My daughter and I went to get a Christmas tree last night. As we entered into the walkway, a man came out and asked if he could help us. We told him we were coming to get a Christmas tree, he said "well we close at 8", it was about 7:50pm. I asked does that mean we need to come back and look another time? He said that we could still look, but that the registers close at 8. So my daughter and I started looking at trees and he asked if he could assist us. We told him what we were looking for. He pointed in the direction of the tree we were looking for. My daughter and I found a tree that we really liked and came back to tell the man we found one. He pointed to the register area and said that someone over there could help us. We went towards the register and approached a Hispanic man and told him we wanted to get a tree and he said he did not speak English. So I asked out loud if there was anyone who could help us get a tree. A lady stepped up and said yes, that she could help us. As she walked towards us, she called out to another man that was doing something with the plants. She called him twice he did not answer. I turned to my daughter and told her that we were leaving and she agreed. By the way there was only one other family there and they were already at the register buying a tree. The man who approached us when we first walked in was not friendly at all, he didn't even walk around with us to assist us in picking out a tree. All the other employees were all standing in the entry way where the register was, except for the cashier and the man who appeared to watering something or putting together equipment.

Issac is always so welcoming and greets me every time I come. He always asks if I need any help and helps me load my truck. Thank you for your hospitality!

Selection is good and it's easy to get to but I was saddened when I saw them load up a ton of plants that didn't sell but still had life and put them in the dumpster. Even watched me as I left thinking I was going to steal them. I understand needing to make space but just seems like a huge waste, donate them to schools for science or something.

Came to this establishment yesterday and spent over $300 for plants, trees, and potting soil. Get home have my kids unload my truck and I am off to work. I wake up today getting ready to plant my things and noticed that I only had 5 gardenias instead of the 6 I was charged for. I go up to the store and MIGUEL, the very unprofessional MANAGER, says to me, “I can’t help you, it is not my fault you miscounted”. I was mortified! So then I ask him for a number to speak to someone over him and he points in the direction of the registers, refuses to get up off his chair in the shade, and says it’s that 713 number over there. One of the workers sees this and politely tries to help me, and then that is when Miguel jumps up to tell him, do not help, step away, and proceeds to place his hands on the gentleman. I am just horrified at the service at this point. Not to mention, while he was handling my receipt with the corporate office, the nice young lady at the register is answering my questions, but he comes to her and tells her to get back to her place at the register AND he tells her NOT TO HELP ME! This was one of the most horrible experiences I have ever had at this Garden Center. Definitely will NOT BE GOING BACK!

Purchased mulch here seems it was the only place near me that actually had any. Several places stated that they had been robbed of their mulch. Service was good polite and knowledgeable. They even helped me to put the big bags in my car without my asking. Thanks guys!😊

They have a good plant 🪴

They did not have the most selling item in Houston TX. St Augstien grass

Great deal on mulch right now!

They said the grass would be there about 4PM Thursday and it was there about 4PM Thursday! Paid for the grass and went to load it up. Very nice people. Management has to explain to the workers not to touch an automatic lift hatchback though. After the lady loading the grass forced my hatchback open while the hydraulics were opening it. The hydraulic cylinders complained for the next ten opening and closings and I had to re-align it.

Went for a Xmas tree and had a great experience. Visitor helped us and was so polite and fun. He was careful to look for holes and brown spots and he found the perfect 10 ft one for us. They added the stand and bowl and balanced it. Just brought it inside and it’s PERFECT!! Thank you. Merry Christmas!

Horrible customer service and cashier's that don't have a clue! Asked cashier to help and said she couldn't leave the register....finally found what I was looking for and low and behold, the cashier was out in the aisles helping other customers. Brought my purchase to to the register and was over charged by a different cashier...when I brought it to their attention, they said, "oh, it's on sale" I almost was over charged for an item that was clearly marked on sale. Last trip, brought in some leaves with a fungus to find a remedy....not one employee knew what to use. I received a different answer from 3 different employees. Time to find a better and more knowledgeable nursery. Very disappointed.

Very poor customer service!
Staff unaware of inventory n where located.
Poor English communication.
Never go there again. Got my plants at Lowes! -
There are good workers here and I really liked how they keep things clean and tidy.

Basic from service point of view: very basic layout and set up. But they do have a lot of plants, and generally good plants. Pricewise, I don't think they are any less than eg Home Depot - you do get more choices

This actually just happened to me. This location as well as others have been out of grass for a few days. I went there yesterday and was told Wednesday (today) or Thursday they get a shipment. I called to see if they had their supply and, of course, they don't answer the phone like many other Houston Garden Centers. Voice mail box is full which tells you that is just their practice. So I drive the short distance from my house to the 6072 Hwy 6 North location and upon pulling in I see several pallets of beautiful green grass. So, I go to the register where both employees are literally standing there waiting for something to do...no customers present. I ask for 15 pieces of grass and am told sorry, there is nobody here to load the grass for me. I reiterate that I only need 15 pieces and I will gladly load myself and have them check it. Nope, they have to load it. So I look around and see several employees walking around, watering plants, sweeping, etc. In fact there are literally more employees than customers on the premise while I was there. I am flabbergasted at this point and ask a male employee why he cannot come out and load 15 pieces and his reply is that he needs to stay at the registers-still no customers. Then I am told I can check with the manager-Brian. After I hunt him down thinking surely he will see how ridiculous this is and tell somebody to load my grass, he tells me that they just cannot sell any grass until 4:00PM and does not explain why.
I go through my whole rational again and he isn't budging, no grass sale until 4:00PM. I don't know if Houston Garden is that poorly managed in general, or this is just the case of a location that can't see the forest for the trees. I will NEVER spend another dollar at this location and will think twice before shopping at ANY Houston Garden again. -
Well don't take me wrong , it's a beautiful place to buy all kinds of plants etc , the employees are very friendly , the only bad apple it's the manager or supervisor , this person tread me and my uncle with disrespect , I guess because we are Spanish , talk to us as we were some kind of animals or something like that , I have to load the grass we bought and he got very nasty because we were helping other people.

I've shopped at several locations of Houston Garden Center, this just being the most recent one. I have uniformly found their personnel to be helpful, knowledgeable, and professional and their plants to be in excellent condition. We just bought a house in Cypress, and the landscaping was too sad to greet Christmas. I didn't have time to do much, but was able to find great snapdragons that would see me through to spring in excellent shape at HGC for a fraction of the cost of sad worn plants I'd seen at the big box stores. Although it was Christmas and they were very busy, the staff was polite and helpful. I was sorry to read that others were less complimentary about their experience. Between Covid and the holidays, we are all a little fractious. As I begin to update the landscaping around our home, I'll definitely depend on the expertise and products of HGC.
