The two gentlemen that came out and installed a new water heater were so professional friendly and fast they even gave us a 10% new customer discount which we really appreciated we would definitely use them again and I will prefer my friends and family

I wanted to say thanks to Chris (manager) and Carlos (technician) for giving me options when purchasing the water heater. They handle customer service well and are not the typical pushy salesmen.

Installer was very respectful.took time to explain my options. Worked in a timely manner and restored everything he had to move to install the new water heater. A real asset to the company.

Technician came by and diagnosed problem with FV sensor. Quoted parts and labor as $700. Wanted me to sign a form without looking. When I started scrutinizing how that price was broken down, I wasn't given a straight answer and suddenly their system was done and couldn't be rung up via card, wanted me to cut a check.

Found the part online for $50 and can get it replaced for like $200 in labor. Everyone else I was talking to provided quotes in the $300-500 total for parts/labor. Dudes will try to rip you off.

Could not be happier! Called this morning at 9, and have a brand new fully loaded setup at noon! Come on who does that anymore? Professional staff came out gave me an estimate of all the different options. I choose the gold package he explained how the job would go. He left his work area better than he found it and hot water!

Max was on time both on the initial estimate call and on the install call. All work was complete within 2 days of my initial call. Max did and excellent job of laying out the options and discussing pros and cons. Excellent service, good quality work and equipment, fast, friendly and courteous. Would highly recommend.

Our water heater stopped working, so I got the repair service from Payless (Sunnyvale) through my home warranty company. The technician was Fahad Patel. He did come on time as was given by the office. Fahad was courteous, professional and knowledgeable. I'd recommend Payless and Fahad to anyone looking for a professional work to resolve their water heater issues.

Yesterday my Home Warranty company sent Payless Water heater serviceman to fix my 50 gallon AO Smith Water heater. Service man was very courteous and well behaved., took some pictures of water heater but didn't even touch the heater ! Or try to figure out what the issue was with the water heater. I asked him several times to see if the Pilot flame was on or the Ignition was faulty. He kept talking about how old the heater was and I should look at replacing it. Finally made few phone calls and then said he is not authorised to work on AO Smith brand of water heaters!!
My advice to Payless team - please try to help people out first then try to sell them your product or service !
Today, I talked to AO Smith, on phone showed them couple of pictures of the Control panel and was told that Control Valve is bad and needs to be replaced. Water heater is still in very good condition - was able to do all over phone by sending pictures to the technical team of AO Smith

Beware, this appears to be a large call center + contractor operation masquerading as a "local family owned business." I took off today to be here for their two hour service window (I actually gave them 2.5 hours). They called to say they'd be a little late, then called to say that they don't have the parts I requested and can't arrive anyway. This sometimes happens. But their absolute lack of contrition or any sort of apology is what makes me question their local roots and quality.

Was very easy to set an appointment, get a quote and install. They had a tank in the truck ready to install the day of the appointment, was inished quickly and they installed it very well.

All up to code and looks great. Been running now for a few months and it has been flawless. Quieter than my old one and seems to be more efficient as well. Gas bill dropped a bit.

I was told I was being ripped off. I requested a free estimate but instead this guy showed up and looked at my water heater and said I needed a new one. I kept asking how much was the water heater. He said it's $2000 in total!! I said oh wow, that's expensive. He said the water heater is $1000 and labor is $1000. He did the work for only 2 hours or less. I said I could find a water heater for 500. he said his is more better quality. But 1000 bucks for labor??? He left a huge mess in the garage with mud and footprints all over!

Joey O came to install a new water heater. He was very knowledgeable, professional, hard working and polite. He is a good representative of your company. I would not hesitate to refer a friend.

old water heater was sending electrical voltage over the water pipes, I had an electrician identify that it appeared to be coming for the water heater .
I called Payless and explained the issues, Service Tech Joey O arrived within 2 hrs and immediately identified the problem , a terribly corroded heating element , which was shorting, He replaced the electric water heater with a lot of professionalism and keep me updated on his progress
Replacement unit is a American made Bradford and White .
very satisfied, even received a follow up call next day to insure thighs were OK

I am very pleased with the professionalism and the service I experienced with Payless Water Heater. A crew of 3 just removed the old monster (100 gallon hot water heater from the basement) as phase II of an emergency project that started on Tuesday when I found the water heater in a pool of water. Payless sent Donny the next day and he arrived on time and we decided the best way to go is to replace it with a tankless system. Donny came out with Chris and presented several ways to finance the system and we discussed an immediate installation schedule. The following day (Thursday) Donny came before 10am and worked all day to clamp and disconnect the old system and install new piping, electrical and mounted the heater on the side of the house. At different part of the day several other people came in to help since this was quite a large job. Carlos joined around 4pm and the two of them worked until about 8pm and restored hot water service. I was concerned that the old heater would be stranded in the basement but Donny came back with two other guys today and they did an amazing job to haul it out of the basement. It's an expensive system however It's a huge improvement ovver what we had and these technicians are very reliable and knowledgeable. I am more than pleased when they cleaned up the basement too!

Be careful when asking for a quote from this company. I got tricked by them. I asked clearly on Yelp for how much they charge to replace a thermocouple of the water heater, they replied with message and said “service fee $59 + part”. Then I scheduled an appointment with them and a guy came and said he will charge $59 consultation fee + $349 to replace the thermocouple (the part costs less than $10 at Home Depot)! I ended up paying the $59 fee to them, and got another company replaced the thermocouple for “service fee $150 included part”!

I've had a poor experience with Payless Water Heaters, and I definitely won't recommend. They are only into selling you a new water heater, not helping you to fix your water heater problem.

My water heater is not generating hot water, and the pilot would even go off, so I called around on Saturday. Payless was one of the companies that picked up the call and set an appointment for Sunday (credit to them). On Sunday morning they called me to give me a heads that the technician is coming. From then on, things start to go south.

The technician came, and took a quick look at the water heater. Without opening anything, he immediately told me that I need to replace my water heater, that mine has been out of its life time. The unit is 7.5 years old, and I thought all units should last 8-12 years. The technician insisted that replacing mine is the best option. (It turns out, as I later found out, my GE water heater has a 12 year expected life time marked on the body of the water heater). I asked the technician if he could try to fix it, he called the office, and came back with a quote of $599 (like you see on a sales tag). Obviously I'm not going to take that "offer". The technician spent some more time telling me how good the water heater brand they carried is, and said if I want they can install it right away since they carry it around in the van. I paid them $85 and let the technician go.

Here's the silver lining. I decided to do more research online, and learned that a common failure is the thermal couple that became insensitive, and is easy to replace by DIY. So a few more youtube videos, a visit to homedepot and 1hour later, I got my water heater working again. Cost? $11.84.

I picked Payless because of their stellar reviews, but it was a huge disappointment. They seem more interested in selling me a brand new water, and didn't even make a fair effort to look into my problem. I'd stay away from them for sure.

The other morning, we found our water Heater was leaking all over our garage & called Payless Water Heaters because they did our previous instillation. Pedro came out in less than one hour. We needed a new water heater. Pedro gave us our options & was never high pressured. He did a great job. We couldn't have asked for better service.

The service and professional conduct of everyone I met from initial phone call through estimate and the work itself was excellent. Honest estimate that was the final result was great. My only issue was the scheduling was a few hours behind where it was expected. Once the work started all was well and done with care and very great communications.
