This year, Chris Marshall, took over the landscape account for our subdivision in Fairfax Station. He's knowledgeable on all things horticultural and passionate about keeping our neighborhood beautiful. Both Tim and Chris know that I'm very particular about grounds maintenance details and they never fail to deliver.

Professional Grounds, Inc. also specializes in hardscape and design. They did an excellent job repairing a flagstone wall a few years ago and completing a larger hardscape project at our entrance in 2024. I highly recommend PGI!!🌳🌳🪷🪷

I manage a condominium community in Arlington, VA and hired ProGrounds one year ago to handle the Association's grounds contract. They provide quality service at a reasonable price and always contact ahead of time to ensure that we are prepared for their visit. They did quality work on a turf installation project for us as well. Jon is always responsive and helps to find us reasonable solutions at reasonable prices.

Wonderful company to work with! They do the landscaping on 2 of my communities and do a phenomenal job. I get no complaints about their services and tons of compliments. The grass looks amazing every time I come through for inspections. I will directly with Jon Z, and hes always responsive and patient when explaining things. Having contracted with several landscaping companies over the past ten years, I can honestly state that Pro Grounds has been by far at the top of the list! The owner is very customer service oriented, and super responsive to our requests, wish lists, and is just a nice guy. His teams do great work here at River Oaks Community Association. Jon Zalewski & Professional Grounds have been supporting our HOA for many years. They have provided exceptional customer service & always seek to go the extra mile for a client. Jon is professional & personable; he communicates clearly & is always available via phone, text, or email. Professional Grounds handles the routine lawn maintenance & landscaping of our HOA common areas (mowing, edging, mulching, trimming, lawn treatments, aeration, & overseeding). They also provide snow removal & salt treatment of our common area sidewalks. When we’ve had emergencies with fallen trees following storms, they’ve been responsive to send a crew to assess & address any immediate risk & handle the cleanup & removal. I’m impressed with the high degree of professionalism Jon Zalewski & Professional Grounds continue to provide our HOA. They work at engendering strong client relationships -- & it shows!

I'm an association manager, and deal with many different companies. Professional Grounds, specifically Jason Cave, has always been consistent. They are responsive, do great work, and all around great people. Any time I've had any type of an issue, Jason has been quick to resolve it. If it can't be resolved right away, Jason does a great job at keeping me updated and never makes me feel like I'm on the back burger. My Board is happy, therefore I am too. Jon and his crew at Pro Grounds do an excellent job of keeping our HOA well maintained. We are still a relatively new community and Jon has been very generous with his time and advice.

I am utterly disgusted by the utter incompetence and negligence displayed by Professional Grounds in their handling of my landscaping needs. Despite clearly communicating to them last year that my front garden was off-limits due to a contract oversight by my HOA, they have repeatedly ignored my requests and destroyed my property. This was after I used my money to refurbish my garden entirely when I purchased the property.

Last winter, three of my cherished plants perished due to their carelessness, forcing me to foot the bill for replacements. And now, despite assurances from their management that they would refrain from touching my garden again this year, they have once more ravaged it this winter, chopping everything down without a second thought. After I was told last year that they would not tend to my property. Resulting in my garden growing in directions I did not want, and plants and parts of plants dying.

Their lack of communication is appalling. Despite promises to provide proof of my property being on the "do not touch" list (that my HOA requested I provide to them), I have received nothing but silence after two weeks talking to a manger who said he would personally handle it. It's clear that they have no regard for their clients or their property, only concerned with collecting their paycheck.

Professional Grounds' behavior is not only disrespectful but downright irresponsible. After nearly two years of conversation and repeated requests, they have failed to uphold their end of the agreement, costing me time, money, and plants. Even though the manager has offered to reimburse me for plants as replacement, that requires me to do extra work and time, he also offered for his team to come back and do it for me, why would I want his staff to touch my property again when they can’t listen to instructions the first time?

I am beyond disappointed. Do not trust Professional Grounds with your property – they will only bring destruction and frustration.

A year later, in 2025, despite Jon’s clear communication with me, efforts to add me to their email list for neighborhood work notifications, and even placing a note next to my address on their work sheet—measures intended to prevent the same issue—Professional Grounds has once again repeated the same mistakes. This marks the third year in a row that my property has been disrespected, despite repeated assurances that my requests would be honored.

I have done everything within reason to communicate my wishes and protect my property, yet their team continues to neglect their promises, disregarding my right to maintain my own lawn with my own money and labor. I’ve even been advised to put up a sign in my yard, but what assurance do I have that their crew wouldn’t simply ignore it, just as they’ve ignored prior instructions?

The owner has once again offered to reimburse me for damaged plants and send a crew to undo the harm that has already been done—just as he did last year. But what good is a temporary fix if the same issue is bound to repeat in 2026? Why should I trust a company that has demonstrated, year after year, that they cannot follow through on their commitments?

Professional Grounds’ behavior is not only disrespectful but completely irresponsible. After nearly two years of discussions and repeated requests, they have failed to uphold their end of the agreement, costing me time, money, and plants. While reimbursement or replanting may seem like a solution, it still puts the burden on me—either to replace plants myself or to allow a crew that has repeatedly ignored my instructions to touch my property again.

This pattern of negligence is unacceptable, and at this point, I am at a loss for what more I can do to prevent this from happening again.

As a board member of HiddenBrooke community in Springfield we selected ProGrounds several years to maintain our community. They do an exceptional job with landscaping, pruning, mowing and snow removal. The supervisor Jon Zalewski, is responsive, knowledgeable and great the work with. I highly recommend ProGrounds.

Professional Grounds has been our Condo grounds manager for five years. Each year we upgrade our property with new plantings and redesign, section by section. Professional Grounds has provided excellent landscaping advice and worked within our budget to enhance our curb appeal and modernize our property. Everything is done on time, all questions are answered, and all plantings are of quality specimens.
I am the contact at Falls Station Condominiums and Chris Marshall is the Professional Grounds contact. Our relationship works seamlessly as the seasons evolve, everything is replaced or replanted with no effort on my part.

I would highly recommend Professional Grounds. They have been taking care of our neighborhood for several years. I have been board president for the past two years, so have developed a professional relationship with Ming, our account executive. He is very responsive with any questions or issues I may have. Many times coming the same day to take care of my concerns. Their prices are extremely competitive. As their contract was up for renewal, we had to get new quotes. PG was far less than any other company we received quotes from. Ming is very knowledgeable about all things plants, trees, drainage concerns etc. We had them powerwash and replace community signage, and again, PG were much more inexpensive than their competitors.

I have had the opportunity to work with PGI (specifically Jason) on multiple projects and contracts for Grounds maintenance. I have never been dissatisfied with his services or the workmanship of the crews. If there are any issues or discrepancies Jason is always quick to respond and address the issues with me.
