood Forest should never hire you again!

If I could give zero stars, I would. “Davey Tree” or “Davey Tree Experts” (same company — they just changed the name because of all the bad reviews) is by far one of the most unprofessional companies I’ve ever dealt with.

They were hired by CenterPoint Energy to trim the power lines behind my home — even though they were just here two years ago, and the trees aren’t anywhere near the lines. My trees are over 20 feet away and not tall enough to reach them, yet they came through again to butcher them for no reason.

The crew didn’t bother to knock on my door or let me know they’d be working in my yard. You just look out the window and there some random people climbing trees in my yard. When they were done, they left a huge mess of branches and debris all over the place.

The workers were completely unprofessional and seemed to have no care or understanding of what they were doing. It honestly feels like they get paid by the branch, cutting just for the sake of cutting. They say they are certified Arborist but they must have been certified by 10 minute Arborist.com because any real Arborist would not trim a tree in the manner they trimmed mine. I get it they need to trim the power line but they made no attempt properly trim my trees. What im left with is trees that are not anywhere near the power line butchered beyond repair. Not to mention that they took almost no care in cleaning up their mess, left branches all over the yard, didn't close gates they opened or put back the potted plants and other items they knocked over while they dropped huge branches.

It’s frustrating that CenterPoint (or “ChopperPoint,” as I now call them) keeps hiring this company. It feels like a “lowest bidder” government contract situation, and homeowners like us are left to deal with the consequences.

I would never recommend Davey Tree to anyone. If you care about your property, your trees, or basic professionalism, stay far away from this company.

I am so impressed and happy with Davey Tree Experts and Arborist Curt Smith that I feel compelled to write this review. During the recent derecho a huge, very old Catalpa tree came down, nicking the corner of my roof on the way and landing across my front yard, on top of a showcase hibiscus bed. I don’t know how Curt did it but he had a crew out within 48 hours to remove the tree, and within a week to grind the 6’ root ball and stump. I’ve been using Davey Tree Experts to care for my trees for several years and now appreciate them and Curt even more.

Worst service I have ever experienced, agreed on a daily rate and agent said absolutely no problem completing scope of work and may have enough time to start on second project. Job was to remove neighbors tree branch that fell on my roof and 3 small pine trees. Crew showed up few hours late, removed branch and neighbors tree (which was not in scope). Ring doorbell video shows workers sleeping on porch, they only removed some upper branches on pines, spent time working on chain saws (guessing issues) and left early.. when I questioned the agent, I was given a multitude of excuses and still expected to pay full amount.. I would steer clear and use someone else.

This company was hired by centerpoint energy to trim trees from power lines. One crew came by my house and did proper trimming. Then a week later a crew came by with tree saw and butchered my tree that they had trimmed a week ago. I called to complain about my tree they destroyed and the branches they left in my yard for 3 days. They sent a supervisor out who argued with me the whole time about the tree and how they cut it. No apology no resolution. I called the Davey’s office to let them know and the lady hung up me. They are going farther than they should on peoples property and not trimming the trees properly. They only want to argue and not resolve the issue.

Left trash at job site. Even called to let the company know. I was told they will dispatch someone to come clean up, never came so here is a review.

I want to post pic of the sheading Italian Cypress trees since 2016,

I was under the impression that Davey tree was treating my Italian cypresses ,as other trees I have shedding that is terrible in chunks of the cypress that is blowing across my deck and my swimming pool,

I tried to reach out to my advisor and unfortunately my advisor was not available,

when I asked to speak to his superior they would not put me in contact with anyone else. I'd have to speak to him.

I very Distraught regarding the type of service , or there lack of.

they are not professionals they have never thought of the simplest things to be doing such as soil samples, I have to learn that from my local nursery you would think these young ones have a onnagara degree ,start with the basic folks.
Very upset we just had our swimming pool cleaned this morning, now Italian cypress is flowing on top of the water.
How would you like chunks on your deck & pool.

Like the other reviews, they were sent out by the utility company to trim trees away from the power lines. Man knocks on my door and says he needs access to my back yard and explains why. I said okay is it going to get cleaned up afterwards? Oh yes, he says! Liar….I came home to a mess in the back yard that I have to clean up! Wow….how unprofessional….and agree with another reviewer….will NEVER hire them for my own personal use if this is how they do business. Oh and lesson learned….WILL never give them access again!

Update: They kindly sent someone out to my property to clean up the debris. Tbh it was the principle of the matter and that I had asked if he was going to clean up any mess they made and he said yes. I do appreciate the fact that they made it right in the end. Thank you!

Horrible, horrible, would give 0 if available, Center Point has a contract with Dave’s Tree Surgery to trim trees back from power lines, I have a 100 yr old oak tree, the supposedly supervisor was at my property this morning and assured me that the crew would not butcher my beautiful tree. Ha, that is exact,y what Davey Tree Surgery did was Butcher my once beautiful tree. The crew said they called the supervisor(not?)and he would be on site shortly, never showed, I called the office and the phone girl began to tell me how it is, talk about not knowing how to handle an upset person she is a master at it!!, guess she got her attitude on how to treat customers from Davey Tree Surgery owners as she really told me how things work and I have no recourse!! Was I and still very upset about them butchering my tree, YES I am but the attitude is Customer can do nothing about what or how we trim trees, we do as we please and do not Care about the customer!! What a very Sad experience this has been. Davey Tree Surgery is one of the worst experiences I have had in a very long time. Even the neighbors called me to say how sorry they are that my tree was butchered.

I have been very satisfied over the years with what Davey Trees deep root fertilizer has done for my trees. They are healthier and look much better than before I started their annual service.

Davey Tree trimmed trees as part of a job for the electric company. We were out of town at the time so our brush was left. We gave them a call and they came back to get the brush! Very polite when I got the phone to arrange the pickup. Keep it up guys!

Look I think its time they change their name from Davey Tree Expert to "Davey Tree Expertly leave a mess all over your yard , don't knock on your door to let you know they will be working in your yard company" granted they came back the next day to clean their mess, but it wasn't until after I called and complain. We didn't hire them it was a bid contract thru Centerpoint Energy and unfortunate for us they ruined my 40 year old Magnolia and Oak Tree (see pics).... Anyways I will never pay for that type of unprofessional garbage work.
