HVAC reviews in Tucson, Arizona

I have been a customer of Breezeways Air Conditioning & Heating for eleven years, since I purchased my Trane Heat Pump from them with an extended ten year warranty (parts & labor) included.
After that warranty ended, on 8/18/2020 I entered into a maintenance agreement with them for three years at a cost of $660.00. The agreement form which was dated 7/6/2020 was confirmed by them as a “binding contract” with their 8/18/2020 email, and did not require signature or made any reference to the fee as being non-refundable. Once they received my payment on 8/18/2020, however, they issued another agreement stating that the fee is “non-refundable”!
On December 14, 2020 a new technician came to conduct the very first service. He climbed to my roof where the unit is located and after a few short minutes, he came with some pictures of the Heat Pump’s exterior which were of no substance and gave me an estimate of $1,000.00 for required repairs covering replacement of the Condenser Motor and for injecting the HVAC Unit with A/C Renew. Because of the very short time this man stayed on the roof, during which he could not possibly have performed any of the eleven tasks listed in our agreement (i.e. checking the air flow, filter, safety controls, etc.), I called BreezeWays office to complain and requested that they send an experienced technician to perform these required functions.
Unfortunately, there was no satisfactory response and I decided to call another recommended Air Conditioning & Heating Co. to conduct an independent diagnosis of the unit without letting them know of what transpired earlier. Two of their technicians, with 20 years of experience on Heat Pumps, came and worked for 45 minutes. At the end, they concluded that there was nothing wrong with my unit; it was working normally and there was no need to replace the Condenser Motor or to inject the HVAC with any Renew!
In view of the above revelation and the overall unprofessional service I received from BreezeWays, I sent them a letter on 12/23/2020 stating that I now consider our agreement terminated for not fulfilling their obligations and requested reimbursement of my maintenance fee. Regrettably, they never responded and I had to submit my complain to BBB. BreezeWays continued to be stonewalling by incorrectly referring to their second agreement as a binding contract and making bogus claims. At the end, they offered to reimburse me only a small fraction of the fee, which was totally unacceptable.
SO, BEWARE OF THEIR DECEIVING PRACTICE!
=======================================
Status as of July 20, 2021:
It has been six months since Breezeways shamefully claimed that my HVAC Unit needed a "new Condenser Motor and to be injected with A/C Renew"!! As previously reported, no repairs at all were needed and my unit has been running flawlessly, proving that their claim was very deceitful for extracting a few $$$ with no regard to a good long-term customer relationship.
BEWARE!!. -
They have maintained our A/C and heating for many years and replaced the units when they were no longer functional. The equipment they recommended and installed were great. They are efficient and are amazing for the price of the replacement. Their technicians are helpful, pleasant and know what they are doing. Thank you Breezeways.

I got ripped off by dishonest people, unprofessional staff and deceptive business practice. I called this company because my AC was not giving cold air. They asked me that it would cost us $1200 for parts and labor. Technician stated that he has to buy a new fan motor in order to fix the problem. Technician asked for $600 in advance and we trusted them and made the payment with a check. He did not give us any estimate in writing or receipt of receiving a check of $600.00. Next day, technician came with a fan motor which was not new. In fact, it had all signs and symptoms of being obtained from junk yard. Technician kept on telling us that it is new which was a false statement. We called the office immediately to report, Ms. K restated that it was new fan motor. Finally Ms.K. Ms. T and the technician admitted that it was not a new motor. They breached the confidence, trust and proved that never use people who are in business with unscrupulous business practice, cheating and taking advantage of old female customers. The office manager acting in bad faith and is intentionally ignoring our emails, phone calls to refund our money for not performing the work.
7/1/2019 We are appealing for wrong decision. Here is the photo of old worn out rusted motor that breezeways dishonestly proceeded to install to our AC unit which would have damaged our compressor . Consequently causing a significant unwarranted damage to our AC unit.
CEO of the company has produced a imaginary invoice of $600 to the ROC inspector but inspector never demanded a proof from CEO. Investigation is biased inadequate and out of context. Our complaint was not addressed by the inspector and allegations against breezeways never been discovered and verified. Breezeways billing is inaccurate and false. It has charged us for the work never performed by Breezeways -
The man who came to do the check up seemed very nice. He told us it's gonna cost an arm an a leg so he was told we would just go through our regular guy then my fiance left for work. I was in my room trying to keep my dogs quiet and calm but was waiting for a sign that he was done so I could come out and sign of and get any additional info. I didn't hear anything in the hall do I went out to see but he was leaving so I thought maybe I would get a call or text about what was going on but I received nothing. A couple days later when my AC froze up again, I went to defrost it like I have in the past numerous times (enough times to know how to open it up and get to it with ease) but as I'm pulling the covers off I noticed that the area I need to open up is already open. He didn't bother to put stuff back the way he found it, didn't bother to say anything when he stripped out some of the screws (till the threads were shiney and smooth) so my air had just been blowing out as fast as it was going in which made it freeze up twice as fast. I still haven't received a text or call or email stating what he even did while he was here. Pretty unprofessional I think. I figure when he was told we would go elsewhere he decided the heck with being thorough and just left.

Workmen came to the house and were very attentive to our needs. They were especially careful about tracking dirt into the house and they cleaned up very nicely after the job was done. The whole set up was very professional. I’m happy with the results and the equipment they installed. I would recommend Breezeway’s highly

The fan on our unit wouldn't shut off, even when we turned it off. When we called Breezeways, they said someone would be here between 3-5 PM. Ron was here a little before 3 and had us "cooling down" within 30 minutes! Ron was professional and pleasant to work with...Breezeways is always very concerned about their customers. Great company!

I had an appointment on Wednesday, Nov 28, at 11:15. I decided that I could fit the appointment in between a dental visit and my exercise class at 12n. I missed the exercise class and have yet to see the technician. I had errands to run the day before Thanksgiving, so I finally cancelled for Wed. David had called to say he was running late and finally arrived at
2:55p, but, of course, I was not home. Hopefully we will do better next week. -
Sean was amazing! He provided excellent service and was totally honest. He answered all our questions, sent us pictures, and did a great job! He went above above and beyond on this call to assist our disabled senior citizen! Thank you so very much! Highly recommend this company!

I can't overstate the awesome service that I got and continue to get from Breezeways. Jose is extremely knowledgeable and trustworthy. He fully explained everything that was happening with my system and taught me how to maintain it. His experience and high level of integrity make him the best HVAC guy in Tucson. I would never work with anyone else!

Words cannot express the gratitude I have for Tonya W/ Breezeways Air Conditioning. I was in tears when we finished our call Monday morning. My AC went out Saturday and my 73 year old Uncle, with stage 4 terminal cancer is in my 90 plus degree house; I've been worried sick. Tonya had a technician at my house within a few hours, to help get our AC issues resolved within 24 hours. She didn't stop there! While on the phone, Tonya even offered to help my daughters AC issue, checked her warranty and is got help to her and her newborn as well. This company just earned a customer and referral source for life!! Great service and genuine care for our situation. Thank you, Ray, Ron and Tonya!

We purchased two rooftop air conditioners from Breezeways and kept them under continuous maintenance; this service cost over 1,000 dollars. Recently, after nine years, one of the two units had a problem, it diagnosed quickly, and repair was simple. A starting capacitor was weak and failed to start the cooling fan. Breezeways charged me $254.00 for the new part. I looked the part up online and saw that "I" could buy the same capacitor from the same manufacturer for $14.00. With repairs completed Breezeways conducted a lingering (past-due) maintenance on both units. I'm baffled and disappointed to think loyalty means nothing and that a longtime customer is expected to pay a markup of over one thousand eight hundred percent! I shudder to imagine the cost for everyone else. Also, the defective oil-dripping capacitor was tossed off my roof and into the front yard where it was left for me to collect and discard. Something is different with this business, new ownership – perhaps. It is not unreasonable that a longtime loyal customer should expect fair and reasonable pricing and be respected and valued in the process.

I have been trying to get Breezeway to repair my AC/ furnace that they installed. I have taken time off from work and they have no showed twice. Their phone system doesn't work properly nor the staff. You leave a message and they do not call you back. You leave a message with their office staff which is one person and she does not call you back. I have been rescheduled numerous times. I've never experienced such unprofessionalism and so many excuses as to why they do not show up. Even when they promised that they will be there they still no show. This has been going on since last year. I will never use them again!

Worst experience I've ever had. Experience started out great. On initial call they sent someone out immediately. The tech told us we needed a new unit. Since install of the unit it's been an absolute nightmare. We are going on 3 weeks since they installed the new unit and it's never worked correctly. They've damaged the drywall in ceiling coming through the attic with one workers boot. Damaged attic entry, damaged laundry shelving unit, damaged drywall in the laundry room, left a mess in the attic (empty water bottles, spilt pvc glue, screws, cut pieces of metal) and did a poor job putting the garage entry door back on. All issues I have taken pictures of and have documented on a list. They've reused parts and equipment during install of new unit, used my personal tools (including shop vac, extension cords, floor jack, hammer, pry bar and cordless drill), said they would over night a part over a week ago that still hasn't come in yet all while the "Brand New" unit runs around the clock and never gets to the set temperature on the thermostat. My wife, myself and 3 children have been hot constantly in our house and have had to run occilating fans in every room to sleep half way decent over the last 3 weeks. I've also have tried to call the manager/owner and haven't been called back. Only positive I could say about this company is that the tech Ray has tried his hardest when he's here to fix the previous mistakes done by the original installers. It just seems as though he's over worked and tired when he is here and seems to be pulled in too many directions. I hope to have these issues resolved soon and feel that this should not be an issue with a brand new unit that we will be spending so much money on.

Breezeways came to my place of business for a a/c no cool. All the employees that's was involved did a out standing job from Manny,Ray,Sean all did a great job. They all was very helpful. Tonya is the manager and she followed up on the job many times to make sure we were being taken care of. After the diagnostics were completed it was determined that we needed a new unit and we proceeded with breeze ways because of the outstanding service we got.

Wonderful experience at every level. Dave the salesman was professional and knowledgeable, the installers were quick and efficient. The pricing for the unit was in line with, if not less than others I had provided me quotes. When all was done, Dave came by to make sure everything was good and noted a tear in my new electronic filter and had it replaced in a timely manner.

8/11/2016 - Update:
The work to replace our thermostat was completed today and I am very satisfied with work. I would like to thank Brian for his efforts to help resolve the issue. I am once again a happy customer!

I will be looking for another company to maintain both my AC and Cooler units going forward. I have been having problem with my cooler thermostat for a couple of weeks so I called Breezeways to schedule an appointment to fix this and do my annual AC maintenance at the same time. The guy was up on the roof for maybe 10 minutes and then simply looked at the cooler thermostat for 1 minute and said it should be replaced but he did not have a unit in his truck and that he would call me back.
Problems I have here:
1. Does it really take only 10 minutes for a annual AC unit check. I am dubious that a thorough job was done.
2. Second, the main problem for the service call was not even addressed, and now almost 2 weeks later and still no return call on when they can fix the thermostat.
Too bad I can't give this review half a star or less because that is all that it merits. -
Beware of Deceitful and Unethical Business Practices
Last July, my AC suddenly started behaving badly – with intermittent failures. I noticed it on a Thursday, I called Breezeways on Friday morning, and they sent a technician out on Friday evening. When the technician arrived, he was unable to determine the exact source of the failure. He acknowledged that he was a new employee to this company and new to the HVAC industry, which is why he called his manager. After calling his manager, he recommended that he clean the condenser coil. He said this would typically be an expensive cleaning, but they'd make me a deal: $250 for the condenser cleaning, if I purchased a 3 year service warranty for $600, for a total charge of $850. He said the cleaning was 95% likely to solve my AC failure. I agreed to this and the technician cleaned the condenser coils and then departed. NOTE that they did not provide any documentation and I did not sign any invoice or receipt for service.
Day 2 - the AC unit again failed and I called Breezeways. This time they sent their supervisor out, and he was also unable to determine the root cause of the problem. When he was at my house, the AC unit was working, and he could not find root cause of the problem. He departed.
Day 3 – the AC unit again failed, I called Breezeways and they sent the supervisor back out again. This time he took more measurements, and determined that the interior windings were failing. He said because the AC unit had exceeded its life expectancy (it was 16 years old), I would need to replace the entire unit. I expressed my frustration that I had paid for a cleaning and warranty on a unit that was 16 years old. The supervisor apologized for the previous technician and again indicated that particular technician was new to the company and to the HVAC industry, and he “probably shouldn’t have sold me an unnecessary cleaning.” He said that if I purchased a new AC unit from Breezeways, they would give me a 100% credit for my previous $850 payment.
I then got a second and third opinion about the AC failure (which was confirmed), and I solicited five estimates for a new AC unit. The Breezeways estimates for a new AC unit were $3000+ higher than any other company for the same size and quality. I then purchased a new AC unit with another local company.
I then contacted Breezeways for documentation regarding the 3 year service warranty I had purchased. Their office manager sent me a receipt that indicated I had paid $725 for a condenser cleaning, along with a $125 service visit. This was absolutely incorrect, and I immediately called to clarify the situation, explaining that I had purchased a 3 year warranty, along with the coil cleaning. I naively assumed this was an honest mistake and I asked her to speak with the original technician to clarify what has been verbally sold to me. I also pointed out that the receipt she sent me was signed with the initials “SD” – but my initials are “NM.” She said she would research this and she would call me back. She never called me back.
I then called the supervisor to explain the situation and after discussing this with him, he said he'd support a 50% refund of my $850 payment. He believed this was a reasonable resolution and the office manager would need to process the refund. I called the office manager again. She said she’d have to speak with the owner because only he could process the refund for me. However I never heard back from her. I called the office manager probably 2 dozen times over 2 months and she never returned my calls and never processed the refund. After 3 months of unsuccessful communication with Breezeways, I reached out to the Better Business Bureau, but they were unable to intervene and the dispute remains unresolved through them.I will now be pursuing a dispute with Breezeways in small claims court.
I have never written a negative online review before, but I truly believe this company has demonstrated deceitful and unethical business practices and I would strongly urge you to seek out service from ANY other AC company. -
To be completely honest, if I had rated Breezeways a few years ago, it would not have been this high. But, since Junior started serving my AC unit, I have been extremely pleased. He is polite, pleasant, knowledgeable, and takes the time to explain things to me. He is frank about the cost (and apologetic when it's high!). He also solved a problem that I've had since the unit was installed - and I had asked every technician who came out about it. Junior was the first one to recommend a solution and I have been very happy with it.
Today, I had to call for Saturday service - and much to my surprise, Junior was the person on call. He called me right back, apologized that he would not be able to get here until the afternoon, and keep me updated about his arrival time. He fixed the problem and took care of everything very professionally. -
Jordan Oliver was our technician. He arrived promptly and I noticed he sanitized, put booties and a mask on before greeting me. Jordan was very professional and and explained everything in detail regarding my two AC’s. I give this company a 10/10 for all areas of service and quality. What a great experience, especially during this time. Thank you!

They are an extremely unethical company. I signed a contract with them in April that they have not honored. I just spoke to the owner who refused to refund me my money, so now I will be forced to file a complaint with the BBB and the Attorney General. They no showed to their appointment at my house on Thursday, after I got a confirmation text and email the day before. When I called to find out why, I was told someone had COVID and everyone had to be tested. Both the person I spoke to on Thursday and the owner I spoke to today rudely asked me if I wanted someone to come to my house who had COVID. I explained that there was no reason I couldn't have gotten an email or a text letting me know the appointment was cancelled, just like I had gotten an email and text the day before confirming the appointment. Neither the person I spoke to on Thursday or the owner I spoke to today could provide an explanation of why I could not receive a call or a text letting me know the appointment had been cancelled. Instead I took Thursday morning off work and waited all morning until it was past my appointment window, and then called to find out what was going on. It's no wonder the person I spoke to on Thursday was unhelpful, as the owner I spoke to today was also unhelpful. He just wants to take your money and doesn't care about providing decent service, we'll see what the BBB and the Attorney General think about that. The owner also lied and said I have received service on this contract which is 100% not true. I signed the contract after my Spring service in April, and this would have been my first time receiving service on this contract. I fully expect the owner or someone else from this company to reply with more ridiculous excuses and/or lies, which I will be more than happy to add to my complaints with the BBB and the Attorney General. EDIT: Breezeways's response is a lie, which is no surprise given how they have behaved to date. As I said, I knew this unethical company would respond with lies. Instead of providing good service, they appear weirdly obsessed with responding with excuses and lies to every review that rightly calls them out for being the terrible company they are. Also, if one person could have truly exposed all their staff to COVID it means they were not following any safety protocols. We are almost 2 years into this pandemic and there is no excuse for not having better procedures in place to notify customers that appointments need to be cancelled. This was the second time they have no called no showed for an appointment. The owner did not offer to reschedule the appointment, instead he told me to find a company "that better fit my needs." You are in breach of contract Breezeways, and will be held responsible. Fool around and find out.
