Plumbing reviews in Anchorage, Alaska

When my heat went out, Mountain Mechanical repaired my furnace when others couldn't. They were quick, easy to talk to, and offered competitive rates.

Was told by receptionist upon calling to see about getting someone to come have a look at a leak that they "very busy schedule" and they may be able to come out within the next day or so but "couldn't make any promises" And while I appreciate your honesty regarding your carelessness for potential business, I thought it to be quite rude and off putting. I'm sure someone else in Anchorage will be more receptive of my business. You could probably care less because your schedule is so full you don't need my business, but this is damaging to your reputation and I would recommend discussing such with your front line because they're going to drive away clients.

Keegan is amazing highly recommend him, mountain mechanical’s pricing is very fair.
Have had them replace busted out plumbing and work on two different furnaces that were older and other companies tried to force us to replace because they were “unfixable”
Two thumbs up -
to be straight up and honest, these guys have a reputation for selling you stuff you don't need. had them go over to the house of more than one freind and tell them that the sky would fall if they did not replace their whole systems at the cost of thousands. in one case, it turned out to be a leaking dielectric gasket that was a total cost of about 50 cents and mayb1/2 hour labor. the system described here was only 4 or 5 years old and not even due for replacement!! this is a dishonest practice and a widespread reputation of these guys in the plumbing community of anchorage.

I called at 8AM to get on the schedule, I told them I was able to be home at 2PM. They said I was on the schedule and someone would call before they came over. I called at 3PM they had no word, I called at 5PM no word. I recived a call from the mechanic at 6PM and was told I would be charged after hours fees for a fix at 615PM and that I was never on their list. Little to say this is the last time we will work with this company. Ridiculous

They installed both a new tank-less water heater and a new forced air system in my home. Both work great. In 2 years, they only have had to come in twice to repair a dripping pan and a clogged air intake pipe for my water heater. That fixed it.

Had our Weil-McLain boiler quit working, the pilot light failed to turn on and had us stumped. The house was starting to get cold, 15 degrees outside. Called Mountain Mechanical at 5:05 pm their service tech Matt showed up at 6:25 pm. Matt came straight over from a different job and had our boiler fixed within 1/2 hour. Very friendly professional attitude, gave us some general maintenance tips and chewed the fat with us for a few and was off to his next job. Thanks to MM and Matt for a great job, will use again!

I wish I could give 0 stars.
The worst customer services I have ever encountered. I made an appointment over a month ago and today they called and said they wanted to reschedule me until after Christmas. I said I wanted something things checked out because of the earth quake and I was worried for the safety of my family and the response was your house isn't flooding so no appointment.
I completely understand that tragic events happen and that is more of the reason I wanted to have my house heater checked and was happy I had already made the appointment (I didn't even try to call and get you there sooner because I knew your company was helping other people I just turned the gas off and waited for my appointment). I'm worried about Carbindixode leaking from my heater and now have to try and find a better place to come inspect my home.
I am truly grateful that you are helping people with BIGGER JOBS after this earthquake, I want everyone to be safe and get there life back to normal, I just want to find someone to help my family and I.
ADDED AFTER RESPONSE FROM BUSINESS:
Please don't make it sound as if I am inhumane and don't care about other people's problems because that's simply not the case. I was in fact happy that you guys were working hard to help others with serious problems. Also it's extremely unfair to mention the discounted rate so many times in your response I don't care the cost of a possible problem to my heating and gas I would never worry about discounted rate or anything like that over the well being of my family that was extremely rude and unprofessional of you to throw jab's of a the discounted rate repeatedly in your response. My concern was the safety of my family which in your response was your employees concerns as well. Unfortunately I am not a hvac repair specialist and don't have the skill set to handle that line of work main reason for making an appointment for you to come out in the first place. I'm a father and husband who was concerned for his family's well being and no matter what you type in a response your company had no compassion towards my family's needs and worries and that is the reason I will inform every person I ever come in contact with to avoid your company. (also I did tell you that something was wrong and I really wanted to have you come check because I was worried I never said everything was ok I just want a check up I said I believe I have a problem and am happy I had the appointment already made. In Fact i waited 2 days with m,y gas turned off because I didn't want to call and ask you to come early because I knew there were other people with problems.) Long story short i was able to get a company (I will leave un-named) to come and they did find something cracked at my water heater and was glad I turned the gas off to it because it could have been something that could have cause my family problems.
I will say it again i appreciate that your business helped so many Alaskans I truly do. I just wish you would have the common courtesy to listen to my family concerns, because your company could have helped us as well. -
Kitchen faucet was leaking intermittently. I had a new faucet that needed installed. Keegan was prompt, courteous and left no mess when he was finished. Best of all, no leaks.

Very courteous and professional gentlemen came to do our boiler install, and completed the job very timely. Customer service and scheduling was a breeze also. Will continue using this mechanical company, they make my life easy.

I live in an eight story condominium (70 units), and volunteered to get a bid to put new baseboards for our hot water heat and install thermostats in individual units. Matt came to the building to take a look and requested the mechanical prints to be able to give a bid. Our condo association spent the money to make a copies of the mechanical prints. After over a month without hearing anything, I phoned the company and was told by the secretary-no bid would be coming. I requested the prints back and was told they no longer had them???
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH Mountain Mechanical -
Curtis was honest about the repairs I needed done and gave me a fair quote. He and John were professional and helpful. He eliminated some systemic problems and my boiler and indirect hot water heater are working well.

I woke up to a loud bang and no hot water on the first -11F day of the year. I called my usual handyman, but after getting no response my boss recommended Mountain Mechanical. I was in and out of my house all morning but they had a tech out in under an hour, figured out what went wrong and were able to explain their process from assessment, to repair, and what I can do to avoid having to call them in the future. Definitely added to my contact list for future repair.

Wm97 + combi boiler was installed by Matt 5 years ago for energy audit rebate program in tune of $13k. Just little after 2 years (after warranty expired) boiler sensor went out costing me $200 for part and $130 for labor. This year, I noticed the heat was not circulating throughout the condo. During inspection Mtn mechanical Curtis determined a bad recirculating pump, nonfunctioning boiler pump, and internal expansion tank full of water. After everything said and done it cost me $760 for repair. It turns out internal pump was not faulty but the logic board is going bad. Estimated cost of $600 for the board. I refused this service for another time since the boiler is working, but not as efficiently.
My gripe is with Weil McLain for shoddy product, and also share blame to Matt for pushing this boiler model. It was sold under the disguise as reliable , dependable, and cost saving. I’m venting my frustration here as a warning to stay away from tankless water heater. Go with cast iron and good old hot water tank.
Mtn mechanical has been professional throughout this ordeal so that deserves some credit.
My next place to write review will be on Weil McLain product webpage. Luckily WM97 is discontinued but there may be other models like it. -
After calling them last winter for a furnace that stopped working they did show up a lot quicker than expected, which was greatly appreciated. Had to call them for an issue recently, furnace still under warranty, and they did honor it😁. They have been professional and friendly.

Called yesterday at 8am for our water heater that was leaking and starting to flood our basement. Called again around noon and was told there were two customers ahead of us. Called at 4ish and got the after hour person. Was called later by the tech and he said it would be after 8pm and the cost would be 300 an hour. I told him I would wait until today.
Called first thing this morning and I was told I was a priority but they didn't know what time they would be there. Wife just called and was told there was 3 people ahead of us due to no heat. I understand heat is important during winter. Why not call the customer and say hey this is what is going on. Why is the customer with no hot water the one that has to pay the 210 or 300 an hour to get stuff fixed. -
Scheduled a general HVAC inspection. The phone calls were super pleasant and conversations were all helpful. HVAC techs were friendly (I was present during the appt) and were thorough,

Super nice, friendly, knowledgeable and totally trust this Mountain Mechanical to do the right job and make it as painless as possible. Keegan was on the way to the house for an emergency visit and walked me through some possible fixes just to save us some money. They worked until the next day when he had to come over and fix pipes that were frozen and broken. -20 on the east side of town, and we were able to stay in the house and have it fixed at very fair prices considering what had to be done and the conditions they had to be done in. Thanks guys!!

Last November we had a tech from Mountain Mechanical check on our furnace, looked like the mother board was going bad, so it was replaced for around $600. A few month later again, the mother board was going bad, thinking some switch was broke, when really it was the new mother board. We either get a new one, or a new furnace.
We spent a long time saving up, until a family member recommend we get Circle Plumbing & Heating check the furnace. Turns out the furnace really needed a wiring switch, and some adjustments since it wasn't installed properly. That costed us about $100 and the furnace has been working well since then.
We won't work with Mountain Mechanical, if you do, try Circle Plumbing & Heating first, or for a second opinion. -
Have been using them for 10 years, always prompt, always organized, always professional. Have done furnace servicing, installation of new hardware and installation of upgraded equipment. I find their prices have been competitive and keep using them because of their reliability and knowledge of how to explain problem situations in a way that is understandable to a home owner and with a range of options.

Matt installed a new furnace and fixed the ductwork for the adjacent hot water heater. They were fast, efficient and clean. Removed all the old parts, left us with a case of new filters and explained the new system. Highly recommend them.
