I decided to try Nichols & Phipps after I received an initial estimate from another "big" company that went to my townhouse to inspect the clogged kitchen sink. An outrageously expensive estimate was given by the technician who spent a couple of minutes looking at it. Nichols & Phipps was next on my list to call and I am glad I did.

Nichols & Phipps provided me with a very reasonable estimate on the phone and sent Miguel to us on the same day. Miguel showed up on time and worked on the drain for more than 2 hours. He explained to us what the problem was and how to go about fixing it. He is professional, polite and knows what he is doing. And the finally cost was exact the estimated quote that was provided to me initially. I definitely recommend this company and they will be my go-to plumber from now on.

We hired Nichols & Phipps to replace all of the pipes in our home after we discovered it was full of polybutelene pipes during the home inspection. From the first call, we could tell that Fred really knew his stuff and he made sure we understood the process too. Living through any kind of construction work in your home is never fun, but the team kept the disruption to a minimum and did a professional job. Fred and the whole team were also great about communication and very responsive.

Nichols & Phipps has been my plumbing company of choice for several years. I am most impressed by their customer service and straight forward communication. From small faucet jobs to emergency service (like I just had today), I always get a straight assessment and fair pricing. I have never felt like they are "selling me something." I highly recommend them.

Could not be happier with the service I received from CFS. Hvac system was not working after two visits from another repairman. Called CFS and they were able to get me an appointment earlier than I had scheduled. Tommy the repairman was so helpful with solving my problem. I highly recommended calling CFS if anyone is having Hvac issues.

Called on a Monday morning for water leaking from gas boiler. They had a tech onsite in less than 2 hours. The problem was quickly assessed and explained in detail, then I was provided an estimate for repairs. Due to the age of the system, things did not go quite as easily as expected with other issues coming to light and ended up taking a lot more time than originally thought. In spite of the increased difficulty and additional techs coming onsite, there was never any hint to changing the original estimate. These folks are friendly, knowledgeable, honest and display a super level of integrity and pride in what they do. Trust is not easy to come by these days, but you can trust these folks.

Brad was very efficient and punctual. He arrived when he said he would and got the job done in a very timely manner. Very personable and professional and gave advice on the system with regards to maintenance without trying to sell us anything in "upgrades or extended warranties etc. I would not hesitate to use Nichols and Phipps in the future, plus the price was very reasonable

Had a very frustrating experience with this company. My AC has been out for several days in the midst of a pretty brutal heat wave. I called the day after it stopped working and they sent someone over almost right away, which was great. He took a look at my wall units and gave them a cleaning, but it didn't solve the problem. He told me that someone would reach out the next day to give me a quote on getting them fixed and/or replaced. He did have to charge me for the visit even though nothing got fixed, but said that charge would then be discounted from the additional service required to get functioning AC again.

When I didn't hear from anyone, I called the company again and they let me know the manager was out of office, so things were moving slower than usual, but that they would let the owner know directly and they would be in touch. When that didn't happen, I reached out again and was told someone would call me back later that day. Again, didn't happen. I reached out again and finally the manager was back and said my issue was priority, he would get back to me as soon as possible. You guessed it, he never got back to me. We're now a week out from the initial service visit and I still have no quote from them and no working AC.

I would've reached out to other places much sooner if they hadn't given me the "someone will get back to you right away" runaround for multiple days and promised me that the initial service charge would be incorporated into the final bill. If they weren't going to be able to handle my issue promptly, I wish they would have just told me. I understand wanting to keep business in the pipeline, but you can't play around with people who don't have AC during multiple days of sustained 95+ heat. That is dangerous.

I'm leaving an extra star for the service tech who came out for the initial visit (I think his name was Thomas), because he was great. If not for him, this would be a 1 star.

We inherited this company from the previous home owners and what a blessing. Because they’ve worked on our house for a long time, they understand and come prepared for the complexity. They have, what I think, is fair pricing, quick responses to emails and inquiries, and excellent follow up. They recommend additional services when it’s in the customer’s best interest and it’s honest.

Today Drew, and a few others, replaced our well pump and pressure tank. We’ve been in our current home just over 2 years, but Drew had been here 15 years ago to place that well pump. The gentlemen were here early and very kind. Drew recommended we replace our facets in the house, which we had considered prior. I did call to schedule an estimate for the facets. The office staff is kind and quick in scheduling.

I called when the heat went out in my house. I called Nick and Phillips who have been here previously and told them my situation and the woman who helped me was very kind and immediately booked a technician to come that day. The technician was great! He found the problem quickly and had to leave to get the part and returned shortly there after and fixed the problem in a short time.
I would recommend Nichols add Phipps for any plumbing heating and air conditioning issues.

Extremely pleased with all aspects of this service from scheduling, pricing through to installation. They repiped my entire plumbing system in 2023 and most recently replaced my AC. My AC died on 7/23/24 and I called Nichols and Phipps late in the afternoon they responded immediately with next day availability. They provided an extremely reasonable quote within an hour of the call and confirmed the work order for the next morning. The technicians arrived at 9am to start removal of the old unit while another one drove Richmond VA (2hrs from my house) to pick up the carrier unit. The installation went smoothly, installers were professional, took care to make sure the floors were covered and cleaned up after. As a homeowner it is often hard to find companies and contractors that do great work at a reasonable cost and I am soo happy I found this company won’t go anywhere else ever!!!

Fred and his team are wonderful!! They do what they say and say what they do. Totally trustworthy, reliable and knowledgeable. And fairly priced too. I will not go anywhere else for plumbing, HVAC, or electrical. These guys are fantastic!

Nichols and Phipps did an incredible job replacing the polybutylene pipes in my condo with PEX pipes. Fred made the whole process as stress-free as possible, and his team demonstrated true skill and professionalism in what was a complex job. Fred quoted me a fair price, especially given the difficulties of the work. Nichols and Phipps also replaced my water heater and completed some electrical work.

More recently, I worked with Nick on getting my toilets replaced. He was extremely prompt and helpful in organizing the installation, and offered very fair prices.

I am also a member of Nichols and Phipps’ Comfot Club for routine servicing of my HVAC. I highly recommend their services and look forward to having them for future jobs.

For the past 8 years this company has serviced my HVAC system. I have not had any major problems. The technicians are always polite and answer any questions I have. This week I came home from Thanksgiving to find my heat not working. Several members of the Nichols and Phipps teamwork together to try to fix my system. I was impressed with their diligence. I'm thankful that I was a member of their comfort club. They address my new issues quickly and with dedication and knowledge.

Everyone I interacted with (Christian, Karen, Robert, and Jose) was very helpful and professional. I called a least 5 different plumbers to do my due diligence, but Nichols & Phipps stood out as the best option. They took the time to discuss my water heater options and clearly answered my questions while also providing the best price. I recently bought my first home and was looking around for different Plumbing/ HVAC companies. I had one previously come over and said I needed a new A/C unit for $12,000. Fred the owner then comes over after looking at my inspection list and educated me on what was needed and what wasn’t. He was very helpful beyond the plumbing and HVAC and offered advice as a first time home owner. One of his plumbers then came over and was very professional and informative on my plumbing system. HVAC guy was the same, very respectful and professional. Offered realistic advice and they didn’t try to up-charge me on anything like the previous company did. I appreciate their honesty, initiative to help, and professionalism they showed while over, especially as a first time home owner. I would definitely recommend to others and will continue to use them for all plumbing and HVAC related concerns.

We are first time home buyers and the major issue with our house is the polybutylene piping. Our realtor helped us look for a quality and highly valued plumbing company. After talking to numerous companies, Nichols and Phipps gave us the most affordable quote and they made us very comfortable from the start.
