I have been using Freedom Tree Service for over eighteen years. They have done outstanding and very timely work in my yard on my trees.
I recommend them to every one that asks for a Tree service reference.
They also have the Top rating for quality and a 100% for overall performance from CheckBook Magazine here in the NVa area

I contacted Freedom on their contact form on their website, requesting an estimate for a lot of tree work I needed to get done on my property. I never heard from them at all. Just a complete failure on their part. On the same day, I contacted G & V Tree & Landscaping Service out of Springfield, VA. I heard back on the same day, and within a couple of days had an estimate. A week later and the work is complete, G & V earned $2000, I'm happy with the work, and Freedom gets one star because I don't have the option of giving zero stars.

They were very accommodating: good service from the office staff, met with the estimator, easy and cooperative scheduling, willing to accommodate my requirement to be on hand, the original estimator and crew head stayed through the entire job, asked me about one branch or another throughout the whole job, good clean up. I would use them again. There are cheaper companies but the cheaper one I sought was a headache. Not Freedom.

This is the second time in 5 years I have used this company to remove trees from my properties. 4 years ago they removed a big tree from my rental property and grounded out the stump. Their did an excellent job at an exceptional low price. I called on them again this year for a much smaller tree at my home. Again, they performed an excellent job of cutting the tree down, grounded the stump down so I could plant another tree in the same location, and cleaned up afterward. Again, they charged an exceptionally low price for a job well done! I will definitely use them again in the future and will refer them to anyone needing tree services.

My wife and I have used Freedom Tree Service for several years. They always provide excellent high quality service at competitive prices. They are a small business that is honest and conscientious. Highly recommended!

Positively fantastic tree removal service !! An arborist came out to view the tree and quickly informed us of the status. Freedom office contacted us, gave us a price for the job, which was very reasonable and placed us on their schedule. The guys were on time and were obviously well versed in how to do their jobs...they were safe, professional and efficient. They answered our questions and our back yard looked beautiful after they took down a 70 ft dead tree for us. The team cleared the branches, sawdust and remnants of the tree and left us with a manicured area around the cut area.. We would recommend FREEDOM TREE SERVICE to anyone who is in need of a tree removal. You'll get the best team in Northern Virginia, hands down !

Really thorough estimate process, including the arborist checking the overall health of the trees in our yard.

We really liked that Freedom broke down the estimate into options so that we could decide what our budget would allow. The project included removing two trees and crowning a third.

When the day came for the work to be done, the three man team worked efficiently and cleaned up the area. Zero issues!

Side note: Another local company has been doing work for a neighbor and we have been less than impressed with their crew (noisy, too many people just hanging around doing nothing) so I was happy to come across the great reviews for Freedom.

Highly recommend Freedom Tree Service to anyone needing tree removal, crowning, etc.

We had 6 large trees removed and 7 stumps ground. We were very pleased with their work as the trees were leaning and could have damaged the nearby homes. Howard was very knowledgeable and professional, and the crew were very friendly to work with. Shannon and MaryAnne were great with coordinating and scheduling.

Very poor experience with this company. A neighbor hired them, not me, to be clear. I’m leaving a review because their behavior was so unbelievably shocking. I was walking down the street with my 11 month old in a stroller and their truck drove through the neighborhood at the same time. They were driving fast, honked at me and my child aggressively to get out of their way, and continued on speeding past. I had to jump out of their way because the driver would not deviate from his path, although he had plenty of room and time to do so.

I had a very similar experience on 2 other occasions. Additionally, they leave debris all over the road from their work. Just very unpleasant, aggressive experience with this company, buyer beware. Folks, there are so many tree services out there, don’t waste your time with this one.

Freedom Tree Service did a fantastic job removing a dead tree and cutting back another one that was too close to the house.
They were on time, professional, and even removed a small pop-up tree that I was not aware of under the larger tree. They cleaned up after their work. Great service and very fair price!! You can trust them!!

I would highly recommend Freedom Tree Service. It was very easy and convenient to get a quote, to book our appointment, and to have the tree service completed. They were very courteous, professional, friendly, and exceeded my expectations. Something that should have taken a full day only took them three hours and they left my yard looking better than it was when they got there. We had limbs cut back that were hanging over our fence, tree shaping for our crape myrtles, and one dead tree cut down. Very happy with the results. Thank you!

They do very nice work. I had them trim two of my trees that had started to grow over top of the roof of my house and over my fence into the neighbor's yard. The crew came to my house and trimmed the trees exactly as I had requested them to do and they removed all the trimmings from my yard. I've used Freedom Tree Service about 7 times over many years. They provide excellent service at a very reasonable price. Howard Curtis is very knowledgeable about proper long-term tree care. Howard even once talked me out of having a tree removed that he explained was healthy and didn't need to come down. His team operates safely and carefully. When I had a huge tree dangerously overhanging my house, his team cut it down piece by piece without risking damage to my property. Every job they do ends with a clean yard and any stumps fully ground out so another tree could be planted in its place. Howard is a friendly guy and has even delivered me free wood chips on several occasions. When I shopped around for other tree services, Freedom's price comes in at or near the bottom, which is impressive considering how thorough and careful they are.

To the reviewer, Mr. Fallon, who gave 1 star for not getting a callback: You may have just gotten unlucky to call them on a day that they were extremely busy. I've never had a problem reaching them. I think it's a little picky to give a negative review when you didn't even use their service. Save the 1-star reviews for contractors that didn't keep their appointment or that did a lousy job.

Howard, the owner of Freedom Tree Service is very knowledgeable. His crew is great and they do great work. Their pricing is reasonable and when the work is done, the lawn and street are clean. I have used them several times, my mom has used them and I have refered friends to them as well.

Freedom Tree Service has removed many dead and fallen large trees from our own and our neighbors' properties. Their work is carefully and professionally done. I have used freedom tree on several occasions, both for my home tree work and for our HOA. My neighbor and friend recently passed and his widow needed a tree removed and so I set the work up with Freedom. As always, they did great work, but in this case they went above and beyond their normal high standards by removing a dead tree I had not noticed, at no cost, and believe it or not they tilled her garden. Their clean up is always fantastic as she noted that she did not even know they had been there until she noticed the tilled garden. Fantastic company. This level of professionalism is what I have experienced every time I use them. Courteous, conscientious and they act with integrity.

Freedom Tree Service has been out to trim several of my trees a few times now. They have always done an excellent job with the trimming and the clean up. Johnny has always been timely and professional and I trust his knowledge on trees. I plan to use their services again if I have any tree issues or trimming needed.
