Constraction reviews in Madison, Wisconsin

Carlos and his team were excellent. They were professional and completed everything perfectly and in a timely manner. Carlos is also patient as I probably asked him a hundred questions. Very helpful. I'll definitely call him again.

Capital Custom Contractors did an excellent job for me recently on an home improvement project to the front of my home. Carlos and his team disassembled a wood deck structure, removed concrete, hauled away old material, constructed a new smaller front stoop with weather friendly materials, constructed a portico for over my front entrance, hung a new outdoor light fixture, replaced rotting wood - the whole nine. Carlos and his team were friendly, on time, professional and on time. I would highly recommend his work.

Our shed floor failed after 15-years. The shed itself was solid and we wanted to keep it, so we hired Capital Custom Contractors to manually lift the shed (we couldn’t have heavy equipment in our backyard due to a brick wall), poured a cement slab & lifted back the shed in place. Incredible!!! Now all we have to do is paint it. Carlos and his crew, Rego & Daniel were kind, hard working and professional. We highly recommend them.

Really incredible experience! We basically gutted two entire floors of our condo with Capital Custom Contractors. They are easy to work with, consultative and helpful the whole way through the process. They’re also friendly, on time and communicative. We’re definitely using them to do our basement, next!

Very responsive (which is so rare), very kind and great quality work! I had a double brick/stone fireplace to mount a TV on. They were able to mount + cut through to create a cord hider without disrupting the integrity of the stone. It's only been a day but I've already heard several comments about how professional it looks, and I agree! I will be working with them again in the future.

I had Capital Customs come out and install a new electrical panel for me. They did a fantastic job and were always super easy to get ahold of. I will definitely be using them for all of my electrical needs in the future, and highly recommend them!

Carlos and his crew did an amazing job on our bathroom remodel. We had a small, awkward space to work with, and they turned it into a whole room. Nice tile and finishing, love everything about it.

I started a conversation about a new construction job with Capitol Custom in October 2024. After emailing back and forth multiple times with the office manager/project manager regarding the project, materials, and quote (that I never received), the company suddenly stopped responding in early December 2024. I reached out again in early January 2025 to find out if there were any updates but never received a response. Given the lack of communication, I wouldn’t recommend this company.

BEWARE! We have had a horrendous experience with Carlos and Nikki. The project is now a full 3 months past the agreed upon completion date and there has been nothing standing in the way of them completing the job for months. Communication has been combative and deceptive. They have refused to provide justification for inflated charges and have added inflated change order prices after being asked repeatedly, and in writing, that the cost of all change orders be confirmed in advance. I am posting this review in a desperate attempt to get them to finish the job and let my family get on with our lives.

Carlos and his team have been so professional and easy to work with on our basement project! They were willing to alter their timelines to fit into our plumbing and electric schedules. Building out two rooms in a little over a month is stellar speed in our book. We’ve already referred them to several friends :)

With the new year approaching you may have some projects on your list.
If you need some help, I would highly recommend Carlos and his crew at
Capital Custom Contractors.

I wanted to renovate a room off of my living room from a bedroom to a
more livable space. I couldn't be happier. Carlos replaced all seven
windows and added barnwood to the walls. He was great at recommending
options, patient and very responsible during this time of Covid-19.

The workmanship was great, the pricing reasonable and he was very conscientious about not wasting any materials.

I absolutely love my new space -- I gained so much light and an amazing open feeling to my home.

Capital Custom Contractors did a fantastic job replacing the drop ceiling and lighting in our basement with drywall. They always showed up on time, did quality work, and thoroughly cleaned up construction waste, all for a fair price. Highly recommended!!

I recently worked with Carlos and Capital Custom Contractors and it was an excellent handy person experience! I had a time crunch and he managed to fit me in his busy schedule (they are in demand!) and accomplish many things in short period in a skillful and creative way! I highly recommend Carlos' business as he is very talented and personable and fast!

Carlos & his crew came out to replace our deck & bring it up to code. Replaced the old boards with composite materials. I disliked our deck a lot when we bought the house but now I'm so in love with it and want to be out there all the time. His crew was great to work with from start to finish. Highly recommend them & will be calling them for future home projects.

Carlos and his brother installed LVP flooring and a new vanity in our bathroom. It was a smaller project but they were fast, efficient and our bathroom looks great. We have already recommended Carlos to a few of our friends and will be reaching out to him if we have more projects in the future.

Carlos was amazing - quick, solid work and fair pricing. Really nice guy with high standards for his work. He was able to come out and complete our project within a week and I felt very safe with him in my home during COVID. He wore a mask and observed social distancing. We will definitely use him again in the future.

Carlos and his team at Capital Custom Contractors recently installed a dog door into an exterior wall at my home and I would highly recommend this company! Carlos was able to complete the project professionally and quickly without any issues. Capital Custom Contractors was by far the most affordable and flexible option that we found. Carlos also offered valuable insight and recommendations into other projects that we are working on completing around the house. I would highly recommend Capital Custom Contractors to anyone looking for assistance with home improvement projects!

Replaced our bathroom vent in very timely manner and very professional. Would definitely work with them in future and recommend

Edit to say, the project ended up being not completely finished, would love to hear back from the contractor especially since I believe we paid for it to have the wall actually finished. Partly my fault for not responding to another project idea but overall hard to get in touch either way about finishing it. Again, I'll edit this if he gets back to me.

We hired Capital Custom Contractors to do a few small kitchen projects including installing a backsplash, fixing where our countertop was pulling away from the wall and upgrading our electrical outlets. Carlos was able to quickly fit our project into his schedule, provided a clear and reasonable estimate for the job, and finished the project on schedule. As a project manager I fully appreciate that result was high quality and finished on time and on budget. Carlos provided great customer service, answering questions quickly. We would definitely hire Carlos again!

Carlos was great to work with on my basement bath install project. His work is great quality and he worked with me to stay within budget as much as we could. He communicated the different project stages, discussed any needed changes & options very well. He always showed me the work done each day, asked questions, listened and followed up with any issues that came up. I appreciate the hard work from Carlos and his crew. Lastly, with the COVID challenges, they were so cooperative asking about wearing masks and following through with masking, distancing until we all could be vaccinated. As a person who is higher risk, I very much appreciated the consideration they showed while in my home. I highly recommend Capital Custom Contractors & they will be the first I call if I have another big project.

Carlos and his team were very professional and exceeded our expectations for finishing our basement. They listened to what we wanted and were respectful of our budget. The project progressed quickly once it got underway and without cutting corners. His insight and eye were very appreciated. We felt totally comfortable having his team in and out of our house at any given time throughout the work week. All of the specialists, whether it were carpet, painters, etc were all very professional. We would totally recommend working with him again.
