Harold installed our unit 5 years ago, and was the most price effective then at installation, and now for maintenance. We’ve had no issues with our unit, but when it finally needs replacing, he will be who we call. Honest, professional, and reasonable... highly recommend!!

There’s not enough words to describe how great Harold Payne was to us! Of course our AC unit went out the first week of hot weather in AL. He came out on a short notice, looked over things for us, and had to break the bad news that our unit needed to be completely replaced (it literally exploded!!). He was able to work with us on our insurance claim and he even installed the new unit while we were gone on vacation. I would recommend this business to anyone and everyone and he will be my go to for all AC needs. He has great customer service and made such a stressful situation 1000000% better.

We found out the A/C unit at my house was totally dead and I called on a Friday morning. They were out there by the afternoon and by the end of Tuesday, we had a new unit installed. Holiday weekend too. Thank you! Would recommend to anyone, these guys are the best

Last Friday night my AC froze up and stopped cooling. I called Payne’s Saturday morning and he was able to come to the house before noon. He was polite, informative and he definitely knew how to determine the issue. He provided several options for repair and told me what the cost of each would be upfront. He provided his recommendation, which I agreed with, and then repaired the unit with no hidden costs or unexpected issues. The AC has been working great and I cannot provide a higher recommendation! I will definitely call on him again when needed and I recommend him to anyone needing service/repairs!

Our old unit was hit by lightening. Harold and his guys had us up and running with a new unit in no time. They were fast, reliable and very professional. Always kept me up to date and even worked with me on the payment. I would recommend them to anyone for HVAC maintenance or issues.

I am an elderly widow who called Payne's on Saturday, Feb 4th at 4:30pm when I realized my gas/electric unit had died. Harold, the owner, said he would be able to come check it out, but he might be an hour or more. I was just thrilled someone was actually going to come out on a Saturday afternoon. As promised, around 5:30 pm, there he was in my driveway ready to help.
My unit was at least 25 years old and the motor to the draft assembly was locked up. Harold spent a good amount of time answering all my questions and giving me his honest opinion, which I greatly appreciated, as to what my options were. Given the age of my unit and the cost of the replacement parts, I decided to buy a new unit with York's terrific 10-year parts and labor warranty. For 10 years, I pay NOTHING except the service call fee (currently $95) - that peace of mind is priceless.
My old unit died on Saturday afternoon - on Tuesday, Harold and his crew arrived with my brand-new unit. What great service!
They arrived (on time) at 8:30am and at 1:30 pm they were completely done - including getting a master gas fitter here and then inspected by the gas company and then the required city inspection completed too! All passed with flying colors.
The quality of their work is outstanding- even for things you do not think about - like the attention to detail on customizing my new flashing was superior and everything was left neat and clean. Harold really does care about doing it right and his quality shows. His honesty is sincere and genuine.

I called Payne's out of desperation on Christmas eve 2022. Our heat pump system was absolutely not keeping up with the freezing temperatures. I felt confident I had identified the issue, but had no access to get the part. My wife and 2 small kids were struggling with how cold it was in the house (as low as 49F). I called hoping someone had the part on a truck and was prepared to pay a holiday rate for this repair. Harold was (I think) supposed to be closed that day and had just pulled in his driveway preparing to go in and enjoy the holiday with his family. However, he took the time to ensure that I was correct in my diagnosis of our problem. Ultimately, he supported me getting to a solution that had us back in the 60's inside within the next couple of hours. Our pipes were also frozen and I was really needing to catch a break. God delivered that break through Harold's commitment to his customers and pride in his work. He took time he didn't have to help me out and went out of his way to help us out. My kids slept comfortably for the first night in almost a week and we owe that to how Payne's does business. It's a fading way of providing for customers that I knew and miss a lot of times. Got a glimpse of it again through this experience though. Thanks to Harold and Payne's for going out of the way to provide excellent service, even when it could be perceived as inconvenient. Can't go wrong supporting folks like this.

I wish I could give a rating higher than 5 stars! We've used them twice now. Once for a quote and maintenance on our two A/C units and a second time for a leak. Both times they were extremely responsive to our calls, answering in the evening and getting out to our house as early as the next day. We were given our options and pricing up front, and even financing options. The gentlemen who arrived were punctual, professional and extremely knowledgeable and polite. They had the work completed in the time frame given with no mess left behind! When they came for the leak, they were quickly able to find the problem and fix it, even the portion of the job that was outside their scope of work. I'd recommend them to everyone and will use them again for any A/C or heating issues in the future.

My experience: My unit went out on a Friday night, I called Mr. Payne first thing Saturday morning and he was there in an hour. Identified issue, explained it and made temporary repair to get AC until I could make decision on purchase plan. Unit was replaced within 3 business days.

I messaged Harold Payne on a Sunday afternoon. He called me in about 10 minutes and showed up at our house about 30 minutes later. Super nice, thorough and discussed a couple of issues he discovered that he will be back in a couple of weeks to take care of. Very reasonable rates. Highly recommend him to any and everyone!

I have been using Payne heating and air off and on for about 4.5 years after a neighbor recommended him to me. My units have needed some form of repair many times over the years, and Mr. Payne was always quick to respond and help when any of my issues occurred. I eventually ended up having to have a unit replaced, and he was able to get me in quickly and got the job done so we weren’t miserable in the heat with no air! He has always done a great job for me, and is very nice and professional to work with!! Would highly recommend for any of your HVAC needs!

I started having problems with my AC unit Friday June 14,2024 we waited until Monday morning June 17,2024 to call someone due to fathers day weekend. Payne's Heating and Air without hesitation said they could get to us no matter what Monday even if it was later. well they made it about 2ish and told me nothing but the truth gave me all my options and the time to talk with my husband who was busy at work to make a final decision. They were even willing to speak with my father in law who lives out of state to insure my peace of mind. Today is Tuesday June 18,2024 and my new unit was delivered and installed. I highly recommend these guys if you are looking for reliable honest people who will do their best to make sure your needs are met.

Excellent & timely service! Had Payne's come out after the Jan 2024 Ice storm to service a Trane heat pump in our out building that the condenser wouldn't run. Harold and crew quickly diagnosed the problem and made the necessary repair at a reasonable price. Being that the unit was so old (as well as the unit on the house) Harold gave me options to consider when it comes time to replace them. Excellent suggestions, what to expect, no high pressure. Will definitely call Payne's again when I need service!

I'm new to the area and called Payne's Heating & Air to service my central unit to prepare for the spring/summer months. They were prompt and courteous.
