Constraction reviews in Chandler, Arizona

We had blank backyard. We contacted Unique along with other companies. We gave all an idea and a budget. The other two came back with nothing close to our budget and one of the two didn't do landscape. Mike (who has been amazing) gave us something under our budget allowing for more improvement. Jay and Charles ( the managers of the project) have always answered any questions I had (even on weekends) very quickly. Pamela was very helpful in getting our wire transfers handled. Ronny ,in charge of pool set everything up and explained very well. One the project was done we found somethings that needed touch up. They we're out the next day. These people have gone above what they are supposed to do. From extra lines for trees we put in ourselves to making our gates code safe for the pool. I would recommend to anyone.

I would highly recommend working with Unique for your landscaping project. They are professional and very detail oriented. Trey is the best superintendent (nice, patient, attentive, knowledgeable) and Tyler is a great salesman/designer. From beginning to end just an absolutely pleasure. So glad we chose them!

We started our project with Unique back in May or June I believe of 2022. After some not so great preliminary meetings with some other companies, it was great that we found Unique! This was our first complete backyard build but first pool build!

Erik Junge first met us at our house which was finishing construction. Really friendly guy that offers great design advice but never pressured us into anything. He took a mock up drawing we made and small wish list. He took the drawing and built off it into a detailed 3D model we could see online. Many other designers/builders we talked to previously would always change the design to their liking or to a cookie cutter design they stamp out over and over.

After finalizing the design, we met Erik at Unique’s HQ. Very impressive building with all the materials to choose from! The entire experience here was fun and stress-free.

The dig of our pool started in mid October. Rebar was installed the first week of November and shot Crete the first week of December. Everything went super smoothly and each team was amazing to watch. There were not any shortcuts taken. We appreciate the extra steps like soil tests to determine that we needed extra rebar. Many of our neighbors didn’t have this done and time will tell how that turns out.

Ultimately, our pool was finished in March of 2023! We didn’t think it would be done till May or June. Some of our neighbor’s projects took almost 2 years.

Our project managers: Dacia, Steve, Trey, & Chandler were all super responsive throughout the project. We were never left in the dark or wondering when they’d come back. Once the pool was filled, Anthony helped us understand how everything worked and replaced some equipment that wasn’t working. He was also very friendly and knowledgeable.

All in all, we love our backyard and couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. Unique completed everything faster than we anticipated and the attention to detail is visible. Their pricing is fair and not super inflated like some bids we received. I would recommend Unique to everyone and would work with them again in the future!

It was great working with Unique to create my dream pool project! The customer service and warranty were excellent. When I’ve needed warranty work done, they came out in a timely manner and finished the work quickly. I would use them again in a heartbeat. ❤️

Unique did an absolutely beautiful job renovating both our front and backyards. We have since moved, and we all miss our yard so much. It was incredibly special. If we still lived in Arizona I would hire them again in a heartbeat. Their design was amazing and the customer service was top notch. If you are looking to reimagine your space, Unique won’t disappoint.

We used Unique Landscapes & Custom Pools to build our dream Pool & Spa. We had a vision of what we wanted and had some designs made. Chris the owner personally help us navigate what we can do(stay within budget) and help us fine tune the final details.
They sent emails detailing what, where and when things would be done. I was truly amazed at the customer service given.
Well eventually pool was finished within time frames that they gave us. After a few weeks we noticed leaks around the pool. Chris and Sharon(Admin Manager).
For me follow up is a key..we would like for everything to be perfect but things happen and how a company responds speaks volume. They came out multiple times to fix the leaks never once not showing up and making sure they followed up. This leak was not easy but they fixed it and they kept me in the loop. This was not cheap for them but they wanted to make sure everything was right. I can't thank Chris, Sharon and Unique team for delivering a specatacular Pool & Spa. They took care of us in beginning middle and end and they our there if the need arises. Thank you for all you have done, treating our pool as if it was your own.

I can't thank Chris and Unique Landscapes & Custom Pools enough for the amazing work they have done. I have completed two projects with them, personal residents in Chandler and a remodel in Paradise Valley. Chris went above and beyond helping me with the designs and the execution of his team was as advertised. I would highly recommend Unique to anyone looking for a pool, spa, ramada and/or any landscape needs.

Its unfortunate that the reviews are not in line with service and experience provided to us. Im not sure if it was the person assigned to us but it was misleading, lack of organization, communication and quite frankly a waste of time. We wanted to get a bid and expressed urgency due to the time frame we had and not only our time wasted twice, once going into the design center without having a design or pricing after that being the expectation, but the 2nd virtual meeting, where the design was presented, missed details that impacted the pricing and were not capturing our initial wants. Additionally, when we reviewed the updated pricing we didnt know that a line item added in with a dollar amount was not a part of the total in proposal and was never called out. Its very misleading to the consumer and disappointing to operate like this. Why include an option into a proposal but it not be calculated in the total of the proposal provided? Long story short, the pricing ended up being an additional 20k. The price was close to well known high-end pool company. We ended up going with that company and paying a premium because.

After consulting eight landscape contractors we down selected to two and ultimately decided to go with Unique for our backyard. We bought new but unfortunately, like many homes here, had such a small backyard that we were very limited on options for what we could do. We gave Unique our general idea of what we wanted and they came back to us with a plan that fit our vision, including a few things we hadn’t noticed at the time - like the need for a gutter/downspout.

They were a little more expensive than the other company but both would do all of the subcontracting themselves.

After going back and forth for a few weeks where they answered our additional questions and made the final changes we wanted to their design we contracted. Initial down payment was one month prior to their start of work (they let us know beforehand their timeframe, so we were fine with it) and the project lasted a little under four weeks. We had Trey as our foreman and he did a fantastic job both making himself available to us as well as answering questions on the fly as we had them when he was at the site.

Overall we’re very happy with the finished product. Yes, we paid a bit of a premium to go with Unique (though not that much) but felt like it paid off with the quality of the work that was done.

We had a fantastic experience from start to finish with Unique. Unique handled our whole yard: built our pool, backyard kitchen, firepit, pergola and front and backyard landscaping.

Our experience started with Kevin, who took our vision and turned it into an amazing design. He was patient and worked with us on all of our requests.  Kevin's vision took a relatively small backyard and utilized every square foot to turn a dirt patch into a beautiful outdoor living space. We received 2 other project quotes and concepts and Unique not only had the best design, but also the most competitive price.

Before breaking ground, Chris (the owner), Kevin and other team members came out and walked through the yard to make sure all was set. The construction process was great. The team (led by Bart) was great. They were able to meet their promised schedule. Several neighbors had other companies and we were swimming well before our neighbors were. The quote came in almost spot on, and there was only one minor price change.

The final product has been amazing and we couldn't be happier. Everyone who visits us marvels at our yard and how perfect it is. The warranty team has been very responsive to questions and any issues (very few) we have encountered so far.

Had issue with spa that has been ongoing. It took a little bit for the warranty process to get resolved and the work to get scheduled as it was out of the warranty period. Sharon did a great job with hearing me out and understanding the situation. She presented the timeline and the ongoing problems to Chris who stepped up and did the right thing even with the warranty being expired. Unique stood behind there work and took care of the necessary repairs once the underlying cause of the problem was discovered. Bart did a great job communicating and getting repairs done. Thank you to Chris, Sharon, Bart and the crew for standing behind their work and helping fix the problem.

*UPDATE*
It's now been over 6 years and aside from regular maintenance, I've had no problems / major repairs needed. It's such high quality work. The pool still cleans itself and I've never had to hire a pool company. I really can't be happier with the project. It also still wows new guest, 6 years later.

It's been almost 2 years since my project was completed and I'm even happier I picked Unique now, than we when we originally signed the contract. The is 100% because of their follow up! Chris and his team stay in touch on a regular basis. There have been a few minor issues (nothing urgent) with the pool, but I never have to worry about anything! Bonny and the warranty department handle everything very efficiently. They stay in touch during the scheduling / repair process and then follow up again once completed. I do not feel like I am completely on my own.

This is a company that has worked hard to achieve a stellar reputation. I have no issues recommending them to anyone. I know they will treat my referrals the same way they treat me!

****Update to review 3 months later
After posting this review, I was contacted by Unique to let me know that the head superintendent Bart would like to meet with me and discuss the project. Meeting with him gave me the confidence to continue with Unique to let them try to make it right.

It took about 3 months to do so, and two separate attempts on getting the pool stain out, but it is now completed. Unique also added some landscaping to revive what they had previously done on another job that was affected by their original poor job on the drainage, and they were willing to take items that I was unhappy with off the bill.

I am amending my review from the original one star to three stars. In sum, my recommendation would be to not use Unique for jobs smaller than an entire backyard. That seems to have been our issue this time. I believe that they gave me no priority either with the selection of the people to work my job or with timing to get things done. None of this pain needed to happen other than for those two reasons. Bart was professional, knowledgeable, and pleasant in high contrast to my initial experience.

Unique damaged my property, didn’t finish the job, and ghosted me. Tomorrow will be 3 weeks since my job was started.

First they drained my pool and damaged my property (only company to ever do so when draining my pool) which required multiple truckloads of dirt to repair.

They partially drained it into a vessel to retain some of the water which I requested and paid for but did it unprofessionally and lost a bunch of water. I had to temporarily fix it myself or all of the water would have been lost. They made that my fault because I requested something they hadn’t done before.

They couldn’t give me a schedule and when they did, they continually missed it saying that they couldn’t control their subcontractors.

They left my pool drained for 11 days but not fully drained as it should have been and so there is a large stain now in the shape of that standing water.

They told me to fill my own pool and restart my own pump but they left it disassembled.

When I raised any issue it was “no big deal” or “would be fine.” I didn’t sign up for any of it, and it was a big deal, and it certainly is not fine. My backyard is worse than it was before they started.

They didn’t finish all of the work, and after giving me the runaround (“it’s not me it’s him” type of unprofessional stuff) they stopped responding to me. I tried several people through both phone and email multiple times, finally including the president. 4 days since that with no reply.

Unfortunately I am now going to have to find another company to fix their issues and finish the work.

I deeply regret having contracted with this company and wish you luck if you choose to do so.

We completed our second project with Unique and are so pleased with the results. James was great to work with once the project was underway. He sent regular communication to let us know when anyone would be onsite and clearly explained the few challenges we ran into (which were due to changes from the city, not Unique), as well as figuring out the easiest solutions to keep the project on track. The Unique team brought our vision to life!

We met Steve Marr from Unique for 1st time in June. From the start, he was easy to talk to and really listened to what we wanted. We had some general ideas, but he came back with great suggestions that were way better than what we had in mind so my husband and I decided to give them our contract.

One side of our yard was just dirt when we started. They built our pool, handled all the landscaping, including trees, plants, putting green. They also work around with us and saved most of our existing landscape including some of our old pavers.

Now that it’s done, we’ve been enjoying our pool. A couple small warranty things came up, and they were quick to respond and now they are taking care of them. Believe me or not they finished our project only in 6weeks as they had promise!!

Everyone we worked with was great. Steve, Pam and Julie in the office were all super helpful, and the guys out in the field — Scott and Dayton — were great as well. Our project manager Stacey was SUPER her communication via emails and text messages were great. I’m sure I’m forgetting a few names, but everyone we interacted with was friendly and professional.

I would definitely recommend Unique!!

Unique was an outstanding company to work with in the completion of our pool and landscaping project. From the original design development through construction, punch list completion, billing, and warranty, Unique was always first class! Chris, the owner was significantly involved throughout the process. Bart, our site supervisor was excellent and the crew was superb! The office personnel, in particular Pam and Sharon became like family as we navigated the issues involved with a project this large and sophisticated. I have completed numerous landscaping projects myself so I knew what to look for and Unique surpassed my high expectations. I am familiar with many pool and landscaping projects that have been completed by other companies in my community and elsewhere and I would rate Unique head and shoulders above them relative to creativity, craftsmanship, cost, and customer service. The entire team at Unique did an outstanding job from start to finish making sure that our project was completed to our satisfaction. They treat each customer with respect no matter the size of the job. Their foremen and assistants were always attentive and great keeping us updated with project timeline, expectations, and easily contactable if we saw things that were not being done as we had expected. We would highly recommend Unique to anyone that has a major yard project in mind - they are not the least expensive company but in the end you absolutely get the service that you have paid for.

I recently used Unique Landscapes and Customs Pools to "refresh" my existing pool by installing new ledger rock around the pool and outdoor kitchen as well as getting the interior surface of the pool and spa chipped out and installed with new Wet Edge surface.

My experience from start to finish was outstanding. Recommendations and 3D visual renderings from the sales team helped with seeing what the final product would look like.

The Construction Manager was excellent to work with, keeping me up to date on progress and tending to my concerns or requests.

I have used Unique Landscapes for 3 different projects over the pas 14 years, with this one being the 4th, and would strongly recommend this company to anyone looking new builds or upgraded work.

Our yard was just dirt when we started. They built our pool, pergola, grill, dining and sitting areas, added some interior walls to break up the space, and handled all the landscaping, including trees, plants, putting green. KP also works with a turf company that finished things off nicely.

Now that it’s done, we’ve been enjoying the pool all summer. A couple small warranty things came up, and they were quick to respond and take care of them with no hassle.

Everyone we worked with was great. KP, Pam, Dacia, Julie, and Sharon in the office were all super helpful, and the guys out in the field — Trey, Robert, Dayton — were solid. I’m sure I’m forgetting a few names, and let's not forget the countless skilled laborers who showed up every day. Unique did a full yard remodel for us. The process was seamless. The communication from our designer, Jaime was remarkable. She was such a valuable resource. Our construction manager, Bart kept our project moving and made sure that we were 100% satisfied every step of the way. After completion, we had a tree snap in the wind and Sharon in the warranty department had our replacement out the next day. It was incredible service. We are so pleased we chose unique and will recommend them over & over again.
