Constraction reviews in Madison, Wisconsin

DreamMaker did a wonderful job from start to finish. Right from the start Sara listened to our ideas and helped translate them into a project. After a walkthrough Michael put together designs and measurements to make sure things would fit in the space and everything would flow properly so we could get the most use when designing. Our project manager Mack was always on top of the day to day ensuring things stayed on time and fixing any little thing that happened, often times if a contractor made a mistake he would point it out before we noticed and already had it scheduled to be corrected without delaying the rest of the remodel. The entire team made sure we were happy and communicated each step of the way to stay on budget and help realize our dream kitchen, living room, dining room and bathroom. We got an entire floor of the house beautifully done for the same cost as what other had quoted for just the kitchen. I was hesitant at first when getting quotes, the old saying “you get what you pay for” made me concerned that it would sloppy work with cheap materials, but truly it was better than I could have imagined and everything is beautiful. As a business they are transparent, fairly priced, hard working, and always attentive whenever I had questions or concerns or wanted to change something it was taken care of right away.

We cannot speak highly enough of the DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen team! This was our first big house project so we did our due diligence meeting with multiple companies, but DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen blew us out of the water with their responsiveness and enthusiasm about our bathroom project. We knew that in order to make our "galley-style" 80s bathroom the master bathroom of our dreams, we would need to move a wall and remove everything and start new. The DreamMaker team made us feel understood and supported every step of the way, from the weekly design sessions to them handling all scheduling with contractors to construction (with our work schedules in mind) and clean-up. Everyone that they work with, from the general contractor, plumber, and electrician, also were respectful and great to work with. Even though it was a big project, the timeline was very smooth and faster than we ever could have expected with a different company. We truly enjoyed every moment of our project with DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen and know that for any future projects, we will call them!

I've been thinking really hard on how to approach this review. I received bids from five different contractors on remodeling our hall bath, and DreamMaker was in the middle of the range in regards to cost. What I really liked about them was that they seemed very organized, had a showroom where I could physically see the materials, and they promised that they would be very hands-on during the entire project. So we signed with them at a $37k budget and a 4 week timeline. This is for a 7x7' bathroom, replacement of all materials and converting our tub to a shower. No moving of electrical, plumbing or walls.
The first red flag was when I received a call at work on day 3 of our project, asking if they could downsize our shower niche because the one they had was smaller than the plans. I insisted on the size agreed upon in our contract, and got some fuss because it meant they had to make a custom one. I'm sorry, but this was what was agreed to and they knew the niche was important to me.
Second mishap was after the LVP tile floors were installed, I noticed identical boards were placed directly next to each other. This looked extremely fabricated and you could tell it was obviously not real wood due to the repeated patterns. I requested them to rearrange the boards, and was told "Oh this has never happened before, but of course it looks horrible like this." Boards were re-arranged.
The biggest issue was the subcontractors installing the tile. Our shower niche had to be redone a total of three times due to insanely crooked and uneven tiling, and then the wrong color schluter border was installed, which required them to rip it all out and start over once again. I felt like none of the subcontractors paid any attention to the design plan which was carefully laid out in a binder and always left in the bathroom for consultation. The wrong color border was also installed on our vanity countertop side splash tile. To this day, after completion, there are still several uneven tiles.
The vanity countertop is full of scratches due to contractors not keeping anything over it to protect it during construction. The electrician installing the LED mirror dropped one of his tools and chipped it, which required a further epoxy repair. Electrician never mentioned the damage and I had to find it after he had left for the day (I was downstairs when I heard him drop the tool, it was that loud).
Nicks of paint had to be repaired on the custom colored vanity after project completion.
A huge issue we also had was one of our glass shower doors arrived damaged but was installed anyway. Assuming your customer won't notice a huge chunk missing out of a sheet of glass is insulting to say the least. Even worse, when the door was replaced, the contractor damaged the shower wall which required ANOTHER repair. It was also installed completely crooked. At this point we had to request this particular worker to be removed from our project completely due to the amount of careless damage they kept causing and wouldn't report.
The insulation on the plumbing underneath the bathroom, visible in our unfinished basement, fell off one day after installation and was never replaced despite being promised it would be. Now we have to hire someone else to finish it.
In the end, our four week project finally finished at a total of 10 WEEKS, almost three times the time promised. Almost all delays were due to mistakes, damage and redos. To say this entire experience was frustrating would be an understatement. Our finished bathroom is functional, yes. Just don't look too close, otherwise you will notice the various spots of missing paint, uneven vanity drawers, crooked tiles and messy grout.
I would not recommend this company. This is my personal and honest experience. I decided to finally post this when I found out last week that I am not the only one who went through this experience recently. A partial refund could have been offered at any time but never was. In the end it felt like they hired the cheapest help they could find to cut corners. -
A resident in my condo recommended DreamMaker and after I saw the work they had done for her, I hired them to remodel my bathroom and kitchen. The team was absolutely wonderful. They listened carefully to my preferences, answered my questions thoughtfully and respectfully, and responded quickly to my emails. My finished rooms are beautiful and the craftsmanship is excellent. I highly recommend DreamMaker!

The team at DreamMaker’s made the design and planning process smooth and straightforward. Every detail was explained and discussed thoroughly before we moved on. When the final schedule was set it was adhered to with very little variation.
The subcontractors were professional and the workmanship was excellent. We would not hesitate to use DreamMakers again if have a project. -
We hired DreamMaker to give our master bathroom an update — new flooring, a walk-in shower, more storage, modern hardware — while staying on a modest budget.
During planning, Michal worked with us every step of the way to make sure we remained on budget while keeping our original goals in mind. Importantly, we always felt in control of the project and were never pressured to stretch our budget or change our goals.
Once construction began, all of the contractors — from plumbing to electric, to drywall and carpentry — were professional and efficient. There were some, small, on-the-fly decisions we needed to make, and everyone (particularly, the carpenter, Lance) adjusted without problem. The team's expertise helped us make decisions confidently and with minimal disruption.
Overall, we ended up with a bathroom we love, and would recommend the team at DreamMaker to anyone looking to do something similar. -
Our experience with DreamMaker was ultimately very positive. The planning phase was really great with good organization and quick process.
The options available are excellent and I did not ever feel like I was limited with what we could do.
As with any remodeling project there were some bumps in the road but their quick resolution and extremely high quality final product is well worth any small issues. The staff are all so friendly and helpful.
We are so happy with the end result and will definitely be going back for any future remodeling projects. -
We recently used DreamMaker to remodel our 1960’s era bathroom. They were professional and friendly; truly listened to our vision and provided valuable insight. They stayed on schedule and on budget. They paid attention to details and the work was meticulous. We are extremely pleased with the end result. Thank you to Michael, Sarah, Kelly, Mack, Dustin and all the other tradesmen who worked together to make our dream bathroom a reality. 5+ stars!

We’re really happy with the outcome of our bathroom remodel with DreamMaker. Everyone from the design team to the project team was respectful, enthusiastic, and responsive. We’re glad we chose them and would work with them again!

Our master bathroom became unsafe to use. The small shower required a mat that had to be removed after each shower so it wouldn't get moldy. There was nothing safe to grab onto. Only the grandkids used the Jacuzzi bath and they are all now grown. So we used the bath to store towels and sit precariously after carefully walking out of the shower.
I knew what I wanted in concept but didn't know how to get there. Visiting stores always led to next step being "find a contractor". I found DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen online and visited. They could take my concepts from design thru to implementation. I did not need to find anyone else for this project as it included tile, plumbing, electrical, etc.
My requirements were: 1) ADA compliant; 2) a shower large enough so that a wheelchair bound person could still get a safe shower and maybe room for a caregiver to assist; 3) for the wheelchair issue I did not want a shower door; 4) to get the space for no shower door the Jacuzzi bath had to be removed; and 5) new "non-slip" tile had to be flush with the bathroom entrance to prevent stumbling.
And DreamMaker delivered on all of that and I am happy!
My only regret is not doing it sooner. For over 10 years I mumbled during every shower. I myself am not wheelchair bound but certainly like the new safety and convenience and know I am future proof as far as the bathroom goes. -
DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen created an amazing result for us. Our kitchen was outdated, dark and had a poor layout. The design team did a fabulous job of creating an efficient, accessible and beautifully, updated kitchen. We are so glad we didn't settle for minor tweaks. Rather than having to find our own workers, DreamMaker was a one-stop shop from material selection, samples, design, budgeting, scheduling and execution. The collaboration was exceptional. Their aim is to ensure that their customer is happy. They work hard to rectify any unforeseen issues. I would highly recommend them to anyone for your project needs!

We did a complete renovation of our kitchen including removing part of a wall between the kitchen and dining room and minor renovation of the dining room. We really enjoyed working with Michal and his team. They were very responsive throughout the project and very easy to work with. DreamMaker made sure that everything was done to our expectations, on time and within our budget. We LOVE our new kitchen and are so pleased with how everything turned out. We receive a lot of compliments on our kitchen and would work with DreamMaker again on future remodeling work.

Like many homeowners who have had prior stressful and/or disappointing remodeling experiences we went into our bathrooms remodeling (3 at once!) project with significant trepidation. But I’m delighted to say our worries were unfounded while working with DreamMakers. The whole process was so organized and seamless and well supported. There was an established timeline for the progression of the project and they held to it. All of the tradespeople were careful with our home and considerate of our living space. Special shout out to Lauren for her guidance and enthusiasm during the design phase. And also to Mack, our project supervisor who was on site almost daily and continually asked if we had any questions or concerns. Any small changes or concerns were addressed immediately. Our bathrooms look amazing; we’re so pleased with the outcome. They are not inexpensive but truly a great value for your investment. Now we’re just catching our breath before we ask them to help us start on our kitchen!

We spent months looking at different options for remodeling our kitchen and we are so glad we found DreamMaker. They walked us through every step of the process and gave immediate answers to all of our questions. They had a schedule for every item and we could follow the progress on a website dedicated to our project. They included photo's of the progress and notes on where they were in the process. The final product was beyond our expectations and we can't wait to hire them to do our bathroom. I've included before and after pictures. As you can see it's no comparison to what we had before. I can't recommend DreamMaker enough.

Our recent kitchen remodel with DreamMaker, was an easy and exceptional experience. From the initial consultation to the final touches, the team demonstrated professionalism, expertise, and a keen eye for detail.
Our outdated kitchen presented several challenges, particularly in terms of limited counter space and an inefficient layout. DreamMaker provided an insightful design that helped us maximize usable space and vastly improved the overall functionality and flow. Resulting in a kitchen that is both beautiful and incredibly practical.
The project was on schedule to be completed within the agreed-upon timeline, when i decided mid project to get our windows in the kitchen done as well. DreamMaker accommodated this with no problem, even though im sure putting things on pause for a month waiting on the windows created issues for them.
The crew was courteous, respectful, and maintained a clean work environment throughout the process. They were responsive and addressed any concerns promptly, making the entire experience remarkably easy.
We would highly recommendand DreamMaker for any of your remodeling needs. They transformed the space into exactly what we imagined and delivered a kitchen that will be enjoyed for many years to come. -
We had a positive experience working with DreamMaker for our kitchen remodel. Michal and Lauren made the planning and choosing process seamless and stress-free. It was important to me to keep some of the original cherry wood in our kitchen. They worked with me to choose new cabinets, quartz countertops, and tile that would look good next to the original cherry wood.
Mack was wonderful to work with throughout the construction. He communicated with me in a timely manner, and addressed my questions and concerns. I appreciate how the entire team at DreamMaker made sure we were satisfied at every step, and took care of problems when they came up. Now we have a beautiful, updated kitchen, that meets our needs! -
A lot of cheap Christmas lights right now most are 75 percent off!!!

Andrew Nguyen in the kitchen design department was phenomenal. Not only was he extremely helpful, but he maintained a very polite and respectful demeanor throughout my planning with him. I will definitely request his services for any further improvement projects in my kitchen or bathrooms.

I wanted to install Stanley garage door opener in my garage. I called HD to do the installation. Unlike others they didnt wasted my time and did the job almost without delay. If you are looking for good services, I will recommend Home Depot.

DO NOT BUY FROM HERE IF YOU ARE NEEDING IT DELIVERED OR INSTALLED.
Bought a new construction home. I talked to Home Depot 5 weeks before closing on the home for blinds. They gave me a great estimate at no more than $1100 dollars. Go in the following week to place the order ends up being over $1500, given no reason, even with estimate in hand. Need the blinds in so I say screw it and agree to the price, set up delivery of blinds 7 days before closing, installation will happen on day of closing. I call 3 days in advance of when I am supposed to receive them, find out blinds are back ordered (No call to tell me this), get them 4 days after closing. Found them in the middle of the yard scattered. (up on a hill maybe blew from the wind). You cant schedule installation until 48 hours after you receive them. Its now been 9 days since my closing and we have been living in a fish bowl with every ones lights shinning into the new home. We were the first home in the neighborhood that has been closed, construction is still being completed on 8 other homes around us. So get to have people stare into the house that are looking for Pay for someone to do it who handles you as a person not just as a number. -
Me and my fiance got to Home Depot at 8am today (when they open which is also stated on their website) and upon walking in a older lady asked did we need any help and we said yes that we were here to rent a trunk we had previously booked online and all she responds with is we aren’t open till the lights come on. So we say well we booked a truck online to pick up at 8am and it’s 8am now?
She then just walks away without saying another word. Well, we will start walking over to the truck rental and she walks back past us glaring at us and doesn’t say one word. Like I’m sorry, are we inconveniencing you by being here when your store opens simply because you’re saying it’s not open because the lights aren’t all on? That’s just wild to me. If you open at 8AM, be prepared to open at the time you have stated on your website and maybe be polite to customers, instead of just glaring at them and demanding what they want. The ONLY saving grace was the incredibly sweet man Who helped us with the actual trial process and was nice enough to walk us through everything and didn’t rush us.
