James was really great to work with. We need some help finishing up a flooring project and just needed someone with experience using a table saw to make some rip cuts for us. Coordinating was easy and he accommodated our plan so we could wrap up the project. Will definitely plan ahead and call him first next time.

We have used James for lots of different projects around the house. He has done some electrical work for us and also things like hanging pictures and chandeliers. He always gets us on his schedule quickly. I recommend his services if you need a handyman.

James and his team did an outstanding job fixing another handyman work. They completely made my wall look brand new. They also worked with my schedule in order for the work to be repaired asap! I can’t recommend James and his team enough!

James did multiple handyman jobs for me last week and what impressed me was his attention to the detail along with his punctuality and workmanship. James removed my old alcove style bathtub, moved the drain, prepped the concrete, tiled the floor, installed the accent wall, and then installed the new freestanding bathtub and faucet. Most beautiful room in the house now! He was thorough and patient with all the delivery delays from the tub I ordered. And the work is perfect!

Like a lot of folks in Texas last week, my lady and I were two days into the “storm of the century” when we ran out of propane. I left the comfort of couch and blankets in search of more. Sadly, no luck. No store within 5 miles had any. What occurred next is 100% unbelievable, yet it really happened.

When I returned to the house, I returned to flooding. Massive flooding. The line to the refrigerator had busted and the water was already ankle-deep. I panicked, yanking the refrigerator out of its cell like a violent prisoner. Confirming the source, I grabbed a few tools and ran to the curb. OMG the round cast iron cover won’t come off. OMG. My mind races. Home Depot sells these keys. I hop in the car. No luck. They’re sold out.

No worries, Lowes is just up the road. Again, sold out. A sense of helplessness begins to settle in. I call my girl, and she recommends the Home Depot in Lewisville, up the highway about 15 miles. This is a real trek, so I call first. Eureka! They not only have a key but they’re willing to hold it for me in customer service. Thank God. I set out on the freeway. Twelve minutes into the drive my left rear tire goes flat. Not kidding.

This is an urgent mission, and I’m soooo close. I make the decision to keep going, ever so gently. Nope. Despite driving under 10 mph, the tire begins to pummel the wheel well, and then peels away, leaving only the rim, and concrete. Within seconds I’m at a full stop, stranded in sub-teen temperatures, with no key. The water still gushing at home.

I call Aboveboard Handyman Services. I had used them before for a plumbing issue and remembered James, the owner. He answered the call and agreed to help. Before starting the 20 mile trip from his home in McKinney, he suggested I call the city to send someone out to turn off the water. I did, thankful for his advice.

But here’s how James really shined. He not only picked me up, he drove me the last leg to Home Depot first, and then he took me back to my house. There he was able to remove the cover himself, and he turned off the water. Whew, finally, after two hours. But the story doesn’t end here. James insisted on helping me change the flat on my car first, so that we would have transportation after he left – just in case. Only after I was safely at home with my car fixed did he proceed to fix the leak and get the water back on. And he did this with no power in the house, using only a flashlight, standing in freezing, ankle deep water.

If this doesn’t demonstrate integrity I don’t know what does.

Our project was a door replacement and everything was as the company name; Aboveboard. Joshua was professional and efficient. Everything came out as I expected.

James went above and beyond with my shower door installation. Both gentleman were polite, patient and very knowledgeable - professional!
Due to not perfect walls and floor angels, it took a lot of time to make those frameless sliding doors to look and function well.James wasn't doing it, to get it done and get paid-no,he made sure that it was done to my satisfaction!And I am very picky:)Will definitely use this company again and would recommend them to friends and family. We used Aboveboard to refurbish and update an upstairs bathroom tub/shower. James and his crew reworked the shower plumbing, replaced the dated shower tile (including adding a niche) and refinished the tub which had seen better days. The shower now looks great and up to date. The crews that performed the work were great. The work was completed quickly and professionally. I have already added Aboveboard to my contract list for my home improvement needs. I highly recommend them.

These guys were great. My daughter had a seizure and put a hole in the wall in the entryway. They were able to come out and fix it really quickly. She has autism and it bothered her to see the hole. Thank you guys for the quick response and great work. Can't even tell where it happened now.

We were very happy with James services! He was referred by one of my friends. Showed up on time. Got jobs done quick but good quality. We did eight light fixtures, one ceiling fan and added three dimmers. James got those all done leas than 6 hours with a reasonable price. For our next projects, we will definitely call James again!
