HVAC reviews in Pleasanton, California

Western Heating & Cooling assisted us with replacing our furnace through a PG&E program. While there were some initial issues with the installation—specifically a missing and then faulty air pressure switch—these were eventually resolved. The technician, Jose, was professional, responsive, and helpful throughout that process.
This review is primarily about our experience with customer care. Unfortunately, it was quite difficult to get in touch with anyone. We understand that this may be a busy season, but despite leaving a voicemail, sending a text, and eventually an email, we only received a response after the email in the form of a phone call from Jose. The lack of communication and response was frustrating and disappointing, especially considering the nature of our concern.
The reason for our outreach was a new issue that arose with our AC. After hiring a separate technician, we were informed that there was a refrigerant leak, possibly in the AC coil or line set underneath the home. Since the AC coil had been removed during the furnace installation, the technician advised that we reach out to Western Heating & Cooling to check if any workmanship warranty might apply.
Jose did come by and confirmed that there is indeed a leak, but since it involves the AC, he was unable to perform any further work. As of now, we still have not received a response to our inquiry regarding warranty coverage or next steps. However, it appears that we are now responsible for covering the cost of repairs through another company.
We appreciated Jose’s professionalism, but the lack of follow-through from the customer service side leaves us hesitant to recommend Western Heating & Cooling without some caution. Reliable post-installation support is essential, and unfortunately, our experience fell short in that area. -
I recently had a furnace installed by Shalay, and I’m very satisfied with the overall experience. The installation was done professionally and efficiently, with great attention to detail.
Shalay showed up on time, explained the process clearly, and made sure everything was working perfectly before leaving. The system runs great, and the workmanship looks clean and well-organized.
I really appreciated the professionalism and communication throughout the job. I would definitely recommend Shalay to anyone looking for a reliable HVAC installer. -
Had our old Rheem water heater replaced with a new SANCO2 heat pump unit by technician Shalai from PCG LLC. Very professional work, clean copper piping, everything installed neatly and up to code. Shalai knew exactly what he was doing, explained the process and left the area clean. The new unit is way more energy efficient. Highly recommend Shalai and PCG LLC for water heater installations.

Just had a Mitsubishi AC system installed by these guys and the whole experience was excellent. They were professional from start to finish — showed up on time, worked efficiently, and the install quality is flawless. What really surprised me was the price — significantly better than the other estimates I received. If you need AC installation, don’t hesitate to call them.

Really happy with the job they did. The workmanship looked great, they were professional and easy to work with, and I appreciated how careful they were about keeping the house clean during the project. Overall, a very positive experience

Customer service is horrible. I live in an apartment complex and our ac has been out for two weeks in 90 degree weather and we have been trying to get it fixed One day they were supposed to come in and we were expecting them all day and they never came in so we asked our manager why they hadn’t come in and they said that they had knocked on the door and we didn’t answer when in reality we never heard the knock and we were always in the living room because that was where our fan was on and that’s how we kept cool so the manager rescheduled and finally they came in only to find out that we had to replace our ac entirely so we asked when would it be fixed and the man said that they would have to order it so he didn’t know when it would be officially fixed. A few days past and we asked our manager when they would fix her AC and she said “didn’t they already fix it” and we said no, they told us that they had to replace the entire unit, to which she responded “oh they never told me that” so she rescheduled it again today and I was here all day by myself and in these apartments we have thin walls in my room I can hear just about anything that goes on in the kitchen and even if the door knocks and again we never heard a knock and I open the door because I heard my doordasher knock to deliver my food and a card fell(the company card) and I called myself to see if I could reschedule and they lady who answered was rude

This guy is AMAZING!!!! It was going on midnight and no one was returning my calls. The twist is I am here on the east coast, just outside of Baltimore. I was terrified I've never heard any sounds like that in the 5 years i've lived in this apartment. I know nothing about furnaces, I mean NOTHING. I was soo scared, was this a fire hazard? was it leaking something poisionous?? The thought came to me "it's only 8:30pm on the west coast", Is there a chance a repair person in that nice state of California would be kind and listen to the noice from over the phone? I realized whoever I called might just hung up on me. Afterall, obviously I would not be resulting in a visit/sale, but I felt desperate. I randmoly pulled up google and saw Richard's Heating & Air repair, I thought this sounded like a company that would be big enough to know a lot and small enough to care. And I was right!!! Richard so generously took my call and expertly assessed my situation. He did seem intrigued by my cross country call, but he was not detered in the least to help me if he could. He must know these machines inside and out becasue even when I decribed things by calling them 'shoebox looking' or 'wiggly wire', he knew exactly what I was trying to decribe and then he'd lead me to the next wire or gadget to work on fixing the problem. He walked me through everything, my hands were shaking, but I could tell Richard was too good to fail! He was my hero!! A man who really knows his craft! We got to the bottom of the problem. It was not an emergancy yay. I will need to call a local repair service in the morning. You guys in California are so blessed to have this guy to fix your stuff! Richard,.If your business ever wants to relocate to Maryland I will recommend you to all my friends and family!!!!!! YOU A THE BEST!!! Thank you so much! Staci M. Glen Burnie Md.

I called to see if I could schedule an appointment for maintenance and inspection. I left a message with the office and Richard called me back within 15 minutes. He was helpful and got me scheduled quickly. I had made many phone calls to other service providers, he was the most prompt and helpful. Many still haven't called me back even hours later.

My family has observed a notable increase in the quality of the air since they cleaned our air ducts. The crew left no mess behind and acted professionally.

We heard of Richards through a referral on Nextdoor. Our ac system was not working properly, so called and made an appointment. They were available the next day between one and three, and showed up at 2:30. They touched base to say that they were on the way. Bonus! We have an old ac system , and were afraid that we would be pressured into buying something we didn’t want. When the technician arrived he was personable & professional . He found the issue and addressed it and we felt that it was a fair price. It turned out we needed a new capacitor and motor. He didn’t have the motor on hand , but checked with dispatching to see what his schedule was the next day and returned promptly with said motor. Again, after letting us know he was on the way. Kudos to Olim Toscano, the ac tech- a great employee!!!

Alex (the service manager at Richards) came to my house to troubleshoot my A/C. The compressor was shutting off in hot weather. He said that I needed to replace the compressor or install a new condenser unit and that either would remedy the problem. He replaced the compressor and charged us $1200. It did not fix the problem. Before he left my house, I asked what to do if I had a problem. He said that I wouldn’t because condensers last 10 years. When I called him back in to re-diagnose, he said that I would have to spray the coils with water whenever the compressor shuts off. Alex from Richards HVAC misdiagnosed the problem, charged me $1200 and left me in exactly the same spot I was to begin with. I understand that mistakes happen when diagnosing complicated HVAC systems, but the expense should be the business owner, not the customer.

Richard's did a great job replacing our two a/c and heating systems. Their price was very competitive. They were extremely professional, always on time, cleaned up after themselves, and explained what they were doing at all times.
We're very happy with their work. Dan both scoped the project and then lead the installation. We would definitely use them again. -
4 star for service. 1 star for disclosing the price upfront.
We had them come to inspect the furnace that was not working. They charge $129/visit whether it takes 2 hr or 5 mins. They gave me quote of $600 to fix control panel which Al did another day.
That was the great part.
7 days later I installed a WIFI thermostat and the heater stopped working. I went to the furnace and realized the furnace c wire was not connected. Did this and got power to thermostat, but suddenly the heater stopped. The control board went into 'standby' mode. I turned off the power and I asked them to come take a look. They said will charge $129 again, which was ok to me. They came and just had to turn on the system and somehow it started working. The system just needed a time to reset internally. They came and spent <10 more minutes to get the app connected to the thermostat and then charge my wife 179 to get the thermostat synced to the app. For a customer that had spent lot of money a week back they over charged for less than 10 mins of work for a repeat visit. I asked for detailed billing of those $179 charge and service rep Kaylan haven't even sent the invoice but made my wife pay the amount before leaving.
I will look for someone more reasonable and professional next time around. -
Very happy with the service! They were prompt, professional, and did a great job on ourSafeAir Cleaners BaySide.

I wasn’t sure if air duct cleaning was really necessary, but after seeing how much dust and lint they removed, I’m a believer. Our allergies have improved, and the home just feels cleaner. The crew was professional, worked efficiently, and didn’t leave a trace behind. They also cleaned our dryer vent as a bonus, which was a nice touch.
-
The service was excellent from start to finish. I booked a dryer vent cleaning after smelling something odd coming from the laundry area. The technician arrived promptly and was extremely knowledgeable he found a blockage right near the exhaust vent and removed a ton of compacted lint. He even checked the dryer hose and gave it a quick tune-up. Since the visit, the smell is gone, and the dryer’s performance has noticeably improved. This company clearly cares about doing a thorough job.!!

The technicians arrived on time, walked us through the entire process, and explained why deep cleaning was necessary. They found dust buildup in the furnace blower and debris clogging the main trunk lines. After they finished, our HVAC system ran so much quieter and more efficiently. The air quality is noticeably better, and we feel like we’re breathing cleaner air throughout the house.
