We used Seattle Sustainable Landscapes last year to prep our sprinkler system prior to winter setting in. We had no issues with that service and everything was fine. Fast forward to April 21st of this year and I received and email from SSL telling me that they'd scheduled a "Spring Start-up" service appointment for April 30th. I was surprised to see this email as I DID NOT schedule an appointment with them. They basically pushed this appointment on us even though we never asked for it.

I replied to the email and asked that the appointment be cancelled as I had never asked for it. Fernando Gonzalez responded saying that they had cancelled the appointment. He never gave an explanation of why the appointment was created without our consent in the first place.

Fast forward again to today, April 30th, and two technicians show up to my house to complete the service appointment that I never asked for and that I specifically requested be cancelled. The techs were nice and left. Fernando responded to this situation by saying there was some issue with their scheduling system.

Anyway, I feel that any company that pushes services on you and creates appointments without your knowledge or consent isn't trustworthy. I doubt I would use their services again.

I have been using this company now for a year. I have them do bi-monthly lawn maintenance in the spring and summer and monthly yard clean up in the winter. They have always been reliable, effecient and my yard looks beautiful after each visit. I trust Jeff and his crew to do an awesome job for me each and every time and have never been disappointed.

I reached out to Seattle Sustainable Landscapes to see if I might possibly be in their service area for a residential landscape design even though I'm in Tacoma. I'd been having trouble finding a landscaping company that had sustainability as a main principal so I was casting a wider net. David responded right away and let me know upfront that they weren't able to travel that far south, but he was able to suggest a company in my area that I ended up really liking and contracting with. He also sent me another message with additional resources and organizations I could look through. I really appreciated his promptness, honesty, and the fact he took the time to help me even though I wasn't able to become a client. Thank you!

We've hired Seattle Sustainable Landscapes for irrigation winterization and spring prep, as well for recurring landscaping maintenance and cleanup. They are incredible - both their team and their owners.

Their customer service is extraordinary, their onboarding (pricing, brochure, meet and greet, service setup) is flawless, and the actual landscaping maintenance is pristine. They are meticulous, on time, and always do an incredible job, even with special requests.

They replaced an arborvitae in the front, cleared brush from our hedge row, and tackled the overgrowth on our back porch bricks. Everything looks so much cleaner and well-kept now. Poor Communication and Customer Service
I used this company for sprinkler winterization last fall. When I turned the system on the following summer, I discovered water gushing from underground, indicating a potential leak. What followed was a frustrating experience that revealed several issues with their business practices.

The main problems:
Extremely slow communication (took over a week to get initial responses, required multiple follow-ups)
Lack of transparency during repair process (no updates during/after the visit)
Poor warranty handling (initially mentioned warranty coverage for their mistakes, but later completely ignored this discussion)
Questionable billing practices (attempted to offer 15% discount but instead erroneously added $100 to the bill)
No documentation provided (no pictures of replaced parts or explanation of what caused the leak - "due to insufficient glue")
While they did eventually fix the leak, their overall handling of the situation was unprofessional. As a customer, I was particularly disappointed by their refusal to take responsibility or even properly investigate whether the leak was caused by improper winterization. The complete lack of proactive communication meant I had to constantly follow up to get any information about the status of my repair.

I cannot recommend this business until they improve their communication, increase transparency in their decision-making process, and properly honor their warranty commitments when issues arise from their work.

Our Christmas lights installed by Seattle Sustainable Landscapes are so cheerful and beautiful! They had great options to choose from and we were able to find classic colored lights that we love. They were super prompt with making appointments and well priced. I’d been thinking of getting professional lights for a few years and were so happy we did!

I cant say enough about David, Chris and the Seattle Sustainable Landscapes crew. I hired them to help me with my yard and then, hired them to maintain the grounds at my church. They are professional, while being kind and helpful. They always do exactly what they say they will do, with a bit extra when they notice something else that needs to be done. The grounds of the church have never looked so well cared for. When we asked if they can do lighting projects, we learned Chris is a landscape lighting expert! We worked with David and Chris to come up with a plan that stayed within our budget. They delivered the lighting installation on time and on budget and the Church looks amazing!

We had them do a four hour leaf removal service in the backyard and I am amazed at what they accomplished. The yard looks great, they took the time to clean all the corners abd hard to reach places on the deck where leaves had built up, they cleaned the leaves off my kids playset, they got everything in the flower beds between the plants. Easy to schedule and overall it was so worth it and I will do this every year now!

I had such a great experience working with the SSL team on building a fence where jasmine could grow. Ray, Adrianna, and the rest of the team made the entire planning process super seamless and easy. I really appreciated how communicative they were and how well they understood my vision. I’m so happy with how the fence and jasmine turned out and would highly recommend for any landscape design!

Great landscape designs, and they have the best bellevue artificial grass installations in the area.
