HVAC reviews in Tucson, Arizona

After reading the other reviews, I now no that I am not the only one who is shopping for a new service. Every complaint posted is identical to my own and then some. If you can find any other company to do business with I'm sure you are moving in the right direction.

The absolutely worst company and service that I have ever experienced. I would give them a MINUS 5 stars if it were possible. I could write a book , but I would highly discourage anyone from becoming involved with this company!
-
Knowledgeable and willing to explain. Has done a great job and very thorough. Sal is friendly, business like and has done a great job.

They have been calling me twice a week since February. I keep telling them that I am not interested, etc.
Got 3 calls in two days this week so I give them a call asking them AGAIN to stop and all I get is an "Okay, Bye." And I get hung up on. Very rude people.
Never used their service, and I never will. -
Thanks Craig for the great job you did in servicing our heat pump today.

Hit or miss with Orangutan. The past ten years of twice a year preventative maintenance/extended mfgr. warranty visits have been 50% sales calls from everything to duct cleaning to wall and ceiling insulation. Sometimes they even sent along a separate salesperson on service calls that knows only how to sell related products, then canvass the neighborhood while the technician performs the service work.

Sammey replaced my capacitor and surge protector without any problems. Please send him back next time.

First of all they are way too expensive then they put a huge heater next to my water heater so I couldnt get water heater out of closet. Then they will call you like telamarketers to get unit serviced even when you cancel service

It's the employees that bring me back all of them are absolutely wonderful only one time have I come acrossed a very nasty person and that was in grooming. Otherwise PetSmart is mine place to shop for all of my dog's needs. Oh did I mention they have some Conga sales periodically. I really love PetSmart

Scammers. They sold me an air conditioner 5 years ago. Today I find out it is 8 years old. They sold me a 3 year old air conditioner as new. Stay away from them

John, from Phoenix, was the tech which came the same day as we called. He trouble shot the 12V wiring found a short. John was great. Good asset for Orangutan.
Thanks -
American Homesheild sent me a message saying they were sending these people to my house. I looked them Orangutan Home Services has ALL ZERO TO 1 STAR REVIEWS !!!! Bad service no show appointments.
I sent a request to
CHOOSE ANOTHER COMPANY! Thank you all for your helpful reviews -
Pathetic service. Would give negative stars if I could. They use their maintenance plan customers to fit their needs and their schedules and cancel at their own whim, then make you fit their schedule even when they've backed out on you last minute. Rude and aggressive, even arrogant, customer "service" that should send any reasonable person looking elsewhere even for mediocre service which would be a HUGE improvement.

My 89 year dad has (or rather had) a service contract with American Home Services (?) when he had his AC/Furnace installed 11 years ago. Then twice a year he had maintenance done. American Home Maintenance became Orangutan Home Services some years back. When the first monsoon rolled into Tucson on July 3, he experienced a close enough lightening strike to the house to wipe out his AC, all of comcast and his security system. So on July 4th, he called Orangutan and their AC repair person came out to the house, wired in a new thermostat but couldn't find the issue as to why the AC wouldn't turn on. There was a Honeywell control panel wired to the furnace that he thought belonged to the security system, thus wouldn't open the panel to see if any damage. That afternoon the security system people came out and stated that wasn't part of their system, it had to be for the AC system. Thus, my dad recalled the AC repair guy who said he would be at his house on Monday morning July 7th. So my 89 year old dad endured no AC in his home until then.. At least he thought there was a light at the end of the tunnel. So on the 7th, the AC repair guy saw the Honeywell control panel was indeed the issue. He went out to his air conditioned van to call Orangatan. 20 minutes later he returns and states that he couldn't get thru to order the part and that Orangatan's people will call to place the order. No call back to confirm about the part until the following day (the 8th) when he called to say Orangatan refused to order the part. At this time I called the phone number at Tempe AZ and was told the same thing. Taking a recommendation from my husband, I called Airco and they came out the next day (9th). They got the AC to work without the control panel in about 10 minutes and ordered the Honeywell control panel. The part came on Friday the 11th and the installer was done in 30 minutes. Orangutan was obviously incompetent. And they seemed to have no compassion for an elderly man without air conditioning. I shudder to think what other elderly people do without their family in town to help out.

So I purchased a 5 year maintenance plan for 2300 dollars for heating and cooling the first two years, each maintenance call had some item needed that ranged in price to 900 to 1700 dollar (which I paid) year 3 I called and scheduled numerous times with no shows. being infuriated I called and left 36 messages to speak with a senior manager, FINALLY they said they would be out to do the evaluation of my system in year 4 of the service agreement (they did not show up in year 3 at all) this month scheduled five times, finally the 5th time they were supposed to be here between 8 am and noon, at 4:14 pm the service techncian mike kerridan showed up and stated,"here for your AC." very matter of fact, to my amazement 32 minutes later he had serviced my two air conditioning units, looked and and not cleaned the filters (as contracted in my maintenance agreement) took a picture of one air vent in house and told me I needed to have my leaking ductwork replaced, and they would email me an estimate, he handed me a phone to sign my name on without a copy or ability to read what I was signing, when questioned he said, that's the way the company does it... so I would suggest RUN VERY FAR AWAY !!!!!!!!!!!
this is the worst customer service, very poor communication and a guy who would have made both of us happy if he just hadn't shown up than frustrate me more with very poor customer service and NO work done per the maintenance contract, at least others were able to be insulted with an estimate on the spot, I have to wait for mine via EMAIL, what a complete joke of a company! -
Rene did a fantastic job and would recommend him to anyone with plumbing issues as it only took him a very short time to resolve my issue
-
Ron and Reiner are great! Their knowledge, service and demeanor are excellent and Tucson is fortunate they are great A/C experts!

Completely unprofessional. My parents called because the unit wasn't cooling. The tech was speaking to my mother and didn't know I was in the house. He basically didn't want to check anything because he had "other customers without units working and yours reads 77 degrees so I don't see any problems." I came out and asked the price to troubleshoot the issue and how would having a maintenance crew come out, address the problem. He said he "would hope they would figure out what was wrong." Needless to say, we said thank you.

Craig Mohr was the technician that came to install a new air return grill. He is knowledgeable, pleasant, and quickly replace the broken fixture. He's a very good asset to your company.

Last Dec. I was told I needed a new heat pump. Since I'd had years of positive experiences with Orangutan, I went along and got a new unit in. When the weather started getting hotter, my unit started kicking out hot air instead of cooling all the time. It would cool four times, then heat, then cool, then heat. They've sent techs out five times, replaced the new Nest unit with a Honeywell, but nothing's worked. They won't go on the roof because they swear it's a thermostat problem. If you had a NEW thermostat and they replaced it with another NEW one, don't you think that would solve the problem? I called over a week ago and no one has come to fix this unit. After threatening to refer these people to the State Registrar of Contractors, they finally sent someone out who knew what he was doing and he actually found out that a couple of wires were upside down. He fixed it in a heartbeat 'cause he knew what he was doing. Why did it take so long for them to finally send someone who knew that up is up and down is down.

Incompetence on a colossal scale!
If it is your goal to meet every field employee working at Orangutan and go through 10 + appointments, guessing whether they will or will not show up, then you might want to choose a different company for your home repairs.
About a month ago our A/C unit was giving clear signs of dying and condensation was leaking inside the house doing some damage. After the new installation took place with two very nice young men, however at the end is where things got interesting. They informed us that the wrong unit was ordered which should have contained an internal air filter and that the condensation exit drain was lower than the position on the wall where the water flows outside the house. "No problem" they said as the unit is correctly sized for our home and someone would return Monday with an "in-wall" air filter bracket and also install a condensation pump for the water to flow through the existing plumbing that couldn't be change without tearing out the sheet rock in the garage wall. Great! Monday the appointment was set for 3-5PM for this work to take place. I work in Phoenix but live in Tucson and left work early to get home for them…no one shows up. Apologies all around, with another appointment set for Wednesday at the same time frame. On the same Monday afternoon we did however get a visit from an outside contractor that Orangutan uses for water damage restoration. I wasn’t home yet but my daughter was and this very forward gentleman spent some time asking her if she was single or dating anyone. As you can guess we didn’t move forward we that part of this project. Wednesday I worked from home this time, but alas they no-showed again. "Super sorry about that", we'll definitely have someone out Friday around the same time. Worthy of note is that during this entire time we had to empty buckets multiple times a day for water being collected in the garage. With great excitement our guy showed up Friday about 45 minutes late, and had the wrong air bracket and had no knowledge of anything related to a condensation pump. To his credit he told us "I will personally build you a temporary air filter until the correct one can ordered and install the pump tomorrow". He showed up Saturday later in the afternoon and installed the pump and temporary filter and he was on his way. One hour later the entire unit dies! By eight o'clock that evening it was ninety three degrees in the house.
We pack up everyone and go 30 minutes away to stay with family so as to escape being in a hot-house for the weekend and due to the fact that they can't get anyone out till Monday between 2-6PM. No response on Monday at 6PM and we are thinking great we got stood up again! Well at 6:30PM we got a call letting us know that our guy will be at the house at 7PM. We race home leaving everyone behind just in case something goes wrong again. Our 6th different new guy inspects the problem and says "the outside fuses are blown" replaces them and low and behold the units is back up and running. Hooray!!! We drive 30 minutes back to grab the family from exile with the thought of sleeping in our own beds in a cool house. When we get back to our eagerly anticipated frigid home we enter to find its 93 degrees AGAIN! I call their number and calmly but firmly tell them about our obvious displeasure. Very apologetic, but we will have someone out the next morning to fix it. When our 7th guy shows up he looks at the outside breaker box and says, "this new unit we installed requires a 60amp fuse box not a 30, it says so right here". He replaces the outside breaker box and finally we hope our nightmare is over. By the way we still have to wait for one more visit to get the correct filter bracket installed…we eagerly await meeting no doubt the 8th person at Orangutan.
