We hired King Maple Landscaping to install a patio, retaining wall, and rain garden. David and his crew were amazing to work with. After seeing excellent reviews online, we reached out to David and he met with us for a consultation that same day. We had met with two other companies prior to this and neither were able to compare. David listened to our concerns, took notes on what we were looking to do, and offered suggestions. He created a digital rendering that far exceeded our expectations. The best part is, our final project looks exactly as we were promised. Throughout the entire process David was easy to communicate with and reliable. Everyone from King Maple was professional and this definitely made an impression on all of our neighbors. We would recommend King Maple to anyone (and we have been doing just that!)

King Maple did an amazing job with my new retaining wall. It looks so much better than it was. They created proper water run off areas and I'm just so pleased with the way it turned out. Plus, it started with a site visit and two weeks later the job was done. So quick! They cleaned up the next day and literally laid down new grass.

We had King Maple help us with what I would consider a large residential projects. We had purchased the house a few years ago and had not had a chance to really dig into / keep up with the landscaping while we focused on other improvements. Our 5 star rating is based on a couple things: Great communication throughout including automated appt reminders. A timely and detailed quote. David provided enough detail on the quote that it was clear to us he fully understood what we wanted done which left us confident there would be no surprises later. They have a large team and were able to complete the project within a few weeks of the quote. The large King Maple crew came and worked their tales off, including through a couple very hot days. The end result was a complete transformation of our landscaping that has left us very satisfied.

A.L. Ltd Landscaping blocked the whole road when doing their work. They wouldn't mind vevtheir vehicle to let me through. Their employee was very rude.

Cut our sump pump hoses, patched them together and finished the wall. First freeze, one hose disconnected and flooded our front yard. Called twice, no response!

Chuck is wonderful to work with. He is prompt and has good ideas and insight. The crew is polite and work hard. We have been using A.L for 10 or 11 years.

We really are pleased with the project. The layout of everything was exactly as we requested and the plants are all doing well. We will definitely use A.L. Landscaping when we do our next project. Very reasonable.

I have not used this landscaping service and I would never do so and I advise others to read why. They have a person by the name of William Murry that claims and list them as his employer on Facebook to be their foreman and yet this individual goes on Facebook insulting people sending racist slurs and insulting people. If this is in fact their foreman and they would accept this behavior in their company and as a team member it doesn't say much integrity for the company.

Dave Polich, and crew did an outstanding job at our property. We needed swails installed on our property after receiving a 15 inches of rain last Aug. The work was completed well and left our property clean and neat condition. I highly recommend there services and expertise.

I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. I hired AL to replace a brick retaining wall between my (elevated) property and my neighbor's yard. It was collapsing. When I hired them, I was told that it was a two week job and that they would replace the fence mounted on top of the wall. (it was finally finished this week, week 6). We agreed on a week they would start and by Wednesday of that week, no call, no work. In any business communication is key. Communication was not happening here. I was left hanging many times, not knowing what was happening. I'm willing to deal with delays (weather, sick worker, other projects, etc). All it takes is a bit of communication so I know what is happening. I lost my patience. So I called and got the estimator, Dave, we worked with and he was rude, raised his voice and finally sent some guys over. They started in and slowly progressed. All the information I got was from the workers, who were decent fellows. They didn't know the plan. Communication again. They'd criticize Dave, the other workers, and give me excuse after excuse for why it was taking so long. They'd disappear for several days. Wall partially done. I had no communication from the estimator/project manager Dave. I had to call, repeatedly, l through this entire project to see it to its conclusion. I repeatedly had Dave yelling at me, in person and on the phone. They replaced the wall, which suddenly had a "step" in it. That is, it was 36' long had been smooth and level across the topl. Now a step. It still bulged out into the neighbors yard in places, and was finely straight and even in others. Then the guys disappeared. Again no communication from Dave. I had to call him again. He said the wall was complete. it was not. He yelled some more, but came over and I showed him the missing capstones, (he tried to say they weren't there in the first place, but I had a photo). The last section of fence was just lying there. So he promised to put them on, told me he had to use extra bricks and should charge me more, and yelled. He argued about putting in the fence, saying he couldn't, they weren't a fence company. I showed him a way and he yelled some more but agreed to get someone over here. I didn't hear for a bit, this is week 5 on the project. So I called and got this guy named Chuck. He said he'd come over and take a look. He did. He said he could take care of the capstones and get the fence back in. He didn't yell. He explained everything and apologized for all the yelling and the delays. Yesterday, he came over and finished the wall, remounted the fence. Took him 1.5 hours. This was week 6. Plus, I got an invoice at about week two, which I didn't like much. I would give them the lowest level of any contractor I have ever worked with. Do not use them. The only thing that saved the day in the end was Chuck coming over and finishing things. But I now have a crappy looking wall, not what I expected for the money I paid.

If I could give a negative number I would. We converted to rock in our beds. Originally rock was put in areas that were not to be touched and we lost a beautiful Asian maple as a result. Also used fabric that a few years later has disintegrated and allowed a complete weed takeover. Meanwhile our old home from many, many years ago using another contractor still looks great! We have asked a couple companies about it and were told it needs to be redone after only a few years. Stay away from this contractor!!!

We have used A.L. Landscaping for many years on hardscaping/landscaping projects but not for drainage. In 2018 we used A.L. for a drainage project that ran into late fall 2018 weather issues. Although the drainage worked very well, there was no integration with my landscape and I was told "you asked for drainage, not landscaping." HOWEVER...A.L. sent in Casey in spring 2019 who fixed all of the drainage landscape issues. Our landscape now looks like it was before the drainage project. I would have liked much better communication regarding our drainage needs in relation to our mature landscape; however, A.L. fixed the things that ran under our communication radar.

I had my slope regraded to improve the drainage & keep water from entering the basement. The project did the trick. My area of Madison received 3" of rain in a 24 hr. period last week. My sump pump was completely dry during & after the storms.

The river stones & pavers turned out very nice. It's a very clean look & easy to maintain.

What I was not happy with was that several days transpired from when they pulled out my six tree peonies bushes & replanted them. In fairness, they did have to work around some weather, but there were several dry days that there was the opportunity to replant. I think they went into shock & have not come back. Everything else they dug up & relocated look healthy.

I have had to reseed several areas of grass that they reseeded. I followed the instructions for keeping the seed moist. I also felt that for a newly planted area, the amount of weeds in the reseeded area has been heavy. There were also a lot of rocks in the soil that I had to remove. I can understand a few rocks, but there were a lot I had to remove from the dirt they brought in.

The cleanup on the project took a week. One person responsible just left equipment & I had to follow up.

5 stars for the actual slope regrading.
    3 stars for the plant/bush removal & re-planting.
2 stars for the grass reseeding (bare spots & rocky soil).
    2 stars for the cleanup.

I would love to provide feedback on how my landscaping work was done. However, they have not contacted me to schedule the work. I have not heard from them for weeks. They have my $900 deposit, and (I'm guessing) more lucrative contracts that get their attention. It has been a challenging summer for landscapers, I admit. But not THAT challenging. The summer is disappearing quickly. Disappointing.

I can only echo the comments from many of the other one star reviews here. Communication is terrible/nonexistent, they are happy to take the big deposit and not return phone calls for a very long time. The communication between the general manager and the workers is terrible and very frequently I had to redirect the workers to the project I was expecting not the project related to them by Dave. I’ve also been surprised with big equipment showing up to do massive jobs with no Advance notice. This would have completely destroyed many items in my house if I hadn’t been home that day. They do not guarantee their workmanship at all.
You may be excited to use the credit they offer in the coupon flyers, but it is not worth it.

Hmmm...I see the one review was from someone that didn't even use them....
Anyway, I have used this landscaping business several times to redo landscaping and move in bigger trees. I found them originally through a flier for trees and was pleasantly surprised by the quality I got from them. Each time I have used them, Ihave had a very positive outcome with beautiful additions to our yard. The landscaper has been fantastic to work with and I cannot say enough about the guys that come out to do the landscaping work itself. They are hardworking, respectful, and clean up anything left over. We plan to rebuild at some point and I'd be hard pressed to get anyone else to do my next lawn and landscaping. Furthermore, I check prices for just about anything and this company is well within a range that is affordable and, in a few cases, almost half of what other well known names are charging.

I hired AL Landscaping to do a small job for us that was supposed to be done summer 2019. They waited until Fall 2019 at which point it was a bad time for grass to grow. They placed seed rather than sod. Our contract said sod would be planted based on the location. They agreed to come back and make sure the grass would grow Spring 2020. They did come back but again planted seed which did not take because it’s on a hill and when it rains everything washes away. They came again to plant seed and I watered twice daily for 10-30 minutes each time and am left with giant weeds but no grass. I feel like weeds were purposely planted and not grass. I have tried reaching them many times to make this right with sod and no one will call me back. I am very upset that now we will have to plant sod ourselves after paying a lot for a project that wasn’t completed. If they would be willing. I would still give them the opportunity to plant sod and make this right, at which time I will be happy to change my review.

Update: They fixed everything and I am much happier now. Thank you.

I have used AL Landscaping for years because they are simply the BEST! Chuck is great to work with! He explains everything and has great ideas for what will work in my yard . Their brick work is beautiful! I had a patio and walk done years ago and it still looks great! Other members of the AL team are respectful and hard working. From my experience you can't get any better than AL Landscaping!
