Tried them out. The first 2 people didn't show up, 3rd did. The intro offer was $19.99. I then tried to cancel but the website doesn't allow you to cancel, and the app wouldn't let me until I reached my "3 service minimum". That was a surprise - The buried the 3 service limit in the fine print. COMPLETELY DISHONEST

I contacted support and told them to cancel, was told there's a 3 service minimum. I told them I would dispute the charge with my credit card if they didn't refund my money. They decided to give me a refund.

Huge hassle, and they are out to steal your money without providing a good service.

This company has serious operational flaws that are detrimental to customers, contractors, , & the company itself. customer satisfaction is not their goal, they do not value their contractors, and their "policies" are going to put them out of business, if their lack of transparency involving account records does not first.
Customers are often overcharged for incomplete work, contractors are not paid for work they did do, and satisfied customers’ tips don't reach the correct contractor due to a flawed, glitchy AI-based system. Contractors are penalized for issues out of their control like customer reschedules or bad weather. Customer support offers little help, repeated complaints are ignored, contractors are not paid when sent to properties that have requested to cancel service multiple times. Oh and record keeping is an absolute joke.
You cannot view any of the reviews/ratings you've received, nor any of your past jobs. When you request these records or information regarding your account, you're told there are no records and they make baseless decisions without any records or evidence.
Without major changes, this company will not last long.

LawnStarter is easier than ordering DoorDash, glad it takes away all the awkwardness of finding someone to do my lawn on my own. Also it’s easy to pause or rechedule service. And I like that you can easily order other services and book them fairly quickly. It’s consistently good and I appreciate that.

This service has its ups and downs, but overall I really like it. I like being able to get it all taken care of on an app. When I've had the same mowers regularly it's gone really well. When I was in between regular mowers it was very rocky with partial mows, getting reassigned but not getting mowed, etc. The crew I have now is great.

Michael did a fantastic job on our lawn! I highly recommend Michael and lawn starter for any lawn service. I told a few guys at work and they said they’ll be calling in the spring.

Update on 1st July 2025: After I posted my last review, the good thing that happened was that a consultant, Janice, reached out to me from the Consumer Complaints Bureau. Janice was really patient in hearing my issue out and was able to assist me in getting my refund as well as cancel my remaining visits as per my request. As a thank you, updating my 1 star review to 4 star.

June 2025: This has been a process of complete loss of trust.

My first service was scheduled for May 17. I was continuously communicating with the pro over the chat app to confirm his timing but the next thing I know I get a message saying my service was completed on May 16. I wasn't even aware of what service was completed. I had signed up on an offer that was never applied and was charged Double of what I expected to pay. The pictures that were provided for the job done were incorrect. The back yard pictures were updated for both front and back yard (there is no grass in the front yard) and I had to go through a laborious long call to get the charges adjusted based on what was done. I specifically also requested the agent to put a note that the pro should notify me before coming for the service.

Cut to a month later, I again get a notification that my service was completed and I was charged $55. Now, this is so bizarre for many reasons. For one, since the last incident I started locking my backyard gates since I didn't want the service to be done in my absence. How did anyone even enter the backyard? Either they trespassed a locked gate and entered which is wrong at so many levels or they never completed the service and I was charged incorrectly. In either case, I was wrongfully charged and have lost any trust I had left in their processes.

I called up their customer care on this latest issue and the associate offered me a $15 credit. I don't understand the math, I am charged $55 for something that probably did not happen and am being offered a refund of $15? There was no resolution over the call since the pro needed to be contacted first. No pictures of the said service were shared.

And in one case or another, I am highly regretting signing up for this company. They bind you to a minimum 3 service commitment but none of it is worth it! You're charged out of the blue and then you end up wasting hours figuring out the resolution and next steps.

I have been using Lawn Starter for about two years now to maintain a lot, in 78207 - TX, I own staying out of town. Through a neighbor, I was recently made aware that the lot was overgrown and hasn’t been tended to in 8 months.

LawnStarter, all the while, charged payments without ensuring that their providers performed mowing.
Even after I reached out to Lawn Starter, customer support mentioned that they could not address this dispute before the City's abatement deadline because they were backlogged with complaints (another red flag). I am left with no choice but to spend $1000 to cover LawnStarter’s mistake.
I feel deceived, and the least I could do is put this review out here to warn others not to use LawnStarter.

We have been consistently using Unique Landscaping via LawnStarter for over a year now and cannot recommend them enough. It is a simple sign up process and affordable. Communication is easy through the app and easy to use. The team at Unique are always on top of things and never cut corners.

After years of hiring lawn services this is the easiest and effective app we have experienced. Highly recommended!

Love my pro Conner, but the company is not good at all, a 1 star rating for Lawn Starter. They have given me a new pro, and I will be canceling all yard service with this company. Had I not been given a new pro, I would stay with them.

This was the worst lawn service i have ever received. After rescheduling 3 times, the provider only mowed the front and ignored the back yard.

After calling to understand why the backyard was not mowed, the provider came to mow the back yard and then left grass clippings in the flower beds and on the lower deck. In addition, I was charged for a second mow when the the entire yard was not mowed in the 1st place. The last straw was that the provider then left a broken riding mower in my back yard for over two weeks.

Communicating to clarify any issues would have been helpful. Instead my account was credited and then the service was canceled. I still have not received a refund or the service that I paid for.

I would not recommend this business.

Started using LawnStarter a couple months ago after using several other companies that over charged. LawnStarter is the best service, very flexible terms. They even have a great app that let's you skip a service if your grass doesn't need done.

This team rebuilt the playground at my daughter’s daycare and did such an incredible job. The crew was amazing throughout, they were thoughtful of every weird situation (how do you avoid jackhammering during nap time), and just really delivered. I cannot recommend them enough.

Absolutely horrible business don't go here. Hired them to do my walkway and they barely even put the stones into the ground they were jist set on top of roughly places dirt. Didn't clean up after themselves and were talking weird political talk the whole time outside while I watched TV waiting for them to finish

After interviewing a string of landscapers we were super pleased to work with Gabe and the crew at Sage and Stone. They did excellent work, were super responsive, and stuck with it until it was all done right. They always did a good job of cleaning up after themselves and generally made it a really fun, easy process. Huge thumbs up!

Sage and Stone did a brilliant job designing the layout of raised beds in my back yard, laying out a stone pathway, and planting the surrounding beds with interesting, beautiful plants. They were knowledgeable, skillful, and hard workers. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.
