The faucets in my tub were becoming a bit problematic so I decided to have them repaired. My regular plumber moved out-of-town. Since I had to go to the hospital every day for 10 days, I needed a Saturday appointment and I found Long’s who could come on Saturday. I spoke with Sherry who told me that, since I had my own parts, my price would be $189, otherwise it would be $357.

After I made the appointment, the day before Long’s was to arrive, one of my toilets started to do one of those annoying ‘mini-flushes’. Michael arrived on Saturday to repair the faucets.

As he was finishing fixing the faucets, I confirmed with him that, since I had my own parts, my price was the $189 that Sherry had quoted. I then asked him “what my bill would be if he ‘looked at’ the toilet?”. He looked at me, and with what I felt was an odd expression, he replied “$244”.

Believing that he meant $55 MORE ($189 + $55 = $244), and thinking that was reasonable just to ‘look at’ it, I said OK.

He looked at it and said ‘the parts were old and needed to be replaced’. I was surprised because just five days earlier, I’d just had all the parts replaced. Regardless, and not knowing exactly ‘what parts’ he was referring to, I said OK.

He replaced whatever parts that he was talking about. As he was leaving, he asked me to sign his tablet. There wasn’t anything on it for me to read, nor were there any dollar amounts shown. I repeat “there was NO price shown on the tablet that I signed, I did NOT see a price. And if I had seen the dollar amount on the tablet, I would have disputed the charges with Michael before he walked out my front door.

Days later, I opened Long’s e-mail with Invoice. THAT was when I saw that he charged me $433.59 -- NOT the $244 that he’d quoted me. THAT was when I called Long’s and spoke to Sherry. I told her that Michael had quoted me $244 for the faucet and toilet work! She replied in a rather odd tone of voice “I’m sorry you misunderstood”!

I didn’t MISunderstand anything. I asked Michael what my bill would be and he said $244! End of story.

He quoted me $244, instead he billed me $189 PLUS $244.59 for a total of $433.59! THAT’S CALLED “BAIT AND SWITCH”! THAT’S FRAUD AND THAT’S AGAINST THE LAW!

He lied and misdiagnosed the problem, replaced the inside parts (some of which were new just five days earlier), which did NOT fix the problem; and after he left, the toilet CONTINUED to malfunction, wouldn’t stop running, then wouldn’t flush at all. They had to send someone over to look at it again the following Saturday.

Long’s quoted one price, then charged me a different amount. THAT’S ‘BAIT AND SWITCH’! THAT’S FRAUD! When he asked me to sign, he did NOT show me what I was signing for. THAT’S FRAUD! Any way you look at it -- THAT’S FRAUD! The Consumer Protection Act of 1997 says so.

Other companies give a discount when more than one service is done on the same day! Guess what? Long’s DOES NOT DO THAT! FYI, I clicked on 'one star', otherwise the site would not have accepted my post. Actually, they deserve 'minus' ANY stars.

In response to their reply to my review. I contacted them over a week ago; they did NOT reply. I believe that that says A LOT about their lack of sincerity, and their lack of honesty, ethics, and integrity. DO NOT WORK WITH THEM!!!

I highly recommend Long's Corporation for your plumbing and heating needs. I had another company come out to look at my A/C and heating and was told I need to replace my units. I called Long for a second opinion and 4 years later, same units still working fine and maintained by Long's. I have had several plumbing issues which have been resolved promptly and cost-effectively by Long ( Sherry is the plumber I have worked with most often and my dogs love her too!). I am enrolled in their Diamond club too. It's a great value for the service provided. They are always professional, thorough, and nice. Need more vendors like them!

Long Corporation is a GREAT company. I had an issue with my furnace and the technician Steve provided OUTSTANDING service!!! He was at my home in no time. He was very courteous and knowledgeable. Steve diagnosed the problem and explained everything to me. The part that needed to be replaced was not on his truck, so he told me that as soon as the part is available, he would return to fix my furnace. Steve returned with the part in under an hour. He replaced the part in under thirty minutes and my furnace is up and running. Thank you so much Long Corporation and Steve for an AMAZING job.

I received a quick response to my leaking toilet tank problem. The plumber, Jorge, found the problem and came up with a solution that worked for me. He explained the cause (a worn gasket) and what it would cost to repair it. Once I authorized the repair, he completed the job promptly. Very impressive. Thanks to Long’s and Jorge for a job well done.

I stumbled upon Long's Corp via the Dominion Warranty. They did great work on my furnace a few times and the technician Steve was absolutely wonderful. I liked them so much that I enrolled in their Diamond Club for regular HVAC check ups in the spring and fall. More recently they helped me with a plumbing issue not covered by Dominion and actually found a part of the work which was covered by the warranty and helped me deal with Dominion to get it taken care of. So now, whether the repairs are covered by my warranty or not, I will always use only Long's for any HVAC or plumbing needs. Clearly Long's only employs very nice, helpful people in every capacity. Steve is THE BEST!!!

I thought the tech would change to have the bathroom sink lever go up and down because it is broken but he only installed a pop up plug that you have to manually push up and down with your finger inside the sink. He installed one that could make the lever go up and down in the basement sink but I tried it after he installed it and it didn’t work. He then adjusted it but it’s very hard to make it go up and down and we are afraid to touch it too much. He installed a wash basin in the basement which works great but wanted more money to install the soap dispenser that comes with it. Said he would install the soap dispenser for another $275. I paid $454 for the work and material of the pop up sink upstairs that doesn’t even work w a lever. $719 for the laundry water basin install which he said would cost more if he installed the soap dispenser that came with it. I paid for the water basin myself. $1,164 for cutting the dry wall and replacing a tub and shower faucet. I bought the shower head, faucet, shower lever myself. He charged me even more $482 for the second pop up sink in the basement that barely works. Brings the total to $2,819 without soap dispenser install. When I asked Felix if the $89 service fee is going to be applied toward this cost he told me that basically he isn’t going to charge me for it. So basically not going to give me the discount.

This company has saved me literally thousands of dollars in hvac service over the years. As a single mom homeowner it seems difficult to trust estimates, and the big name companies. I recommend this business to everyone I know. Steve came today at the beginning of a heat wave and fixed my ac so fast with kind and friendly service. Thank you so much!!

I had an issue with my shutoff valves in my old house. Long’s did a fabulous job with the repair.

Always great service. Steve, the technician, was wonderful - polite, knowledgeable, and patiently answered all my questions. I especially appreciate that they were able to replace my water heater tank on the same day and within a few hours.

Long's Corp. has been servicing our HVAC system for around 20 years. They installed our new system six years ago and we've never had a problem with it. They are honest, competitively priced and very customer-service oriented. Steve and Marty, the technicians who came today, are always great and we are happy Marty is back with the company.

Chosen by HomeServe. Steve replaced a 15 year old water heater. He was very pleasant. And it only took 2 or 3 hours.

Long's is a first rate company. We had water pressure issues and had two big name plumbing companies come to have a look at the issue. Both companies wanted to sell us a new water heater! It was Long's employee Mike who quickly assessed that we needed a new value. The big named plumbing companies employees work on commission -- not Long's so you won't be taken advantage of purely to earn that commission for something we didn't need. Long’s plumbing has been sent to my house by HomeServe multiple times and Mike is an excellent and skilled technician. I plan to use them even when out of warranty from HomeServe. You can’t replace experience and this company is first rate customer service as well. Mike also takes plenty of time to chat with me about my plumbing questions and educate me as well as I always have plenty of prevention questions. 5 star company you can trust! Mike has fully replaced my water heater and responded to a burst pipe emergency within only a couple hours and got my water back on the same afternoon!

I had an excellent experience with Long's Corporation while replacing a hot water heater. Their booking process and communication was excellent. When I asked to change the brand of water heater they were very agreeable and promptly made the switch. The technician was efficient, tidy and knowledgeable. Highly recommend the company.

I have used Long's for heating, air conditioning, and plumbing services since 2003. Their work has always been excellent. The entire team is knowledgeable, experienced, efficient, and friendly. They give good advice and explain options clearly. They always provide an estimate before starting any work, so there are never any surprises once the job is complete. They respond quickly during emergencies (eg., AC not working, plumbing backed up). They show up on time and always clean up the job area before they leave. Long's also offers an optional yearly maintenance membership, the Diamond Club, that covers twice yearly HVAC and/or plumbing checkups. It provides discounts on products and services and is reasonably priced; it is well worth it!
