This is the place to go if you like wasting time picking out plants only to be ignored by the cashiers. They have the rudest most inattentive staff of any of their locations and that’s a pretty low bar. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. Sadly, any of the big box stores like Lowe’s will treat you much better. Go any where but here!

Worst place to purchase a Christmas tree. The trees are overpriced. All of the trees are just sitting outside without given proper nutrients and water. Paid the additional fee to do the fresh cut and stand after my purchase. Tree is dead and taking up no water. Lady who answered the phone the next morning had the nerves to lie stating the tree just arrived earlier this week but prior to purchasing the Christmas tree was told the last shipment was received three weeks ago. Save your money and purchase a fake tree since the ones at Houston Garden Center are dead! It’s a huge safety hazard and not worth placing your family in danger. I was told all sales are final and unable to exchange the tree.

I walked the whole entire place. The sign said 50% off. Picked up four Mexican heather walked it to the front no not these these are not 50% off. I left them at the checkout and walked out. Every time I go here I seem to never leave with the plant. They look really beat up also. They should be 70% off or more

The plant quality does not disappoint at this location and the staff are so helpful. It’s my go to garden center.

I went today to purchased plants. One plants said $9.99. The sign is there Ect. Turns out it was $22.90. Management comes and i tell him what’s going on. But guess what. Apparently it’s my fault for not reading the plants original name. There’s only one sign and he blamed me for not knowing the name of it. Then says “we didn’t put a sign I have a million other plants to do”. That’s not my fault. That’s your job. He gave me an attitude and said “okay return her money”. It’s not my responsibility to check for a plants given name when the website or check number label. Plants should have there price. According to him it’s my fault for not rechecking price. But they didn’t put a price before hand because he was too busy as a manager.

Their selection has gotten increasingly worse over the last few years while their discounts have also gotten worse. To top it all off, Kim Hooper, doesn't feel patriotic enough to give a military discount. I don't like that. And to top it all off she makes her employees work on holidays like Christmas Eve because everyone knows that's when you go Garden shopping.

It seems like this store gets all of the plants that have something wrong with them. I had the worst growing season ever. I bought my spring flowers and potting soil from this store. Nothing matured correctly. Limited selection. Same plants all season. Nothing for shade. Very disappointed. I will be looking for another place to shop for plants and soil.

My first time here and I brought the current ad they have online. I asked the nearest worker and she said "No we don't have any of those" like she was very sure they didn't and I was about to walk away to find something else another worker she said "yes we do they should be on the left side" and the worker I asked was like shocked "Oh we do??" And then so I asked about another plant both of them gave me the opposite answers at the same time. So the lady who told me no in the start said no again and the other lady said they should all be on the left side. The lady who kept saying no was giving her worker like a sour REALLY? look.....so I brushed that off. The next I went to only pick up an individual like pint size to plant to look what was the name because they're usually labeled outside but I couldn't see the name. I saw the sign that said you can't mix them together you have to buy them all together which was like 18 pint plants. One of the cashiers ran up and was like angry that I picked it up individually and she said YOU JUST CANNOT MIX AND MATCH TOGETHER I was about to say very sarcastically "I know, I read the sign" but I held my tongue and just said I'm sorry and placed it back. As she went back in to continue checking ppl out, I followed behind her because I was ready to check out. She then proceeded to tell the lady who was checking out in front of me "Some people just don't know how to read" and they both began to laugh knowing damn well I was there in line within hearing distance. I'm glad I found what I was looking for, because I'm never going back there.

I slipped and fell on their very slippery smooth concrete floor this morning. The cashier whose arm was in a sling from a similar incident, said "it happens all the time." The manager was called. He told me "You should have been more careful." I had been shuffling along, aware of the slippery floor- I'm seventy, I'm always careful! Lucky I didn't break a hip! Manager didn't offer any kind of help, not even to write a report. I only wanted to make the company aware of the dangerous condition so they could do something about it, but they obviously don't care. I'll never go back.

The help for Christmas trees had no idea what they were doing. We carried the tree to the front and they didn’t know how to attach it to the roof of our car. I expected them to at least know how to tie it down.

Be sure to pay attention to the cash register showing your actual total versus what the associate types into the credit/debit card machine. Went in today and the guy tried charging me exactly $20 more than the total ($133 vs actual $113). Possibly an accident, since he was on his talking on his cell phone the entire time.

They weren't very nice! 😢 They were throwing away Xmas tree parts, an one was a small tree, it was missing the bottom part on one side, but I would've cut it Past that, and made it an even smaller tree! They got all mad that I asked about it! They got really rude, I asked if I could buy it? An they said NO, and told me I needed to park somewhere else? If you were throwing it away anyway, then why wouldn't you let someone like me have it? I guess I won't have a tree again this year? Not that it matters? But it would've been really nice! Guess they don't have a Christmas spirit? But they DO have 6" poinsettias, for like $3.99! Which is quite cheap! They're beautiful, too! I was driving the lady I take care of, that day, so I didn't Get anything? She got 4 of those poinsettias!

It makes me very happy to be able to have enough space to navigate throughout the store and see the variety of new plants to be able to take home. There were smiling faces and staff available there to ask questions. I like that it was clean and not so much of wet floors. I like this location because it doesn't get crowded with people.

Bought our Christmas tree ask the employee if we could leave it to get our other vehicle and they said yes. But when we went to pay the cashier man getting mad because we wouldn't talk to him in Spanish we kept answering in English so he said we need to take our tree soon as we pay for it. We will never shop at this location again

Nice selection of most of the usual plants, trees, and shrubs found growing around Houston. Very few to no exotic or oddball species. The staff tries to be helpful but have limited to no knowledge about growing or maintaining what they sell. Many speak little English. Overall a good place to find routine plants at good prices.

My husband was there today 11/30/2022 between 1:10 p.m.-1:40p.m. to buy a tree for a customer which happens to be a senior citizen community home (so he wanted a nice tree for them), when the employee was going to trim the tree the employee noticed the tree was cracked and advised my husband to pick another tree as the cracked tree would not last long. The manager saw him go to look for another tree and did not say anything. He was bringing the tree through the cashier and was then told by the cashier (Kathy) that he could not exchange the tree, the man who identified himself as a manager (Harrison) stepped in and told him he could not exchange the tree after the cahier was making a fuse about him exchanging the tree. My husband called me to tell me what was going on and the manager was trying to talk over him and arguing with him while my husband was talking to me. I called corporate and spoke to a Jennifer who had to call the store for them to exchange the tree. I asked my husband to get their names so that I could file a formal complaint and they refused to to provide him with any names acting very unprofessional and yelling while I was on the phone. It took another employee to give him their names as they refused to provide names. The only employee who was professional in assisting to get a tree was a guy by the name of Robinson. This behavior is unprofessional and unnecessary and when my husband told him he should be trained on how to deal with customers and be professional the manager told him they don't train on that. Not a good way for Houston Garden Center to do business with a landscaping company.

My first time at a Houston Garden Center. Lovely experience. I found red rose bushes my mother wanted for Mother's day. The cashier was super helpful and kind. Even in the Houston heat, the employee was very helpful loading 3 heavy bags of rose soil into my car. I recommend this place.

Kathy was very nice but the other people were trying to rush me and my friend out of the store 30 mins before closing. I understand letting us know that the store is closing but chasing us and giving us a stare down (being rude on top of that) is not quality customer service. Also, while we were checking out the guy was complaining about other guests in front of us, eluding to the fact he was talking about us as well.

    Definitely felt uncomfortable and rushed.

Horrible customer service. I visited this location yesterday to purchase a Christmas tree. I narrowed my search to two trees and asked the counter employees for their opinion of them. The trees are located on the exterior of the building in close proximity. I was told the company policy didn’t allow them to go outside the interior and was referred to a reluctant service person. I purchased a tree and cut for approximately $187. I informed the clerk, I had my own tree stand, for the placement. While they were cutting the tree’s bottom, I brought my stand for the tree. The manager informed me they no longer place trees in stands brought in, and since they had already cut the tree, could not issue me a refund. After a few, verbal exchanges, she hesitantly, agreed to my request. Now, as the tree was being carried to my SUV, I noticed it was not centered and the bottom of the tree wasn’t cut to fit the stand. After looking at me rudely, the service person corrected the error. Now remind you, the cut was purchased along with the tree. After the tree was put into my SUV, even after all the issues, I gave the service person a few dollars tip. The service person then told me, he wanted $10. I took my few dollars back and will never visit this location, again.

Great costumer service, very knowledgeable people. Everything was great except the older white cashier with an attitude towards everything
