My elderly neighbor who is a retired teacher living off social security and a pension called me in tears after Genteel plumbing came to fix a leak under her bathtub and told her it would cost $16,000 because they needed to replace 10 feet of old iron pipe. Then they opened the wall and told her she needed to replace another 20 feet of old iron pipe and that the bill would be $43,000. They said it would take about 3 days, so $14,000 PER DAY. My neighbor was preparing to ask the bank for a loan. I asked Genteel to stop work. I got a second estimate for her from Infinity plumbing for $4600. $4,600 vs $43,000. I told a contractor about Genteel's estimate, and he was so outraged that he came in and did the proposed work plus redoing the pipes under two sinks and a toilet, plus replacing about 30 feet of old iron pipe that was rusting on the outside of the building, in two days and at cost for $3000. I offered to pay the Genteel bill for replacing the bathtub waste and overflow. The bill is $3600. I was told it should have been somewhere between $600-$900.

Their careless, reckless driver hit my car and the company is not responding to the insurance's call and email. It's been almost a week and still hear nothing from them.

They explained everything clearly and really knew what they were doing. The service was quick, the team was super organized and clean, and they left my house spotless. The work turned out excellent. Highly recommend! I've already hired them for more projects I need done around the house.

I regret to say I would not recommend this establishment due to my recent disappointing experience. While I had used their services years ago and initially returned based on that, this time was a different story — marked by price gouging, poor communication, and a lack of professional transparency.

From the start, the pricing was excessive. The recommended work was over-measured, and the cost of both materials and labor was significantly inflated. I compared their prices with several other businesses in the same industry and region, and the difference was substantial — well beyond what’s reasonable.

To make matters worse, the scheduling was vague and unreliable. I was told someone would return in under an hour, but they didn’t come back for six hours, with no updates or communication in between. When I called to cancel, it became clear their internal systems and team do not communicate effectively, leaving clients in the dark.

What was most unsettling was the explanation I received about the pricing. Before presenting the check, the technician felt the need to explain a “tariff situation” — for an item made in the USA — which felt like an excuse rather than a valid justification. Even worse, there was a subtle yet condescending tone, implying that as a female business owner, I might not fully understand the details. This experience felt patronizing and chauvinistic.

In today’s world, information is widely accessible, and I had done extensive research. It’s disappointing to see that women are still being underestimated or unfairly charged under the assumption of limited knowledge. That is not just unethical — it’s unacceptable.

Based on my experience, this business lacks integrity in both pricing and treatment of customers. I would strongly advise others to look elsewhere, especially those who value professionalism, transparency, and mutual respect.

Prompt service and the plumber was knowledgeable, helpful, cared for his surroundings and also followed through.

Genteel Plumbers replaced two outdoor spigots. They responded same day, only took half hour and we have nice, new spigots. Reasonably priced and friendly service.Old fixture on left, new on right. Highly recommend.

AMAZING service from Joe for a RUSH hot water heater and PRV/Main install. Joe and The whole team turned it around in about 6 hours from the time I called. THRILLED.

Had a huge project that was overwhelming. I had no idea where to start with a remodel that needed all new plumbing. As soon as I spoke to Genteel I felt at ease. Communication was amazing from getting a quote all the way through completion. I think this is huge and Genteel definitely spend the extra time answering all the questions I had. They also do a good job staying on schedule and setting realistic expectations. We reviewed what needed to be done and he recommended some updates to existing conditions. He explained what needed to be done and completed them all to my satisfaction. Joan Leyva did a great job in replacing our old water heater with a new Genteel water heater. He was very professional and very informative. He broke down the water heater prices and even explained thoroughly the different warranties they offer. We were very pleased with his service.
