I was happy with the service Genteel Plumber provided. They answered my call and sent a plumber over the next morning. Joey was professional, took the time to explain the issue and options to address it. He patiently answered all of my questions, and most importantly, fixed the problem that was causing flooding in my house.

We hired Genteel to clear a bathroom sink on 11/16/25. They showed up on time and detailed the problem in a written estimate. The work was done on that day. Pictures were sent of the before and after work. Would recommend their services for any plumbing needs.

Genteel plumbers was fantastic - very well organized - scheduling service was quick and easy. Communication great - they sent photos of the service techs! Joan and Daniel were terrific - Genteel is not the cheapest but they deliver high quality service - my water heater was installed by Daniel within an hour.

We called Genteel Plumbers out for our clogged toilet and backed up shower drain (Main drain issues). While at first my wife made the initial phone call, she was greeted with Ai on the other end, it was surprising responsive and got our details down. When a technician, Joan finally reached, out, it was before our booked time (Which was going to be much later in the afternoon). So this made it our experience even better!

Joan was courteous, well informed. Once we agreed on the invoice job, he got straight to work. He brought in another technician, Danny to assist him. The whole process maybe lasted just over an hour or so. They were thorough, happy to answer all of my questions, but important, was able to unclog my toilet and shower drain. It was a no stress experience!

Genteel, does promote themselves as more premium in their pricing, but they are willing to work you on that front. Most importantly, they have what it takes to fix our plumbing needs.

Called Genteel for a clogged shower drain and Jo and Graham were able to come the same day. They assessed the situation and very quickly came back with 3 options and quotes for each. The clog was more stubborn than anticipated so they reassessed and came back with 2 more options to replace a section of pipe where the obstruction was located. I had a toilet that was not flushing and filling properly. Technician Joan Leyva diagnosed the issue and gave me a few options to repair or replace the toilet. After choosing to replace, Joan & his assistant completed the work efficiently, and to my satistaction. The cost was more than I expected, but the piece of mind hopefully outweighs that.

Genteel is our Go To plumbing service! Always responsive, easy to schedule, great customer service and quality work. We just had them return to clean out a clogged french drain system before expected rains - they cleaned out my whole system and now we have peace of mind.

I had an excellent experience with Genteel plumbers and wanted to share the story: There was a mystery leak in my house: water was leaking through a hole in the basement ceiling through which gas pipe passed. Clearly, the gas pipe itself could not be leaking water, so the water could be coming from literally anywhere above in the entire multistory house! This is a really bad mystery to have because the total ambiguity of the source could mean a lot of chopping into walls without knowing where to look. Joan from Genteel approached the situation like a real detective or scientist, proposing various experiments (that I never would have thought of) and noticing tiny details that could be relevant, all without resorting to cutting open my walls or ceiling. To my amazement, he narrowed down the issue all through these experiments and without having to cut into anything. In particular, he noticed a tiny detail (a missing seal on the side bottom of a swinging shower door) and hypothesized the water might be slipping through that crack onto the bathroom floor outside the shower, pooling, and then trickling down through a tiny crevice in the floor. So we ran an experiment and he turned out correct! So the mystery was solved without any damage to the house at all! Then to my total surprise when he was leaving he did not charge me despite 90 minutes of detective work. He said that it was just done to prepare an estimate (to make an estimate in case work was needed) but that because no actual plumbing work ended up needed, there was nothing to charge for. In the end he saved me untold time, expense, and inconvenience, all for no charge at all! And as a result he earned one thing from me I rarely feel towards service providers: trust.

Genteel plumbers consistently comes through for me, and Ive been so impressed with their customer service. 5 years ago they installed a new water heater when my old one leaked, and they did so immediately so I wouldnt be without hot water. Every year since they come by for free to flush the water tank to keep up the maintenance. Recently, the water heater gave me an error code which I was able to resolve with some tinkering. When I called them, they offered to replace the water heater for a brand new one, at no cost. Just to be safe. I feel like Ive gotten so much value out of choosing Genteel plumbers, and working with them continues to pay off in great service.

I recently had a clog issue in my kitchen sink and called Genteel Plumbers to come in to fix the issue. The assigned Technician, Daniel, is super nice and professional. He tried several equipment and worked on it for 2 hours, and finally removed the clog. We are very happy with the service quality.

Response time =Excellent. Joe performed an inspection of our old toilet and made a cogent recommendation. He clearly explained our options and pricing of the toilet plus possible warranties. We were leaving on vacation the next day (9/3/2025) and didn’t want another toilet flood. Earlier this summer we had one while we were on vacation. Ended a working toilet. The one replaced was 12 years old and almost overflowed after a flush in the morning. Turned off the water to the toilet before it did. Tried plunging with partial success and decided to call in a plumber. Genteel had good YELP ratings and looked to be in the neighborhood on Irving Street . Though we found out later that may have been an old address. No matter.
The handoff from Joe to Daniel, who performed the install, was seamless. Both were very professional and a pleasure to work with. Both were good active listeners and answered our questions well. If we have a plumbing issues, I would NOT HESITATE to call Genteel. I would not hesitate to recommend this business. One other thing that struck me was how good the virtual assistant was. I’ m getting close to the “get off my lawn” stage ( @ 67 years old) in life. To date I have not been a fan of virtual assistants whatsoever. Whatever technology Genteel invested in, it is head and shoulders above any other virtual assistant I have dealt with. I didn’t have to scream “CUSTOMER SERVICE” into the phone several times to talk to a person and not a robot. Very human like. And GOOD INCLUDING FOLLOWUP. As a self identifying neo-Luddite, I was impressed.

Genteel Plumbers always does a great job. They are never the cheapest option, but I feel very confident that the work that they do is solid and usually includes some sort of a warranty. They are excellent about communicating along the way and the technicians are always friendly and seem very very capable.

Edgar was great. He came out quickly and was very knowledgeable, considerate, and thorough. It was an expensive repair, but he did a great job explaining the nuances and outcomes and he went above and beyond to do the job right. Would definitely recommend!

Way overpriced. I needed earthquake valves and a water meter installed and it took a few hours, but was insanely expensive. I’ve stopped using Genteel after this experience. The work was fine, but I felt gouged enough to write this review and do more competitive bidding for all projects.

I had a great experience with Genteel. We had a major water loss event at our home and Jo from Genteel was super helpful. He was diligent in locating the issue and resolving the leak, in addition to making some changes that would prevent further issues. He was patient with my questions, made recommendations without any pressure, and handled my home with care.
