Really appreciate James' work on our irrigation system!
The best thing I like about James is the communication. He communicates greatly about what he's going to do and why. He's very responsive and layouts the details about the cost in the quote, like how much is the material, and how much is the labor. And he's the only one doing so among 5+ companies I quoted.
Right in the middle of the project, there is issue with my side yard and the builder needs to come in and do some work while we paused the irrigation system project. James is proactively checking with the builder on the schedules to make sure the collaboration is smooth, and it is! He's also providing some suggestions to us about the builder's project which we really appreciate.
He's also a hard working guy who comes in early in the morning and lefts late till 6 or even later.
Overall I think it is a great experience and he's the go-to person in the future if I need some more upgrades in the yard.

James and his team did a great job. They returned calls promptly and did what they said they would do. Landscape looks lovely. I’d definitely ask them back.

James is a pleasure to work with and I'd fully recommend him- 5 stars! James recently completed a brick paver patio and retaining wall. My wife and I found him upfront and transparent - two cherished qualities in a contractor. His proposal was competitive with other quotes we got and the quality of both his work and his customer service were head and shoulders above the rest. Beacon Hill Lawn and Landscaping went the extra mile to make sure we were happy with the work and he brings a "white-glove" approach to working in our backyard.

After starting the relationship as a customer, James and I have been able to work on a couple of construction projects. He excels as a colleague and thought partner. Probably not as relevant for the average Google review reader, but I continue to be impressed with his directness, honesty and high caliber craftsmanship.

James installed a 5-zone drip irrigation system. We have a landscaped yard, from the front parking strip, to the front, side and back rock gardens. James spent quality time with us planning the installation, explaining the pros and cons of various alternatives. We have an old galvanized pipe system partially updated with copper. James tapped into the newer copper system so we would not have to redo the connection to the irrigation system when we upgrade the rest of our piping. Routing the lines in certain areas of our installation was also an issue he discussed with us extensively before deciding on the best alternative. James also took photos during the whole process so we have both a before and after installation photo gallery. This shows us where all the lines are run so we can modify the system as our needs change. We also have photos of the water lines installed in our crawl space so we know where those are as well. James was also very responsive when we discovered a disconnected line that probably occurred after we had some mulch installed. He came out, repaired the break and tested the system as well as showing me how to repair and modify the system myself so I wouldn't need to call him out for minor stuff. Overall it was a quality installation. We were kept well informed throughout the process and we felt we had great customer support both during and after the installation.

James came over for a consultation at my home. Admittedly I was nervous since I had never done a landscape makeover before. But James walked me through the entire process in meticulous details... He was extremely knowledgeable, thorough, and quite pleasant to talk to. I especially appreciated James's honesty. This was one of the best experiences I've had with a contractor. Highly recommend!

James came to our house to talk about our custom patio paver project. He immediately saw the issues that would make it tricky and was creative and super attentive to the details. He clearly knows materials and will get everything done right, from the drainage to the design, to make sure the finished product looks great and lasts a long time. Our cracked, damaged, asphalt-patched front walkway had surrendered to old age and the challenge of invasive roots from mature trees. Now, after careful, skilled professional work done with an artist’s eye and craftsman’s integrity, a beautiful path replaces it. Extensive prep work and landscaper’s knowledge protected adjacent plantings. Great job. The end result was far better than we could have imagined.

James (and assistant Artem) did a phenomenal job correcting my patio paver jointing sand issues and sealing them for stability. James researched the issue and solution, and followed up by communicating what he found. It was not an easy fix, but they tackled it and the outcome is beyond what I’d hoped for.
Along the way, James also found wobbly pavers and those were also fixed. I cannot say how much I appreciate his efforts, especially putting up a tent to protect my plants from being splattered with jointing sand.
And…he even washed my windows with the pressure washer he’d been using!!! That was unexpected!

After reading all of the stellar reviews about James and Pacific Custom Pavers & Landscape, I contacted James in the beginning of May to have him bid on re-landscaping our side and backyard. This project involves hardscape, lots of planting, and replacing fencing. Much to my chagrin, James told me that he is booked solid for the season. He was on his drive home when we spoke, and he spent 45 minutes talking to me about the project, and educating me about questions to ask other landscapers. He then gave me referrals for other reputable landscapers and tradespeople. We ended up hiring from the people and companies James recommended. After our initial conversation, I texted James a few times with additional questions, and he answered every time. I know that James saved us from possibly hiring the wrong people, and I so appreciated the time he gave me when he knew he wasn't going to be doing the job. I can see why he's all booked up. James is very knowledgeable, and is a kind and honest person to boot. Hire him if he has time in his schedule!

We had a water feature which failed to start this season. James Barger, owner of Beacon Hill Pavers and Landscapes, came out to diagnose and fix the problem. Rarely have I felt so comfortable with the explanations provided on the nuts-and-bolts of what needed to be fixed and the work performed. Highly recommended!

James was wonderful to work with. He was responsive and professional. Our previous patio was in desperate need of replacing - James and his team worked efficiently, and with care to make sure our job was done seamlessly. Our concrete patio turned out great and we're very pleased with the end result.

I honestly cannot recommend Beacon Hill Landscaping enough. We had a side yard with a pretty severe slope and were looking to create a nice patio area that we could put furniture on. We also had a muddy route to the side yard that we wanted a nice walkway for that would connect to the patio. James walked us through the whole process and shared his extensive knowledge with us (we went over viable options to get what we wanted, drainage, erosion etc) and his team painstakingly got the foundation of the project just right so the resultant walkways and retaining walls were impeccable. He even used some of the extra gravel we had left over to reinforce our rocky driveway! Also when the job was done, he came back twice to ensure everything was exactly perfect, sandblasting the walk and checking to see if he needed to fill in any gaps between pavers. We have a house that needed a lot of love over the last 5 years and we have gone through a lot of contractors for various services, but none of them have matched the hard work, attention to detail, and level of service that James and his team provided. On top of that, James is just a cool dude. Five stars, 10/10

Beacon Hill was absolutely wonderful. James was honest, thorough, timely, and honestly exceeded our expectations. Beacon Hill Landscaping put a heavy gazebo together and a beautiful foundation for it.

James worked with our budget and gave us lots of options to help achieve our goals-he explained everything without being condescending and gave fair prices. We will not hesitate to use Beacon Hill Landscaping again, and cannot recommend them highly enough!

Naturally I forgot to take before pictures but my lawn was gnarly before James worked to clean it up by trimming hedges, edging, removing weeds and evil morning glory vines that were taking over the planter, and then adding new mulch and plants.

He was very easy to work with and very communicative and was able to schedule the work less than a week after coming over for an estimate.

I also appreciate the time he took to understand my needs, explain the plant options, and provide different options to work within my target budget.

James and his crew helped us complete our patio job. We needed to have the base finished and our pavers laid. He came up with a great solution for the problem that our patio retaining wall wasn’t square and put in some great polished concrete to fill those spaces. The final result looks so good. I hired James to clean up my yard before listing my home for sale. My yard was full of weeds, the front yard shrubs were overgrown, and the grass had patchy spots as you can see in my before photos.

He and his team did an excellent job pulling out weeds, replacing shrubs, and planting new sod. Now the yard is in top shape for listing photos! I would recommend James and his team to anyone with a yard that needs some TLC.

James did an amazing job installing a large patio. It was a tricky job, as the yard has a huge slope in it. He solved it by adding some stairs, which look great. He also built some really nice stairs leading into the house. He does meticulous work and is truly a perfectionist. Besides his great work, he's the nicest guy. I would definitely hire him again!

James helped us baby-proof the fountain at our house to make it safe for our toddler. The solution he came up with, adding a structure underneath with a layer of rocks on top, turned out beautiful! Aesthetically it's a big upgrade, and we can have peace of mind knowing we don't have an open water feature that's hazardous for our little one. James was amazing in helping us figure this out, and troubleshooting issues with the fountain. Thank you James!
