General Contractor reviews in Plano, Texas

I hired Jaime to replace an old rotten wood 18” retaining wall with cinder block, a patio extension with flagstone topper and multiple large sections of sod. Everything came out better then expected and all work was completed in a few days. Jaime is super responsive and always answers his text messages or phone calls. Great crew and highly recommended. Very fair price also.

Hiring Jaime has been the worst decision we’ve ever made. He’s wasted our time and left a mess in our backyard. After over 3 weeks of back and forward he hasn’t been able to complete our project because he just has some other projects (more important I guess) going on. His project management skills are null along with his communication and professional skills. He never came to check on the project, all communication with his team is via WhatsApp and calls if they are lucky. He’s rude and unprofessional, he will send proposals and pictures of his work but then he will try to use totally different and cheaper materials. He didn’t have any respect for our time since he has promised multiple times to swing by to talk and try to get things right, but he always finds an excuse not to come. He makes you wait for him and never shows up. Now we wasted money and time with this person and our backyard is still a mess. Adding photos to show how it has been for two weeks now (no rain since then so he can’t use that excuse anymore)
Just stay away from this company! -
We hired this team to do projects including drainage and flower beds. They’re fast and work hard with reasonable price. Jamie who’s in charge of all the projects are responsible. No matter what problems I told him, he got workers to fix it. More importantly, workers who dig the ground accidentally dig the irrigation wire, the problem doesn’t show up after a few weeks, we don’t know who cause the problem, but his workers came and admit the problem and fix everything right without any argument. I know there are rooms for perfection among some workers in the team, but it’s more important to me that the team is responsible to what they do.

Jaime and his team did an amazing job! We needed a paver solution for our side yard since we were unable to get grass to grow due to the constant shade. I procured several quotes and moved forward with Amigo Construction. Jaime and his team executed with great professionalism. His friendly team made suggestions, asked for our input as to our preferences, and exceeded our expectations. We are more the pleased with the results. I would recommend definitely Amigo Construction and will use them for future projects.

Amigo Construction did an amazing job for us. They removed our terribly weedy grass, tilled, added new soil and then layed new Bermuda sod. The workers were courteous, amazingly hard working, finished in one day on a job estimated to take two. Never stopped working except for about a quick 30 min lunch. We will be calling them with all our landscaping needs. Thank you Amigo Construction!

Jamie from Amigo Outdoors constructed a nice gravel-and-paver sidewalk for my home. As a seasoned professional, he offers reasonable pricing, and his experienced team excels at handling all sorts of outdoor projects. I highly recommend him for any outdoor work.

Jaime and his crew did an amazing job on our backyard. The project turned out much better than I envisioned,. There was regular communication and he was so flexible with our last minute changes. Will definitely recommend him to anyone looking at landscaping their yard.

I was initially a bit skeptical about hiring Amigo Construction. I received quotes from several contractors and ultimately chose Amigo. Jamie and his crew did a great job installing our pavers and demonstrated professionalism as promised from the get go.
I had specific paver requests, and Jamie was able to accommodate them. They even designed a custom layout for my pavers, and I’m really happy with the final result.
However, there is room for improvement in management and communication. Jamie never checked on the project personally, but his crew worked extremely hard and did their absolute best. Despite the lack of supervision, the team deserves a thumbs-up for their hardwork.
Overall, I would definitely recommend Amigo Construction to anyone looking for a well-priced patio installation that still delivers great results and professionalism. -
I recently hired Amigo construction to transform my outdoor space, and I couldn't be more impressed with the results! From start to finish, the team was professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly detail-oriented.
The initial consultation was thorough, where they listened to my ideas/comments and provided changes accordingly. They really took the time to understand my vision and worked with me to ensure the design was both beautiful and functional.
The crew arrived on time each day and worked diligently to complete the project within the agreed-upon timeframe. The attention to detail was evident in every corner of the yard.
I’ve received a compliment from neighbors already!! They truly transformed my outdoor space into something amazing!
The team is hard working through the harsh weather; friendly and easy to talk to. -
Editing to provide more facts, as it seems Jamie wants to lie in his response below.
We’re relieved to finally have our project completed — but unfortunately, that relief is overshadowed by our extremely disappointing and frustrating experience with Amigo Construction.
What was promised as a 3-week project ended up taking 10 weeks to complete, marked by constant delays, poor communication, and an overall lack of professionalism. It was clear our project was never a priority. In total, work was only performed on about six days, often for just a few hours at a time.
Key issues we experienced:
Permits: We were initially told by Jamie that no permits were required. Upon researching myself, I found this to be false. We refused to move forward without them. Despite signing a contract, permit applications weren’t submitted until four weeks later. All delays would have been avoided had they been submitted on times
Communication: There was a persistent pattern of misleading communication. I counted at least 31 separate instances where Jamie or his team claimed something would be done that never happened. For example, we were told “concrete starts tomorrow,” yet no one showed up for three more days — and only after multiple unreturned messages.
Lack of Prioritization: Weeks would pass without progress or updates. Messages and calls often went ignored, leaving us completely in the dark.
Unprepared Contractors: Subcontractors routinely showed up without direction, asking us what needed to be done. “What size patio”, “show me picture of the overlay”, “where does the kitchen go”. This disrupted our workdays and forced us to act as project managers, trying to track down Jamie for clarity.
Neighbor’s Property Damage: Jamie’s team dug up part of our neighbor’s yard without notice or permission, resulting in a $50 per day HOA fine (which Jamie refused to pay). He assured us the damage would be corrected immediately, yet it went untouched for five days.
Mistakes and Poor Workmanship: There were numerous errors — turf installed over broken sprinkler heads, dead plants, and sloppy installations. We had to hire outside help to correct several issues that remain unresolved.
Payments: The only thing Amigo stayed on schedule with was collecting their payments — regardless of the lack of progress.
Based on this experience, I strongly advise against working with Amigo Construction. A quick search of reviews under both Amigo Construction and Amigo Landscaping reveals a pattern of similar complaints — unfortunately, I didn’t find them until it was too late.
This process has been emotionally and financially draining — especially considering this was a $30,000 investment. I now anticipate a lengthy legal process to resolve many of these issues, but I’m committed to holding them accountable.
Please proceed with caution if you're considering this company. -
Jamie and his crew worked on our backyard for porcelain pavers and artificial turf. They did an excellent job in designing and executing the work. Although there were some delay, the craftsmanship was done diligently. Jamie also provided a complimentary fence staining to go well with rest of the design.
