HVAC reviews in Richland, Washington

I asked them for an estimate for a heat pump in my new workshop. A guy showed up and took information, and promised to get back to me with an estimate in a few days. I never got anything, so I called and asked what happened. They said they would get the estimate in a couple more days, but I never received anything. Unprofessional and unreliable. I went with another local company, got a good price and the unit works well.

Shawn was awesome, I told him I wanted a bit of a tutorial as he was conducting the annual heating service and he gladly showed me what he was doing step by step. He was professional and confident in his abilities and he worked efficiently to take the time he said it would to complete the job. With winters around us getting colder I’m confident my system stays up and running. Shawn is clearly an asset to Total Energy Management. I also have to give props to Mike DePeel at TEM, 5 years ago, Mike designed the three zone carrier infinity series for this home and I’ve never been happier with it. Thank you!

Received prompt professional assistance over the weekend both from TEM Management as well as field rep after our AC stopped working. The TEM team is always great to work with.

Great company! Unlike many of the other home HVAC companies in town, they aren't looking to rip you off. Willing to sell parts to the public, and they fixed my repair job for an extremely reasonable price.
Saved me over $1500 from using a different company. -
Total Energy installed a wireless thermostat for my Carrier heat pump system and performed a scheduled service. The installation was done flawlessly and quickly, along with the service. I have always received superior service from TEM and highly recommend them to anyone needing service on their system or installation of a new system!

These guys just finished an install of a new ductless heating and AC for me. They did an excellent job that is very clean and efficient. My old system died on me and these guys were able to get this all taken care of quickly. We have heard good things about them and definitely picked the right team for this job.

I have used total energy management for 20 years now and they have been great in meeting all my needs and telling me Tips on how to keep my air conditioning and my Heating system going. I especially like the continuity of care that they give to their customers it's nice to see the same friendly face year after year.

Our technician was on time and did a thorough job evaluating our AC system. Eduardo H was both friendly and professional as he explained everything in simple to understand terms. His use of a mask and social distancing was very appreciated. Total Energy Management is my go to AC&Heating system maintenance company.

The technician performed the first seasonal check on my HVAC unit. The thermostat had been “going dark” intermittently and he figured out that it was an overheating issue causing it to shut off and not a thermostat problem. I appreciate his determination to troubleshoot the issue and not just assume it was the stat, which saved me some money!

So happy we went with Total Energy Management for our AC repair needs. The technician Adrian was here before scheduled time and very proficient in his quality of workmanship. He had what he needed, on hand, to have our AC up and running again, in no time, during this 100°+ weather! Thank you for your superior quality and work. We will, from now on, call Total Energy Management for all our HVAC needs!

I just came home to my new ductless heating and cooling unit. For the first time my whole house was warm! The crew did an amazing job - everything was clean and locked up. The installation looks great - it's by far the best investment and upgrade I've made. Thank you so much for the exceptional customer service and professional expertise installing the new unit! You are terrific!!!!!

Had one of their sales reps come out on a Thursday. Went over the whole project from start to finish. When the sales tech left he made the comment of give me a couple days this is a big project so earlier would me Wednesday the following week. I thought this was weird as this was the 4th company I have had out and all the rest had a quote within 24 hours. But I wanted to give them a shot.
Wednesday comes and goes, then Thursday, then today Friday. A week after the sales tech comes out I still have no estimate.
Easiest part of the job, and the company can’t even do that.
Why would I actually go with this company if they can’t even give out quotes. $41,000 job out the window. For this company. Total Energy must not need residential customers.
Thanks for nothing! -
Our service guy, Noah, was excellent. He was very knowledgeable and went above and beyond to be sure we had heat in our house, even after his long day of house calls. I highly recommend Noah to anyone with HVAC issues

Retrofit crew did a pretty decent job. A bit of a challenge retro due to how the old system was installed. At the onset of the job, John mentioned that it was likely we could keep the old indoor unit for use in the shop or another non- critical application. I was going along that premise and in the end they had to demo it making it unusable. Not a huge deal, but communication of the situation would have been good.
They had to trim the sheet metal ducting on the supply side to shorten it so the new unit would fit. They did not vacuum out the trimmings, slag, etc and after it was making some strange sounds after they left, I had to remove the filter and squeeze through the filter box to vacuum the trimmed pieces. Again, not a huge deal, but much easier to do when the duct was wide open.
After they left, we see a relatively large grease spot on our three week old carpet. Not sure if it was from the old unit, shoes, etc…
Lastly, the start up appeared to be super rushed and not thoroughly commissioned. We noticed the high pressure line in the house was icing up and thawing, creating a wet spot on the carpet after they left. Installers also said that thermostat was not capable of showing two stages, as the compressor is a two stage unit, stat would only show if it was off or on.
I requested a service call as the system would never go into heating mode, but was always in Aux heating. That coupled with the high pressure line icing up was not right. Shaun, the service Tech that came out appeared to know his stuff and resolved the issues. After the original installation, the stat was not changed to operate the slide valve in the correct position for heating, and was instead cooling. The heat pump was receiving a cool signal causing the aux heat to run continuously to achieve temp, basically fighting each other. Once the stat was changed to the correct setting, all has settled down and is working well. In order to get the heat pump to operate with both stages, the second stage had to be enabled in the stat to tell the unit to run stage 2 when needed. Now when I check the equipment status, it tells me the status of stage 1, stage 2, and aux heating. Something I was told the stat was not capable of. 🤔 Maybe more education for the retro team, or slow down and do the correct job thoroughly and correctly to begin with.
I understand things happen, installations turn challenging, etc… but the retro team needs to be sure and thoroughly check the system upon start up and commissioning. Is there a chance something else was missed? Seems that the settings issue would have raised its head when checking the pressures of the system during commissioning. Was that completed? With the way the system was left after the installation, it leaves several questions that could be asked as to system operation, optimization, efficiency, life expectancy, etc…. -
The entire team that worked on my air conditioning system were fantastic, all very polite and accommodating to our situation. After suffering a few days in 90+ degrees with a broken system,
they were able to replace my compressor and coil in one visit and get my house livable again!
Highly recommend Total Energy Management! -
Jose came out to our house to do routine maintenance on our heat pumps. He was knowledgeable and professional. We have been a customer of Total Energy Management for over 10 years and their service has improved recently.

Super appreciate Rowdy Yates and his fast, friendly service! Dude gave us awesome same day service when our HVAC failed during a 110° heat wave . We called him in the AM and by PM, had a signed contract for a new unit plus delivery of a loaner AC unit to hold us over until installation in just a few days from now. Great job, Rowdy!

I got both my HVAC unit and my electric panel replaced.
I felt I got a quality system at a fair price. My heating and air system is saving me 40-45% on my electric bill each month!
I appreciated the communication from the salesman, installers, and electrician.
Both my heating and air and my electric panel were unique or special configurations to my condominium. They found what I needed, where others gave up or were too expensive.
I highly recommend Total Energy Management.
After having the above new system installed in 2019, I continue to have regular maintenance performed. This gives me a ten year warranty!
It’s doing great. My electric bills are low, average over 12 months 80-85 a month. No complaints here. -
Rowdy came out to give a bid for leveling the outside air conditioner condenser unit. When he saw it, he said that it was an easy fix and leveled it right then! It took him about five to ten minutes. He was friendly and said no charge! Another HVAC company had told me it would cost about $900.
