Constraction reviews in Arlington, Virginia

I had the unfortunate experience hiring the Home Run Builder/Hamid for a home addition project in Montgomery county MD, it has been an absolute nightmare from not the very beginning but after we paid him two significant upfront payments to three years after. I cannot emphasize enough how crucial it is to steer clear of this contractor if you value your hard-earned money and sanity.

Before signing the contract, things seems promising, Hamid came to our home and gave us a lot of promises and met our financial budget. Hamid provided an enticing proposal and claims he has a lot of experiences, showed us some pictures of his work and kept mentioning he can get good material oversea(China, Asian country), which we didn't mind because it met our budget. However, as soon as we signed the contract and handed over a substantial amount of money as an upfront payment, the trouble began.

First and foremost, Hamid/Home Run Builder blatantly disregarded the terms of the contract we had both agreed upon. They were supposed to ask us to pay the 2nd payment upon the "approval of Septic Installation from the Montgomery county and start of the Septic System Installation/Replacement", but instead Hamid got the crew came to our house started digging to prepare the "Perc Test" and he claimed that is the start of "Septic Installation" and the approval from county is coming. As inexperienced home owner without any experience in this type of work, we paid him the 2nd payment($49600), with initial deposit of ($50000), that was almost $100k given to him. After that, nightmare started, the work proceeded with snail's pace, with long period of inactivity. What Hamid does well is responding to your text and phone call, he will reply immediately but nothing was done until two to three months later. We had patiently worked with Hamid considering that he is also hiring other firm/engineer to do the actual work and the impression to us is that he had zero control over the sub-contractors he hired. So, we just patiently worked with Hamid/Home Run Builder for three years, finally we got the approval from Montgomery County to install/Replace the Septic system and the job got done.

The break point is after three years of patiently waiting and finally we thought we see the light at the end of other tunnel then Hamid closed the blind and shut the light off! After the Septic system is installed, yet the building permit is obtained because county is still asking for final Septic location to be on the Septic plan/site plan to reflect where it was installed. Hamid texted us and saying he is going to bring some one to do some prep work for foundation and WANT TO COLLECT THE NEXT PAYMENT!!!! His excuses is "To pay for things like engineer and deposit for foundations". We were like, what??? the $100k we paid so far is not enough to you to get those things done? And the contract term for the next payment is "Upon completion of footing foundation and slab"!!!! We got fooled once and he is trying to fool us again to make us pay him early in advance. He threatened us by saying he will be happy to send us the invoice for the engineer work that is required to get the building permit. We have a fixed priced contract, come on! We finally gave up and started to contact our lawyer. Our lawyer immediately pointed out that Hamid's VA Licence does not allow him to work in Montgomery county, Hamid is not MHIC licensed, which Hamid lied to us at the beginning that he can legally accept our project. Our lawyer asked Hamid to provide invoices he paid for the project so far and refund back the money unused but Hamid is unable to but claimed that he doesn't owe us any. We are suing him to seek the legal way to get our money back. But the three years of time we lost is gone forever.

This experience with Hamid has been a costly lesson in the importance of thoroughly researching contractors and insisting on strict adherence to contract terms. I strongly advise anyone considering hiring them to proceed with extreme caution or, better yet, avoid them altogether.

We contracted with Hamid and his team to add a second story addition and new kitchen to our 1950's split level ranch in McLean. I found out about Home Run Builder after seeing some work they did on a friend's house in Arlington and we interviewed 4 design/build firms for this project.

Hamid was the only person who didn't take the standard cookie cutter approach to the design and was able to completely transform the house, while staying within the original scope and budget. The build was very complicated taking over 7 months to complete, but his vision and team's skill level pulled it all together. The results are spectacular and far exceed our expectations.

I would highly recommend hiring Home Run Builder for your next project.

Home Run Builder conceptualized, designed, and built a unique exterior overhang for my front door. The results exceeded expectations and have yielded many compliments from neighbors and friends. Hamid and his team were quick to complete the project. They were thorough, professional, friendly, and communicative. I would hire them for additional work.

Hamid and his team did an exterior remodel on our Arlington single family home. We were pleased with everything about the experience. Hamid negotiated a fair price, and even threw in a few extras (e.g., door painting) at no additional charge. The work was performed quickly and efficiently, with no delay or hassle. Throughout, there was plenty of communication with lots of great design ideas. At the end, the team did a good job of clean up. Hamid was there to make sure we were happy at the final walkthrough, too. The few things that needed attention received it—promptly and with zero fuss from HRB. I’d highly recommend HRB to others and would personally use them for any future work we may have.

Hamid of Home Run Builders built our new deck and did a fabulous job! Such quality workmanship and attention to detail is hard to find in a contractor these days. He says "you're going to be happy" and that's because they do an excellent job and make sure you're happy. I highly recommend Home Run Builders for all your construction projects, large or small.

I hired HRB Design/Build to renovate an addition to my home, and I am very pleased with the results. They did an excellent job at a reasonable price, and they finished the project on time and within budget. The team was professional, courteous, and attentive to my needs and preferences. They used high-quality materials and equipment, and they followed the best practices and safety standards. They also cleaned up the site after each day of work, and they made sure I was satisfied with the final outcome. I would highly recommend HRB Design/Build to anyone looking for a reliable and trustworthy home construction company. They exceeded my expectations and delivered a beautiful and functional space for my home.

Hamid did a wonderful job on an addition for us. We had the plans but he improved on them. His crew was respectful and cleaned up after their work each day. They were all professional and very easy to work with. Their work was excellent. They were always punctual and did the work in record time.
We are planning on hiring his firm to do a compete remodel of our kitchen.

We had a great experience with this company. The owner (and project manager) was very communicative, responsive to our needs, and onsite regularly to monitor progress. The team was here consistently through the duration of the project but always let us know if they were not planning to work at our house on a given day. They worked with us on the design for our basement and never hesitated to pivot if it didn't turn out as we expected. They went above and beyond to give us a beautiful finished product. We are very happy and appreciate how smoothly the process went. I would use this company again!

HRB is an excellent company with exceptional team members. We chose a design, made a few adjustments and Hamid was supportive and worked with us throughout the whole process. Anything we asked to be done he tried to make it happen. He has excellent customer service skills and responds promptly whenever we expressed concerns or issues they were addressed and fixed. We would definitely hire HRB again and recommend this construction business to a couple close friends. Thank you Hamid and team!!

Muchas gracias Sasha!!!

We hired them for several remodeling projects in our home — a new bathroom, removing a wall, adding a structural beam, and some additional improvements. Everything turned out great and we’re very happy with the results. The quality of the work is great! It’s clear they really know what they’re doing.

The project took longer than expected due to workforce disruptions at the time, which were outside of their control, but communication was always good and the final result was worth it. They were also a pleasure to work with — very kind, respectful, and thoughtful throughout the process.

Overall, a very positive experience. I would definitely recommend them, especially if you’re looking for solid work done by nice, trustworthy people.

We love our home designed and remodeled by Lofft! They provided smart design ideas and high quality materials. We have only had a few minor issues, and their team has been very responsive to fix them as part of their warranty. I would definitely recommend.

They do great work and treat employee's well

They renovated my bathroom. 1 year later and everything is falling apart. Also never fully finished the job.

They came out to do an estimate for an addition, then never followed up. After two weeks I called, but they never answered or returned my calls. It has been 4 months, still no word.

Lofft did a wonderful job on our porch rebuild and patio, as well as a complete inside and outside paint reworking. I highly recommend them!

Lofft Construction is very professional. They do amazing work. Timely, reassuring of the work and have clear and concise plans. They definitely have my recommendation.

They did and excellent job remodeling my Bethesda Master Suite bathroom. I recommend them!

We love our new living room and kitchen layout! The remodel exceeded our expectations!

As a real estate professional, I highly recommend LOFFT Construction for the quality of their work and professionalism. No job is too big or too small for LOFFT.

Lofftconstruction provided an exceptional service experience for our family. It started with a very thorough consultation of all aspects of the design, various options and the creation of a model with an exact price already during our initial meeting. This was a refreshing change from our first in-home "consultation" with well-known firm, which lasted all of 15 minutes, and consisted primarily of all the things they really could or couldn't do at a cost of thousands of dollars more.

Eight weeks after our initial meeting, the job was done superbly in 12 days. Our questions and concerns were promptly and friendly addressed by Erick. The working team was professional and attentive to detail. The end result is a masterpiece. We could not be happier with our new floor, cabinets, shower and fixture installation, and recommend lofftconstruction for their honest work and value.
