He was very personable and willing to explain what was going on. I could not be more pleased with my overall experience with River City Heating and Air.

I would like to share my experience with River City Heating and Air, a service provider we have encountered frequently this summer due to issues with our HVAC system. While I believe in extending grace, I also value transparency and reliability in service.

These events have occurred approximately over the past month and a half, River City Heating and Air has visited our home on four occasions, each time diagnosing different issues with our HVAC system. Despite their efforts, the problem persisted, leaving our home unbearably hot shortly after each service visit. Recently, a technician mentioned placing a bolt on the damper handle to stabilize it, attributing the ongoing issues to its position. Unfortunately, this makeshift solution only provided temporary relief.

Yesterday, a different technician identified a dirty coil, a problem not previously noted by their colleagues. He also mentioned that the damper handle was broken and would require attention. I promptly contacted River City and my home warranty provider to address these issues, emphasizing the need for a thorough and lasting solution.

Given the frequency of service calls and the variation in diagnoses, I am concerned about the effectiveness and consistency of the service provided by River City Heating and Air. I have reached out to the company in hopes of resolving these ongoing issues promptly.

I intend to share this feedback to ensure that our HVAC system receives the necessary repairs to function reliably, particularly during the current hot weather. I appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to a satisfactory resolution.

I did not even want to give this company one star. How dare you think that this would be okay to do!?! This company has come out to our home five times at least. Our home owners warranty uses this company. Yesterday the company came out to our home to service our HVAC unit once again the repairman was out to assess why our heat was not working correctly. It was sweltering upstairs and freezing downstairs. We believe the first time the company came out the repairman must have broken off the lever to the downstairs dumper which controls the air flow downstairs. (My husband and I didn't know there was a lever there) This is the reason why the repairman that came out yesterday used a plastic fork and plastic knife on the dumper to change the air flow from upstairs to downstairs. By the way, it was freezing last night upstairs, so that was not the issue apparently. The fact that it was okay for you to leave our home after doing this is appalling and unacceptable. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and will call on Monday to the company to make a complaint. Disgusting service!! Horrible business! This was not a joke! He used a take out plastic fork and knife on our HVAC unit. I stand by my previous review above however I do appreciate the company coming out and fixing the situation.

River City Heating & Air is just an amazing company! Besides offering the best price on a new HVAC system within the greater Richmond area (trust me, we did our due diligence), they have amazing customer service. When we had an issue with the heat pump they sent multiple technicians out who all worked tirelessly until they got the issue resolved. Several of the techs even gave us their personal cell number and told us to contact them over night should the unit act up again. We feel that River City Heating & Air went above and beyond and are so happy and reassured that we ultimately chose them. Cannot recommend them enough!

They always answer phone, very friendly, get you scheduled, show up and with their experienced techs, complete repairs very quickly. If you haven't called them, please give them a try. I recently needed to replace my dual HVAC system and reached out to River City Heating & Air for a quote. The owner, Bobby Robinson, responded quickly and personally inspected my existing system before providing a fair and detailed estimate.

The work was completed promptly, and the technicians did an excellent job with the installation. They even returned to make adjustments as needed to ensure everything was working perfectly. Bobby went above and beyond to make sure I was completely satisfied, and his dedication to customer service really stood out.

I would definitely recommend River City Heating and Air to anyone. One of the best maintenance/repair service experiences I've ever had. My technician Brian came on time (they give you hour to hour tracking so you have a very close approximation of when they will show), and was friendly, efficient, and professional. Great guy. Didn't overcharge me (pricing was very affordable) or try to sell me on needless repairs. Honest company.

UPDATE: 8/19/25 Second Visit: I had another excellent experience with River City. This time Danny came out. My unit had been going out for days at a time, and Danny came and diagnosed the problem within five minutes of arriving. You can't go wrong with these guys! Everything is working great. 5/5 A+

New heat pump and air handler installed on 5/19/2026. The air handler coil had a refrigerant leak. Your install technician Ryan was able to source another coil from the manufacturer and replaced the faulty coil. Unfortunately that added an additional 3 hours to his time in a very hot attic but they did what needed to be done. Excellent customer service. Thank you for a job well done.

We went to River City to get a second quote. Bobby came out for free then spent a lot of time convincing us that what we planned to do was not in our best interest, even though it meant losing the sale. Instead he got us in touch with a trustworthy electrician so we could address the fundamental wiring issues with the house. I appreciate his integrity and would absolutely trust anything he says. When we get to the point where we’re ready to put in an AC unit, we will be using River City.

We had Danny come out to service our AC. He was friendly, professional and Knowledgeable. Price was very fair. I will defiantly be recommending Danny & River City Heating & Air to Family and friends.

Another great experience with River City Heating & Air!!! I had them replace my upstairs unit with a not so conventional system. It is a newer hi efficiency split heat pump with a regular indoor unit and a mini split type outdoor unit. They knocked it out of the park and did an outstanding job on the change out. There installers where incredibly courteous to me and my family, on time and cleaned up after themselves. We couldn't be happier. Thank you to Bobby, Matt and Lee for a great job!!!

A Hot & Horrible Experience. RCH came on 27 May 2022 to repair my A/C and told me I had a leak and needed freon. The cool temps lasted 5 days and then stopped. It took them over a week to come back out the second time. This visit I was told (as the technician was sprinting out of the house) that my A/C unit is doing all it can do and that the sub level temp was 20 degrees below what it should be(see video and the location of the techs thermometer). All in all the tech beat feet out of my home leaving us with an indoor temp of 82 degrees after there thermostat was set on 67 for over an hour and said this was normal.

They came out and gave me an honest answer on my hvac unit that completely quit working. They never tried to sell me anything. I asked for the estimate to replace my unit and they gave me a great deal on a sale unit. They are very kind and honest. I appreciated that. I now have a new unit that works better than I could have imagined! Highly recommend River city and their whole crew!
