Dave came to our house to replace our 23 year old water heater. He was very courteous, knowledgeable, thorough, respectful of the work place, and pleasant to deal with. Our three and a half year old son was able to sleep through the work, even though Dave had to bring everything up to current building codes. My son is a good sleeper, but still, that's impressive!

I found the price to be fair as well. Especially considering the quality of the work was high.

My old water heater needed to be replaced. I called several plumbers. After getting the runaround from my appliance warranty company, I called two plumbers that didn’t even bother to show up. I called Payless on a Saturday evening, and and they sent someone the next morning. Joe R. arrived on time, was courteous, professional, and replaced my old water heater quickly. He even cleaned up the dusty closet before installing the new one! THANK YOU Payless for saving the day!

Others would have sold me a new unit; he indicated I had another good 11-12 months to go, and suggested loud noises might be linked to adjacent furnace. My Company water heater start leaking of coarse on a Saturday midnight when I get alert from my alarm monitoring company since we have water leak device install and also find out water heater is out of warranty. I called Payless after checking on line. They set up the appt. for Monday 9-11, plumber Joey was at site on time . He give me few option to pick which will work for us, after picking my option Joey went left to pickup new water heater. He really did a good job for Installation, he cover the floor so it won’t get missy, he clean the area after installation , I would not hesitate to call them in the future. To the President/Owner: The best decision we made was dialing your 24/7 phone number when our water heater went south over the weekend. We called Home Depot, Lowes for starters and waited for return calls. No replies. Your staff is by far professional, courteous, knowledgeable and on time. In fact, your technician arrived sooner than expected. I would highly recommend your company!

Terrible! Payless water heater is a complete scam, I saw a sticker on my heater and I called them. They had to came over to looked at the heater model and quote, $699. I think $699 is too expensive for a ignition switch. Because I paid around $50-100 for a different property in LA couple years ago. (Funny! Name doesn't match fact)

Called office, Bryan said they would need 699 to repair the ignition switch and I said I am afraid I would not repair it then. They still want $59.99 even problem is not fixed. And Bryan hang up on me.

Couple mins later, I was trying to start it myself, and it was working.

So I fixed problem myself and I had to pay them $59.99, And I got hang up!🙃

So be prepare to got ripped off and not being respected if you choose to call them!

We called around and glad Payless responded to us. They dispatched Joseph R to help us to replace and install a new water heater. Joseph was knowledgeable and provided additional information on a variety of water heater options out there. It was super helpful. The service was thorough and he rerouted the overflown pipe to outside instead into our garage and add an overflown trade. Thanks Joseph.

Called Payless this morning when my water heater broke, they put me on schedule day of. Technicians were on time, quick, professional, and knowledgeable with a friendly attitude. They were able to diagnose the probablem immediately and had everything serviced and running again in under an hour. I'll definitely be calling Payless again next time I have water heater issues!

The office responded quickly for our water heater problem. David, the tech came on time, gave us diagnoses and presented options. David is very professional, communicative and got the job done right away. We are very happy with their service. Highly recommended.

Our water heater stopped working. The pilot would not work. I called several companies. Since the tank is 16 years old they said either it needs to be replaced or the part is hard to find.

Josh at Payless said they can fix it. So Mike came over and fixed for much less than anyone quoted me.

After a week of no hot water, We Called for our Water Heater Burner to be replaced, A Tech came out by the name of Chris and completely ignored what needed to be replaced and replaced something else that was working perfectly fine. Charged us full amount and left. Very same day, still no hot water and no contact from Chris when trying to re-reach him about his mistake. The following week, we call for another Service Tech to replace the right part, he then charges us AGAIN for the work that wasn't done correctly the previous call. Management only waived a $60 fee, and that's it. No consideration for poor work from a horrible tech.

If you are thinking about getting SCAMMED, please call these guys. Otherwise, take your money elsewhere, PLEASE! you will be better off there.

I was very impressed by the Payless Team. Each person I spoke with was professional. They listened to my issues, and clearly described what steps they would take to resolve my problem ... I had a water heater on its last leg and needed to be replaced ASAP.

The estimator arrived as promised, two options were discussed and then within an hour quoted—sent to me vial email with a PDF quote attachment. I asked for a third option, and received it within 30 minutes from my request.

I called early the next morning with my quote choice and the installer arrived before noon. I had a constant stream of text messages and emails communicating arrival times with a picture of the person I'd be meeting with or who would be doing the installation. The replacement went smoothly, taking about two hours. The installation was clean and installer was confident and courteous.

No surprises. A job well done!

Payless Water Heaters & Plumbing was very proactive in reaching out and setting things up. However, during our initial installation back in summer 2021, after consultation, the technician did not return on the second day for the actual installation. We did not hear from Payless until we called, and were told that he went on vacation. They did promptly send another technician out within a day or two. Fast forward to 5-6 months later, we started smelling gas in our garage, where the water heater was located. Payless was able to send someone out within 2 days, and no leaks were detected on the pipes. We were told that the valve was malfunctioning. This is the same brand of water heater we previously had for 16 years and had absolutely no issues with it. This newly installed water heater had issues within 6 months of installation by Payless. Although the repair was covered by warranty, this makes me concerned about whether this was an installation error by Payless.

Once I created my service request with my home warranty for a leaking water heater and no hot water issue, payless was able to assign Christopher Z the very next day. He was very professional and managed to get us a replacement and new water heater installed the following day. Very satisfied and happy with the job and service. Thank you Payless. Will recommend to my friends.

I called Payless to replace a busted water heater and they were able to come same day for an installation. The installer Max even drove from San Jose to Hayward and back to pick up the appropriate replacement heater. I'm writing this review as he is wrapping up my installation a little past 7pm. All other providers I called were not able to accommodate same day service. On top of that, Payless provided a competitive price as well. Highly recommended.

Not happy about the 1 job turning into multiple visits to fix.
They are nice people to talk to but not sure of the quality of their work.
1. Water heater was replaced but they did not replace or even mention about frozen valves that needed to be replaced (even at additional cost).
2. After replacing had no hot water that night. Pilot mechanism was faulty and took a second visit to replace.
3. Third visit was to replace the frozen valves (which should have been done on first visit) and I paid extra to replace my recirculating pump along with it.
4. The technician Joelle was supposed to leave my old pump per our discussion since it was still functioning (so I could save it as a spare). But he took it back to the shop and said that he forgot and would drop it off back to my house. I still have not received it.
5. Encountered a gas leak after they fixed and had to call PG&E to investigate. Turns out that gas piping that Payless had installed was leaking. Took a fourth visit to redo gas piping to fix leak. We had to leave heater off and windows open in garage to avoid gas build up.
6. The new pump they installed is now making unusual noises and Payless will come back again a fifth time to investigate.

Obviously I am not happy about the competency and service.

Good news is that they are courteous on the phone and are not abandoning us. Hopefully they will fix the new recirculating pump and return my old pump as promised.
I will update review as things progress.

Joey O replaced our old water heater with a tankless water heater. He was very polite, professional, and got the job done quickly and accurately. We are very pleased that we will now have unlimited hot water; our old water heater would just barely get warm at times. Every time I called their office someone always picked up the phone right away and were very helpful. Bryan helped get this whole installation scheduled and he was extremely helpful answering any questions and ensuring everything would go smoothly. I will be recommending Payless Water Heaters to my friends and family, and I plan to contact them in the future for a whole house water conditioner.

Great service! The plumber showed up on time and did a good job. They swiftly figured out what was wrong and fixed it the right way. The job was done on schedule, and the area was left clean.

They put in a trash disposal for us. The task was done fast and everything works well. I am really happy with the service.
