We absolutely love our pool, and would change nothing. Marc at Sundancer Pools was extremely helpful and patient with us as we navigated building our pool. We had many other contractors over to compare prices and logistics. Marc's prices were comparable, if not lower to others, but his demeanor won us over! That and the fact that he was just different than the other companies, letting us take our dream and run with it. After being told by other contractors that we had too much rock to put it where we wanted, and us not wanting to push it even further from the house, Marc came over and said we could absolutely try and move the pool around where needed. Did we hit rock, yes, we knew we would. Was it worth it? Yes! We are so happy we chose Sundancer Pools to build our pool. Marc was there every step of the way, making sure everything ran smoothly. From day one, his design ideas were great, we made some tweaks on the fly and he had no issue handling our modifications with great input on what would and would not make sense. He took the vision we had in our heads and somehow made it look even better in real life. He had solutions for things we didn’t even know were problems yet, and every recommendation he made ended up being the smarter, cleaner, long-term play. You can tell he’s been doing this for a long time and actually cares about how your space will look and function years from now, not just on photo day.

His team was awesome too. Super friendly, super professional, and shockingly efficient. They showed up when they said they would, worked hard, cleaned up, and kept the project moving. In true unicorn fashion, they even finished on time... something you don’t hear often in the world of big home projects.

But here’s the real test: how people act after they’re paid in full. That’s where Marc really separates himself from the pack. We had a couple small things pop up after completion, and instead of dragging his feet or ignoring calls like so many contractors do, Marc fixed everything quickly with zero drama. That alone made me a permanent Sundancer fan.

I recommended him to family which is always a little nerve wracking because if things go sideways, it gets awkward at the holidays but Marc and his crew delivered another home run over there too. It’s rare to find a contractor who makes you look good for referring them.

If you want a backyard that looks like a resort, a pool builder who actually communicates, and a team that does what they say they’re going to do, Sundancer Pools is a 10/10. Can’t recommend Marc and his crew enough.

UPDATE November 2025: As the season shifts from our hot SoCal summer to fall, I remain completely impressed and in awe of my pool. The heater with deep water returns keeps the pool at the perfect temperature, which is a testament to Robby and Team's design knowledge. I swim almost every day, sometimes more than once per day, and each swim is nothing less than perfection. On reflection of the process, I felt so listened to during the building of my pool, and Sundancer delivered my dream of a large, deep pool with a space to do all sorts of exercise. I couldn't be more happy! It IS perfect! Thank you so much!!

I interviewed eight or nine different pool contractors in San Diego County before calling Sundancer, and once I met Robby, I knew I had found the best pool builder match for me. Robby and his entire team delivered the pool of my dreams, and I couldn’t be happier! I especially appreciated Robby’s patience with my timeline prior to beginning the project and his detailed responses to each of my questions and concerns throughout the process. When issues did arise, as they invariably do, we had such good communication to resolve things quickly and easily (for both of us). I especially loved that my vision was honored. I am an artist, and I wanted something unique for my very first pool. Sundancer listened to me articulate my vision and helped to manage my expectations with their loads of experience. My pool design came from my desire to do laps, aerobics, and other workouts, and Sundancer helped to design every part of the pool to meet my desires – including the custom concrete diving platform installed so that I could do pull-ups from the water and the custom concrete patios with crystals, sea glass, and shell aggregate for a healing, balancing, and serene vibe. Working through the details of these specialized pool features was simply enjoyable. Communication with others can sometimes be difficult, but every ounce of communication with Robby, Shanyn, and the entire team was easy – they have the special quality of being good listeners, communicating with kindness and respect, and always keeping the goal of wanting me to be excited when my pool was done (which I am!). I have never had as good of an experience with any contractor ever. Sundancer knows pools, and working with them has been a joyful experience. Oh – and my pool was completed earlier than expected! Other vendors who do work on my property are all in awe of the pool and each have commented on how quickly the pool was completed – about three and a half months from date of signed contract until the pool was filled, which was a couple of weeks earlier than projected. Two weeks after that, I was swimming! Sundancer delivered my dream pool that I will enjoy for many years to come.

I had an emergency he came the very next day, fixed everything in no time, additionally to his professionalism he happens to be extremely nice and the work his extremely clean. Love the work, and hiring him in a weekly basis from now on. Highly recommend!!

Gilbert & team did a phenomenal job transforming the old, worn out landscape of our mission revival North Park home in a historically designated district. Keeping in taste of the Spanish style lot, he carefully reviewed my options, accompanied me to the nursery where we picked out all the plants I wanted. He and his team navigated the complexities of underground utilities, both marked and not marked, known and unknown, as well as came up with the best solution for lighting, drainage and new irrigation fit for the modern times (Wifi enabled). He also added in a patch of dog-friendly turf with multiple drains in a previously unusable side area that was a collection of weeds, dirt and poor drainage. Highly recommend him for any project, big or small!

Gilbert is knowledgeable, creative, professional and trustworthy. He does what he says he will do when he says he will. He landscaped the main house yard( front and back) and built a brick patio and walkway for the ADU. We were very pleased with everything he did : drainage and irritation system, turf, all new trees and plants, rock garden in front yard. We recommend him highly.

Gus and Tony and their team did a fantastic job on an outside remodel for our beautiful home in Poway CA. Gabrielle was great at drafting a plan and listening to what we wanted and Gus and Tony were spectacular with the bug picture and the details Full project, cement, planters, lighting, irrigation, artificial turf, etc. Everyone would be impressed if they could see how beautiful the outside landscaping and entertaining areas are!

Rivers Landscaping did an outstanding job on our major backyard renovation! Excellent communication, quality of work, and even beat the projected timeline. No concerns, just so pleased with the process and results.

DO NOT HIRE RIVERS LANDSCAPE! RIVERS IS NOT A REPUTABLE CONTRACTOR. THEY LIE AND DID A POOR QUALITY JOB THAT HAS LEFT US WITH STRESS AND A BACKYARD THAT IS LITERALLY BREAKING APART. Rivers installed concrete that began to bubble and pop. The popped and damaged concrete has now created craters throughout our backyard. The backyard is filled with more and more craters that have been popping up every year. Rivers gave empty promises that they would replace the concrete, but are now refusing to do it. Workmanship is poor which is evident in the cheap and poor quality materials they used in our backyard.The damage is so bad that it is a safety hazard to our children.

I highly recommend this company. My husband and I interviewed a few companies before deciding on River’s Landscaping. We could not be happier with our decision. Alex, the landscape designer, was so helpful in creating the perfect backyard landscape design. He was patient with my questions and so knowledgeable about the most appropriate design to suit my family needs. Tony, our site manager, was also such a wonderful person to work with. He and his crew were always on time, responsiveness to all of our questions and so very knowledgeable about the best options for our backyard. I never felt like I did not know what the next step would be in completing the project and all of my phone calls/emails/text messages had a response in a very timely manner. Please take this review seriously because I plan to share this company with anyone and everyone willing to listen. I am so thankful for such a hardworking, honest, competent group of people to have taken on this project. The end result is beyond my expectations and quite honestly priceless!

We had Rivers upgrade our back yard with a custom designed planter, upgraded patio, hot-yub foundation, and BBQ station a few years ago. They were great to work with. Their experience in this kind of construction and their great work ethic really shone. On top of that, they are truly nice people and were open and helpful in every way.

The Rovers' work never fails to get compliments when we have people over. It's held up beautifully over the years. I would definitely use Rivers again!

We purchased a newly constructed home and decided to choose Rivers Landscape to perform our landscaping. Gabriel with Rivers Landscape was referred to me by a few of my friends that had used them. Gabriel was very friendly and professional throughout our entire landscape project. I was extremely happy with the landscape process from start to finish with Rivers. Both Gabriel and the landscape crew were GREAT to work with! Rivers and his crew have the experience that I had hoped for on my project. The crew did a lot of items I wouldn't have thought of needing to be done. The extra details the Rivers crew did on their own made the project run smooth all the way to the end. Tony and Gus were great to work with throughout! A fun group to have around the house for a few months :) I would definitely recommend these guys to my friends!

Rivers Landscape Construction caught my eye when they were constructing a patio cover in my neighborhood. They worked each day until complete and did an excellent job. I had a standard lattice patio structure and wanted a Lania, something my wife and I could enjoy as an extension from our home to the outside. I contacted Rivers Landscape for a quote and Gabriel returned my call. He came over and took pictures and listened to what we wanted. He developed a rendered 3d drawing of the design and a quote with all options to choose from. Once we made our decision, he made a schedule. Rivers Landscape crew was friendly and worked each day from demolition to cleanup completing the Lania ahead of schedule. The Lania turned out beautiful. They installed two flush mount heaters in the ceiling and dimming lights that warm the cool evenings here in San Diego. I spoke with other builders and Rivers Landscape was the right choice. I highly recommend you speak with them before making your choice, you won’t be disappointed. I want to say thanks to Gabriel, Gus, Carlos, and the rest of the Rivers Landscape crew, great job. Outstanding. We loved that they were a family business, with a personal touch. Workmanship was excellent, they were always on time, and they stayed in communication throughout the effort. They had a very reasonable price and never came back for more. I’d definitely recommend them!

We started the process of getting estimates for our backyard pool/landscaping project in April 2019. Gabriel from Rivers was one of the first landscape contractors we met and we immediately liked him and loved his complimentary 3D design of our pool and landscaping. We proceeded to get several other estimates and though some were slightly less expensive, we kept going back to Gabriel's design and detailed estimate. Fast forward to late July, we decided to go with Gabriel and also hired Black Rock Pools for the pool construction. They were a great team and we love our back yard now! We needed everything for our backyard, demolition, retaining walls, 2,800 square feet of pavers, 2 fire pits, irrigation, drainage, tree removals, plants, sod, trees, fences and lighting. They also remodeled our fireplace in our home and mounted the TV over our fireplace. Every worker was competent and respectful. They were on the job every day, always on time and though we had some miscommunication issues over the 3 month project, they always made things right until we were happy.

The best in the business! We hired Francisco to help with some landscaping - we needed some plants cleared to prepare for some new hedges to be planted. Francisco did such a great job that we decided to go with him for the whole project and he did an amazing job. From helping guide us in choosing the best plants for the hedge, to advising us on how to keep the cost in our budget & getting everything done quickly, professionally and with a smile, they were incredible. They did the planting, irrigation and even trimmed all of our plants for us. I will be hiring Francisco Landscaping for all of our landscaping from now on and urge you to do the same.
