VERY satisfied on all accounts!

Spring of last year my wife smelled smoke in our living room after a rain, and we called Terri (owner? of Mad Hatter) to inspect our well-used wood-burning fireplace insert. Terri told us how to get insurance to cover repair costs for our cracked chimney liner, which he determined had come from a chimney fire. He repaired the chimney and his fix has stood the test of time as we used the fireplace all last winter.

I was impressed to see him go the extra mile to have a custom metal boot made to fit my chimney with precision, to beat the estimate he gave me by re-evaluating his solution half-way through the repair, and, in the process of installing a chimney cap, to inspect and re-seal other (unrelated) pipes coming out of my roof. It is rare to find someone who truly cares about their work and their clients, and working with Mad Hatter was a breath of fresh air (no pun intended).

I cannot say enough good things about Terry and his team who came out to clean my dryer vent duct. They were so very professional, wiped their feet on their rags each time they entered the house. They cleaned up behind themselves for things I am not sure I would have after myself. They use a method to clean which involves an air compressor and blows out the line completely. He also told me that other companies that may just use a brush often have more problems shortly after because it balls up the lint in the line and they (Mad hatter)are called out to fix this problem. I highly recommend Mad Hatter on the front end and I will definitely use them again!

Worst customer service ever!!! I’ve had them scheduled for over a month to come today between 12 and 12:30. I called at 1 when no one had shown up or called and let the receptionist know that I needed to pick up my daughter and would be back in 10 mins. We have an outdoor fireplace and I suggested they could start there. I returned within the 10 mins, and still no one. I called back at 3:20. The receptionist said “due to the rain, they weren’t cleaning today.” It has been raining heavily all day and she’s just now telling me this AFTER I called her!!! I suggested this would have been helpful earlier when I called or even to let me know before then. Funny how earlier they were out on jobs. They’ve done good work for us in the past, but sadly, we’re moving on. Our time is more valuable!

Unbelievable. The owner told me how to DIY rather than trying to charge us for a new dryer vent booster fan (like another service in town tried). Instead, I chose to have them come out. They not only fixed the booster motor, but they came back the next day and cleaned the dryer duct, motor, and second leg of the duct run... and all for the regular, reasonable cost of dryer vent cleaning. I’ll be calling them again when it’s time for HVAC duct cleaning and chimney cleaning!

Love them did a great job with helping me and my husband find the best option on replacing our Heating and Air system. Very respectful and knowledgeable about the unit we got from them. Would recommend to anyone needing a new ac system.

Love this company. Technician came out and gave me an honest and fair estimate for a new gas furnace. Installed the new furnace with no problems. Great customer service. Will definitely call them in the future.

Last year we paid for Mad Hatter to install new metal flashing on our chimney (none was present when we purchased the house, just roofing cement) and install a new cap due to water coming in through the chimney. Recently had roofing work done by another company and roofers told us we in fact do not have any flashing on the chimney, just tar which is not what we were told was being done and not what we paid for. Contacted company about this and never got a call/email back. If we misunderstood what job was done we would at least appreciate a new inspection to clarify as it seems we did not get a service we paid quite a bit of money for.

The first thing that made me choose the Mad Hatter was the price they quoted me for my dryer vent cleaning. When they came to my house they made sure there shoes were clean (it rained all day), when they were not clean enough he took his shoes off at the door. They fixed my dryer without any delay. When I asked them to evaluate my fireplace they showed me how to prevent heat or cold drafts from coming in. Very happy with the service and will use them in the future.

I had what I would call a serious event take place. It placed my wife in a horrible situation at our home when 2 technicians were there. And she was alone.

After this ‘event’ (and I was out of town for work that day), I called and spoke to an owner. She said she would be calling me back after she spoke to all parties involved.

I never received a phone call. But 5 days later I did receive a credit card transaction, that paid them in full.

This tells me that they deem the behavior, demonstrated by a technician, acceptable.

I’m giving them until the end of the week to resolve it. Or at least communicate their position.

Do NOT use this company.

Edit: I spoke to the owner. Long story short, she said that they are standing by the "service" that was performed. When I asked her to clarify what "Service" meant, she only spoke of the act of cleaning the air ducts. The other "theatrics" & behaviors by their employee/technician, that my wife had to deal with, apparently aren't included in their definition of 'service'. The technician behavior (when not cleaning) is acceptable to them and warrant full asking price. So if you are ok with them cleaning your air-ducts; attempting to steal your tool(s); having to call them out on it; only to be treated as though nothing happened...this company is for you. All others....stay away. Including those who use Freedom Heating and Cooling (as of 7/14/20 this company is who Freedom currently contracts air-duct cleaning to; so make sure you request a different provider).

First, a compliment: The gentlemen who came out were both extremely kind! Pleasant and easy to work with. What disappointed me: A. They were about 40 minutes late, B. They spent ten minutes (or less) actually cleaning the chimney (with a vacuum), and yet C. The cost for the service was $189. The price seemed a little steep, so after they left, I did some research, and the price they charged should have warranted something like a "30-45 minute deep clean." And if a deep-clean wasn't needed, the price should have been closer to $125-130.

The guys were excellent!! On time. Very professional and polite. Would recommend 150%

Had an excellent experience with the techs that came out. Profesional, clean and quick! They made everything about my fireplace and chimney in our new house so much nicer and safer. Very please with the service and would definitely recommend them.

The team arrived on time and introduced themselves, verified what I wanted serviced and got to work.
They spread out a drop cloth and assured me my carpet would be fine.
Thirty minutes later, they were done.

Mad Hatter did a great job for us. I called one day and they came out the next day. The tech communicated with me the morning of the appointment and he was friendly and on time. He did a great job of cleaning out the chimney and explaining how to prevent problems from happening in the future. We will definitely use their services again and highly recommend them!!

HIGHLY recommend! After researching multiple companies, they had the best price for air duct cleaning by far. The technicians were early, kind and very informative. They did a thorough job cleaning to the point where we could even tell a difference the following day. We also had some troublesome issues with our fireplace and furnace which they went ABOVE and BEYOND helping our family fix and gave us in depth information about how to proceed which could have very well saved our lives. I am so thankful for this small investment in the health and safety of our families lives! Will be using them in the future for any and all of their services as well as recommending them to anyone that needs air duct cleaning or fireplace cleaning, etc! Very honest, kind people.. I wish we saw more companies like theirs these days.

The gentleman that worked on my fireplace was timely and professional. He took extra care to ensure there was no mess on my cream colored rug. I know feel like my fireplace is save to use. I would highly recommend Mad Hatter for fireplace repairs, cleaning and safety checks.

Mad Hatter serviced my chimney last year and I called them back for another visit as I had smoke bellow into the room. They explained the cause of the smoke entering the room but since our home was constructed in 1930, we are limited as to what can be done. They were very honest and told me the chimney itself is in good shape and doesn't need a sweeping this year. I respect their honesty and the fact they did not try to "bait n switch" to get me to pay more. I highly recommend them for any of your chimney needs and HVAC duct work! They are one of the "good guys"!.

We had them come out twice. Once to place a dryer vent under our crawl space, and a second time to clean the vent. It was pretty pricey! I don’t mind paying a high price for high quality but that was not the case. Our dryer did not work properly for 3 years because of the poor venting. I had the dryer maintenanced twice and the dryer without the vent worked properly. We asked them to come back out to find another way to fix the problem but they refused and continued to blame it on the dryer. After hiring another company for a fraction of the price, our dryer now works perfectly. The new company completely redid the venting with correct up to code materials. I try to be loyal to people, give them the benefit of doubt, and multiple chances, but I regret waiting so many years trying to figure out the problem when Mad Hatter set us up for failure from the beginning. I wanted to support a family ran business, and i’m super disappointed that it didn’t work out and we feel taken advantage of. They also gave us bad advice that could have started a fire in our home. Never again.

Highly recommend this lovely company! The chimney check crew were so helpful and great about explaining the issues. I knew there were issues and needed a plan. At the next visit, (step one), the owner was the one to come and said the wood stove insert I planned would save me the first step. No charge, just a revised estimate that really helped! Family owned and such a pleasure to work with. Excellent services and fair prices.

We have a stove fireplace and have never used it and they not only cleaned it but took the time to walk us through how to properly operate it and maintain it. Will use again!
