We’ve waited to post any reviews to ensure we weren’t being too rash or letting emotions dictate the service provided. Ultimately, we weren’t satisfied with the service the contents team provided. We do understand that there are some circumstances beyond our control that dictated the processing of our contents such as the fire investigation and the multiple break ins. Unfortunately, we strongly feel that our contents were mishandled and mismanaged. What solidified this assertion was when the contents team manager informed us via a phone call that a prior member of the team had marked some if not all our items as cleaned/restored even though they weren’t.

Quite a few items were returned still covered in soot or smelling strongly of smoke. We thought after bringing it to the contents team attention and facilitating a second cleaning would have rectified this but even after a second cleaning many items were found heavily coated in soot. Our movie collection was returned like they pulled it off our bookcase and boxed it after the fire and never opened the box again. Same with our dishes and cookware. We have a lot of pictures...

A large majority of my wife’s clothing was never returned but somehow clothing items that were in the same drawers or locations were returned. The cleaners that they used to clean/deodorize our clothing was so strong it caused us to either have moderate skin irritation or sinus headaches from the scent. There were still underlying scents of smoke and soot until we rewashed most of our returned garments.

Items that we thought to be missing due to the break ins as they were not inventoried were returned. We are happy to have gotten them back, but it shows that a thorough inventory was not taken with our contents. This is more evident as items that were inventoried were not returned. There are even instances where photos of our contents were uploaded to their system months after it was submitted to my insurance for processing. For instance, all our books were missing and never inventoried or documented but they were clearly present in the matterport. An inventory provided with a more current date showed they were inventoried which contradicts the inventory sent to my insurance adjuster saying it was completed.

Essentially, we had 2 completed inventories with 2 dates with new items added to the more current inventory. Unfortunately, the general consensus from Kowalski is that they must have been taken during the break-ins but honestly, we feel like some of our possessions were just chucked in a dumpster, so they didn’t have to deal with us since we made a big deal about the break ins.

We inquired multiple times to ensure that all of our contents were returned to us with the contents team since we had issues with missing inventoried items and items that were returned that were thought stolen. They found another box of ours. We are not sure how or why these items weren’t returned to us initially.

We do appreciate all that was done to try and make things right but there have been too many compounding negative situations. We can’t in good conscience recommend this service from Kowalski construction based on our experience.

First of all, I would like to say that the actual work performed on my home was great - I have no issues with the quality of work. What I do have a problem with is their management team.

    The short story:
The SENIOR estimator claims to have never seen the project he was estimating and came up with a price he sent directly to the insurance company (never sent to me) for nearly three times the amount approved by insurance, adding line items for work that wasn't needed or done.

    The long story:
We had a car run into our garage, causing some damage to the interior wall into our house. I filed a claim with my homeowner's insurance and contacted Kowalski to get an estimate to repair a 2' x 3' patch of drywall, 2' of bottom plate and some molding - the damage was not very extensive. They provided a contract to us, based on the approved insurance amount of $3,655 - we promptly signed and returned the contract on 12/5.

On 12/11, their senior project estimator sent over a supplement to our claims adjuster, adding over $7,000 to the estimate, bringing the total over $11,000. He never sent this to us, we knew nothing about it. He included items like a portable toilet, permits and fees, and nearly $1,000 to remove and reattach cabinets that my husband removed and reattached. My adjuster had been on PTO so I didn't find out about this supplement until a few weeks later, after the work had already been started, and I questioned it with my claims adjuster. My husband and I are both in the construction industry and knew the repairs were nowhere near the $11,000 Kowalski estimated.

Our adjuster sent the Kowalski estimator an email questioning it, which he replied to, defending the amount and stating if our adjuster refuses to pay the amount, he needed to talk to his supervisor. When I chimed into the email chain, requesting a copy of this supplement, letting them know materials were likely around $500, and the gentleman doing the work was here for about four hours on two different days to complete the work, the estimator then replied back that he had done a deep dive on this job and found that the work that needed to be done was a lot less extensive than he originally thought.

Here's my problem. This gentleman is an estimator. A SENIOR estimator. How can he possibly come up with an estimate if he claims he never saw the damage?? That seems like very bad business practice. Even one photo of the damage would have told him there's no way it was anywhere close to $11,000. So what is he estimating from? How many other people have signed contracts with them without the estimator seeing the projects?

It does seem to me that someone was trying to pull a fast one on our insurance company, got caught and then back peddled. I understand mistakes happen, and supplements to insurance claims are sometimes needed. But to inflate the quote almost three times more than the approved insurance amount and contract we signed, and to say the SENIOR estimator never had eyes on the project he was estimating, in addition to sending everything to my claims adjuster and taking me out of the loop - well that all seems very suspect. If it wasn't an attempt to get more money from our insurance company, then it was extremely bad and sloppy business. Either way, I will not be using Kowalski again.

I live in an apartment complex and our management hired Kowalski Construction to repair water damage I had in the laundry room. They did a great job and the laundry room honestly looks as good as new! The maintenance worker, Hunter, was very kind, diligent, and considerate of the space he was working in. I was very impressed with his work and would recommend this company if you’re looking for great service.

If I could give Kowalski Construction more than 5 stars, I would! Their tenacious determination to correct issues my 1st contractor (now bankrupt) left me to discover on the night of Aug. 14, 2025 was more than admirable. Aug.14th was the 1st of 3 other torrential rain storms that flooded my newly expanded bedroom. I was referred that night to Kowalski Construction's Remediation Division. After another 2 remediations (both in Sept.), I was referred to the construction side of Kowalski Construction. Once it was discovered that my 1st contractor had buried my existing gutter over the kitchen area into the walls between my kitchen and new bedroom, they quickly began repair work. First they had to clean out all the debris and dirt between the walls since the walls acted as a downspot for the buried gutter. They addresses any mold issues at that time. Their price was more than reasonable considering all the manhours they put in just to identify the problem. I couldn't be more pleased with the work done by both divisions of Kowalski Construction!

Servpro of Phoenix was very helpful in settling the mitigation issue in our space. They were understanding with an ongoing insurance and legal battle. Mostly, they were kind. Ann with Billing was always very kind and understanding and worked with us without using any high pressure or unkind tactics.

I reached out to Servpro in the beginning of March. I needed restoration work done by the end of April or else my homeowners insurance was not going to be renewed. They were really quick with being able to come out and provide an estimate. I explained my predicament of needing the repair done by the end of April and Servpro was able to work with me and keep me up to date and complete the repair in time and I was able to have my homeowners insurance renewed!

From the moment I first contacted them, I was treated with care and concern. We were on vacation and my house sitter noticed the standing water. My initial contact with them was not only via phone but I was in a different time zone. Jessica answered the phone and went into action immediately. This was the first time I ever needed to contact this type of service and she guided me through the process. She contacted her folks immediately and got them out there to begin working on the water standing in my house - and kept me informed along the way. They were at the house within about 1.5 hours of my making the initial call.

We got the water shut off. Then all I had to do was coordinate to have someone meet them at the house and give them the key. They took it from there, including put a lockbox on the door so that my house sitter didn't need to come and go. I spoke with the Project Manager, David, when they first arrived. He did a great job of talking me through what he saw and his initial recommendations.

When we arrived the next day, the water was all gone. They floor was dry. There wasn't a sign of flooding remaining in the home. They'd moved all furniture into the center of each room and covered it with plastic. Anything that was on the floor was dried off and stacked for us to go through. There people were SO polite and caring. We got into town as they were about done for the day, the waited for us to arrive home from the airport. The Project Manager took us through the house, explained what they'd done so far and made any additional recommendations. The time that he spent walking us through and listening and answering questions was invaluable. We discussed where we needed to go from there.

The last day, we had a crew that did nothing but clean. They vacuumed the entire house. Wiped down cabinets and shelves. They even mopped. We only have bathroom floors remaining, but they still mopped up the concrete, too. I'm not sure I knew what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised by this. It made waking up a bit more comfortable this morning.

In all, we had them at the house on the emergency evening for about 3 hours, then I think 6 full time days (we had some VERY difficult wood flooring to remove and the last day was the clean up day). I've sent off fabric furniture to them for cleaning (couches). I assume that will turn out wonderfully, too. Jessica said she's mailing us a CD of all of the photos they took while they were here (probably most of them pre-work and with water).

One more thing I'd like to mention is that our insurance company denied our claim. When they realized that, they were very sympathetic. Instead of waiting for a bill, I asked them to hit me up with an estimate so that I could manage the money situation with my bank. The last day they were here (for clean up) is the day that the I requested the bank transfer. I'm glad they let me work that way, because we'd just put the flooring deposit on our credit card and I wasn't ready for them to charge the card the full amount due. Another sign that they 'get it' and are a great to work with.

Soza M and Nik came by. They were very helpful and knowledgeable. Knew what they were doing, and set up fans and ripped out carpet, cleaned up after themselves. Great guys. Thanks for the help!

Jeff , Jacob and Austin were very professional. They came within an hour after being called and took care of everything. I have a house full of fans, all furniture has been moved. Everything that needs to be done was explained very well. Words cannot accurately express my gratitude.

Outstanding customer service as well as kind hearted employees. I had the privilege of speaking with Melissa regarding my situation. Melissa provided nothing short of amazing customer service and expressed empathy for me. She was very detail oriented and provided amazing, but realistic feedback and resolution in a difficult situation.
