Today I was with a friend to help her find something for her dog. The staff was pretty helpful with finding the right things for her dog. Saw a few cute chinchillas!

This is a small, local business.
I have gone here for over 40 years, for both pet and garden needs.
They have cat food my geriatric cat with allergy issues eats and loves. It is more affordable than the vet food.
Today I was getting seeds. It is late in the year so they are pretty picked over. However, when I couldn't find the 4 of the items I was looking for, without even asking, the sales girl came over and helped. She found one of them, but the other three were out of stock.
This is a solid company, and is worth supporting.

Too bad, we used to really like this place! Today, because I didn't have a receipt and the transaction could not be found in their system ,they wouldn't return the exact same grow light!! The ballast stopped working after a week- I even found the credit card transaction, but not good enough. Do businesses really expect you to keep every receipt? I would need a bigger house! I left and bought it on Amazon. I really try to shop local but when the customer service isn't there anymore, forget it! They lost a couple of good customers today

It had been years since I have been to this store. I really enjoyed it and the people working there were fun an easy to talk to. I especially like the area that had the pets. They seemed happy and healthy. There was a couple of areas in the store that had beautiful and fun local art. Go and wander, you will enjoy yourself.

Great place, except for the smell. The plants are great. I bought a banana tree that they re-potted immediately after purchase, which was a surprise. I've purchased all of my strawberry plants there (I expand my strawberry patch every year, and the strawberries I planted 6 years ago are still thriving.) I like that they have in-house classes, and have enjoyed several, including one about the best varieties of fruit trees for our climate zone.

One of the best garden stores around. The staff is way more knowledgeable than any of the big box stores. Prices are reasonable and I love going into the back and looking at all the reptiles.

Django is the best, she’s so cute and sweet and pettable. I’d come here just to see her.

When it comes to saltwater this place is a joke they have a display tank that looks like garbage but they don't sell anything out of it actually they don't sell anything salt water because all their tanks are empty and for display purposes only. They also have several thousand dollars worth of quality live off that people would buy but they don't sell it We do not sell live rocks from our established tanks and then they give you a tank with some live rock that is for sale that is absolute garbage. Their tanks are not maintained at all their display tank looks like garbage but is the only tank that has anything living in it what's the point of even having this? I wonder if the owner knows that his money is spent on fish products that are not sold If you have a thousand pounds of live rock sell it buy more how are you making a profit it's no wonder the fish section of the store is garbage.
On top of that the guy in the back with the silly blonde hair has zero knowledge of his department and is condescending and rude and uneducated. For shame

The owners must hate owning it now, sad. The employees especially the one that ring you up are extremely rude, I mean rude. The prices now are laughable at best! I've never seen such high prices on the same junk every other pet store has. I really belive in supporting local but this place is out to rob you and with nasty service. Bye northwest seed, been a customer for 20 years but not anymore!! You should close your doors.

I always love to visit. The store is clean, the employees are friendly, and they nearly always have what I'm looking for. Great place for seeds and pet needs!

My wife and I began shopping at Northwest Seed and Pet in 2011. We really appreciate shopping at and supporting the locally owned businesses and, until recently, loved going to the Division store.

Gardening and tropical fish are two of my biggest hobbies. After recently retiring from the Air Force and moving back to Spokane, I decided to set up a tank. I visited the store multiple times working with two professionals in the fish department, a gentleman with dyed hair and a lady named K. Hopkins. Both were knowledgeable, helpful, and customer service oriented.

After three weeks, the water was good, and I decided to add fish. I was a bit out of practice setting up a community tank, so I worked closely with K. Hopkins on the species and quantity of fish.

During our discussion, an older gentleman (Mike) employee continuously interrupted our conversation. Although it was frequent and distracting, my wife and I were understanding and assumed he was a new employee. K. Hopkins even apologized for the interruptions, stating they were short staffed that day.

The day after we added the fish, we noticed two fish from the same purchasing tank did not appear healthy. The third day, I discovered Ich on just those two fish. We bought 10 from three tanks.

On the fourth day, I returned to the store eager to talk with either of the two employees I had worked with in the past and hopefully help point out a potential problem for the store as well. Unfortunately, neither one was around, only Mike.

I was the only one in the area, and Mike nonverbally acknowledged me but appeared too busy to ask if I needed assistance. After several minutes of looking at fish without him asking if I needed help, I finally went to the counter. Mike was focused on a piece of paper on the desk. I assumed he was busy, so I waited patiently. After an uncomfortable amount of time, I finally asked for assistance. He acted like I was an inconvenience and asked what I needed. I mentioned my concern about Ich, hoping this would spark a calm and respectful conversation. Calm it was, respectful he was not. He quickly walked to the treatment products to show me. When I tried to explain my concerns about the potential of one of the stores tanks having Ich, he rapidly cut me off, explaining that Ich happens from stress, which I agree. Other factors such as inconsistent water temperature and chemistry can also be causes, and it is highly contagious.

One of my purposes in making the visit was to hopefully prevent other customers from purchasing fish that may have Ich. Mike was very dismissive and rude and did not even allow me to get to that point. Once he confirmed to me how bad his customer service skills were, I asked his name.

I expected to purchase the treatment and was not looking for a handout from the store unless the two infected fish did indeed die within the 10-day guarantee window. Mike’s rude and dismissive attitude sparked me to ask if they would honor anything. He quickly replied negatively and told me that was part of having a fish tank. At this point, feeling disrespected and not at all valued as a customer, I mentioned that this is not the best way to keep customers. He rudely replied that he had been working there for 10 years and he does fine, he abruptly turned around and walked away. Conversation over. I guess he, nor the store needs me as a customer, noted.

After this second experience, first, directly with Mike, I will never shop there again. I will discourage friends, family, and neighbors from shopping there as well.

This is not about the potential loss of a couple of $12 fish or $10 on Ich treatment, it is about Mike’s poor customer service and that the store allows employees to treat customers like that.

Except for the $100ish on tank set up, all my purchases at the store have been on plants and gardening supplies. I hoped to use this store for fish needs moving forward. However, in the future, I will go elsewhere.

Few times in my life have I ever had this poor treatment. This is my first non-five-star review and second review ever.

I enjoy NWSP as they've been locally carrying pet supplies for over 20 years. They're usually cheaper than most other places, hospitable, & they have a quality selection at both stores.

Sprague store is the bigger store for newbs out here..

NW seed is great for a wide selection of flower and vegetable seeds. They are the best I have found in the Spokane area. They also have a great selection of fertilizers both organic and conventional. They have a lovely selection of house plants and a good selection of fruit trees and bushes. Their aquarium area is rather nice as well.

My boys love this store. Our free zoo. The people have a lot of knowledge and we always see a new animal every time we visit . Like this tortoise it was huge and my boys got to touch it.

I was waiting on the person in the back for bugs, while they were busy then they preceded to help someone else before me. Ive been waiting for 10+ minutes and even rang the bell and still havent been helped. The red haired lady was in the back. Ridiculous.
