I’m happy to give a glowing review about Zen Renovations. Our bathroom renovation was our first big home renovation project and everyone at Zen made it pleasant and seamless. We are completely in love with our bathroom.

The big things that stood out for us were:
1) communication - they were always easy to get a hold of and they kept us informed every step of the way.
2) we felt very taken care of. Our toilet arrived from the supplier broken and they handled all the reordering and making sure everything got to our home in time and ready for each stage of the process.
3) the crew is so conscientious, friendly and talented. They made us feel at ease with having other people in our home and were even great with our dog.
4) any changes in plan that came up were thoroughly explained and they always had a solution that sometimes worked out even better than the original plan. It was tough with a small bathroom so the team had some great creative solutions.

We knew we wanted a vintage-esque aesthetic but didn't know the specifics. We made a pinterest board of things we liked and shared that with them plus our overall themes. From the project manager to the tile rep, Zen really helped guide us and offer suggestions and once we picked out the big things like the vanity everything fell into place from there. They also put photos of everything into a nice pdf so we could see it all together and envision it. Overall I'd say they are open to however much or little guidance you'd like with design.

Zen Renovations helped us plan and then carried out in 2021 a full kitchen-dining room remodel in our 1930s Cape Cod. The entire team, from the owner, project manager/designer, to the various trades and workers they managed, were professional, diligent, and considerate. We had a challenging problem with two load-bearing walls, one of which we wanted removed. Zen did the engineering analysis and replaced it with an LVL beam, resulting in a delightfully open and much larger space. They planned and executed in a timely manner even with supply-chain issues caused by the pandemic. We highly recommend Zen Renovations.

We had a great experience working with Kevin and his team at Zen Renovations to renovate the second floor of our house, including a bathroom. He understood our budget and helped us find options to keep to it. When the flooring I had selected wasn't in stock, he helped us come up with an even better solution. The work of everyone on the team was to a very high standard and incredibly thorough. Everything turned out better than we had hoped for.

The Zen Renovations team did a fantastic job remodeling our kitchen! Zen was very patient and responsive during the design process, and the project was completed on time and on budget. We lived in the house throughout the renovation, and the team was extremely respectful of our needs, made every effort to ensure our living space remained clean and dust free and followed all Covid protocols.

Zen Renovations did a wonderful job for us. We wanted to be able to have a view of our backyard from the kitchen. In order to accomplish this Zen Renovations redesigned our kitchen, removed part of the wall between the kitchen and the family room and put in a new kitchen island. As part of our home renewal they also installed a new LVP floor throughout the first floor of our house. We can’t say enough about the craftsmanship and professionalism of their crew. They did very complicated work of cutting and reinstalling our granite counter top and matching existing cabinets. Also they did the work within their timeframe of 3 weeks! We are very happy and highly recommend them.

The Zen Renovations team did a wonderful job with our first floor renovation from start to finish. Romi helped us turn our contradictory needs and wants into a design that we absolutely love. The construction team did excellent work quickly, with great communication throughout. We're extremely pleased with the result. Highly recommend.

Kevin and his team have done an amazing job in expanding our master bathroom - a very challenging task considering it's a 90+ year old home, with possibly 90 yo plumbing. More recently, Zen worked to renovate our dining and kitchen, which looks and feels like a whole new place. I would whole heartedly recommend Zen to help from vision to completion - they took care of all the details, were very neat and clean each night and asked for your thoughts on minute details that you personally didn't know to ask.

We just completed a project with Zen and couldn’t be happier. The team went above and beyond to help us design and execute a vision for our space. Throughout the project the team was quick to respond to questions. We couldn’t be happier with the outcome and hope to use Zen again for our next project.

Approaching a renovation project can be intimidating and overwhelming, but Zen quickly allayed that anxiety. The team at Zen navigated us through a large scale renovation of our mid-century rancher. The team completed high quality work, within our budget, and ahead of schedule. Throughout the process any questions or concerns we had were thoroughly and expeditiously addressed. We are extremely happy with the final result of the project and would be quick to recommend Zen to others.

Our recent unanticipated kitchen renovation was a result of damage from a leaking refrigerator. Zen Renovations was one of several firms we interviewed as we sought a team capable of not only restoring the room but updating all to a greater quality. They delivered! While the footprint of the room was unchanged, we replaced the existing Crystal cabinets with all new custom-painted Keyline inset, moved and replaced all appliances, and did minor structural changes. The work was scheduled in coordination with replacement of the damaged hardwood floor in the kitchen and refinishing the entire first level floors to match. From demo-day to using the kitchen was 4 weeks! The Zen team was extraordinary: design expertise, project management and scheduling the work to minimize household disruption, impeccable attention to detail from the skilled craftsman whom we conversed with by name, daily tidying so we could move freely in the house each evening and weekends. Communication and administrative aspects were easy – Kevin was available and responsive to any issues that came up. We are enjoying our beautiful kitchen and delight in the compliments we receive.

The team at Zen Construction are wonderful professionals from the first consultation to the final walk through. They are creative, considerate, and available to answer any question, no matter how small. When they ran into unexpected issues ( old house!) they came to me right away and worked with me to find solutions and alternatives within my budget. The crews were always on time, and worked through terrible weather to stay on schedule. I lived in the house during renovations and they were consistently considerate and left the worksite immaculate every evening. No detail was too small for their attention: the crew moved a heavy piece of furniture for me and then even “shimmed” it to be level in my ( old house) sloping floor. Cannot recommend Zen enough!

Planning a home improvement is both exciting and exhausting. It can also be overwhelming if you don’t have the right partner. I am happy I decided to work with Zen Renovations for my kitchen remodeling. As one cannot perfectly plan for any project, Zen Renovations staff are there to fill in the gaps. The crew are very quick to inform the me of any issues or changes that may be required based on new challenges. The staff made suggestions and worked with me to implement changes to keep the kitchen suitable to my needs and stay consistent with the original vision of the design.

Our kitchen/dining room renovation was completed in March 2025. The job involved breaking out approximately 10’ of the back wall of the house onto an existing back porch. The porch was then enclosed to create a new dining area which included a number of windows. The old kitchen was expanded into the former dining area and completely redone. We now have much more light and space and beautiful sight lines from the front of the house into the backyard. The project turned out beautifully, beyond our expectations. Besides doing excellent work, the people who work at Zen are very nice and trustworthy. The tone of the business is set from the top by the owner Kevin Harris. Our designer Romi was willing to work with us until we had a beautiful design. Thank you, Romi. Also, the head of the building crew, Marcio ensured that the work was done correctly. He could not leave the job until things were done right. Our project manager Peter kept the work schedule on time and was always willing to accommodate us when we asked for an adjustment or something extra to be added to the job. We highly recommend Zen Renovations and are thankful that they made our dream come true. We call it our Zenovation.

We can’t say enough good things about Zen – the patient and knowledgeable help with design; the meticulous quality of work; the responsiveness and communication of the staff; the ability to stick to a timeline; the calm and competent ability to solve unexpected problems; the efforts to protect the areas of our house not under construction; the congeniality of every team member. What should have been a stressful undertaking was smooth and even enjoyable. We are thrilled with our new kitchen and recommend Zen without hesitation.

Is it possible for nothing to go wrong during a renovation process? If you had asked me that before working with Zen Renovations, I would have said no, but here we are at the end of our renovation and even things that went "wrong" were dealt with in a way that didn't slow the process or create any more unrest.
We are thrilled with the support, process, and quality of our kitchen renovation. It's transformed our house and our living space in a way that improves our lives. Working with the team at Zen was a wonderful experience and we recommend them highly to anyone considering a renovation project.

We worked with Kevin and the team at Zen on a major renovation to our 1920s house, which added a second story with three bedrooms and a bath as well as a new roof, HVAC, siding, and structural work to the main part of the house. Throughout the project, the Zen team was professional, did amazing work, and was a pleasure to work with. Like any major project to an old house, there were some surprises along the way, but Kevin and the team did a good job of laying out various options and communicating the pros and cons of each path. Of all the new rooms in the house, everyone’s favorite seems to be the upstairs bathroom for the kids. The team did flawless work on the tiling, was solid with the plumbing, and framed out all of the nooks and towel bars to ensure strong backing. They added a skylight for good measure and separate spaces for the shower and a water closet. I would definitely recommend Zen for both smallish projects and large ones.

The Zen team renovated a bathroom that had very old plumbing and a few hidden conditions (a rotted joist) that are common in older DC homes. The communication about design choices, project schedule and required change orders was clear and timely. I work from home and have a toddler so they kept the house very clean throughout demo and construction. Most importantly, the quality of work is impressive and it is evident that each team member takes pride in their work and enjoys what they do. As an example, we wanted to maintain the historical charm of the bathroom - so rather than swap out the old non-functional bathroom door for a new modern one they found the same style of door at a salvage shop and restored it with a fresh coat of paint and functional doorknob and lock. This was above and beyond my expectations. We already hired Zen again for our next project.

We couldn't be happier or more satisfied with our new kitchen. Zen was amazing: they set out with a realistic appraisal, helped us develop a concept, drew up designs, connected us with vendors, planned and executed *on time* and with real progress reports and accommodations for our needs. Their teams were friendly and casual but very efficient (measure twice cut once). The planning was impeccable and the finish was amazing. The result is what we had hoped for and more. With just this small bit of remodeling, the entire ground floor of the house has opened up, and the kitchen is fun, for cooking or just being. Thank you Zen!

I’m currently working with Zen Renovations on a few projects in my home including a full bathroom and powder room renovation, a custom built in clothes closet, front porch tiling and a few other small tasks. The bathrooms are done and they are breathtaking! Every detail between communication back and forth, planning, design (Jennifer is beyond talented and has nailed my design style) and install the process has been smooth and seamless. We didn’t move out of our home during this project and the courteous team made it very easy and comfortable for us to be home while they work. They brought in experts for each phase of the job (plumbing, tiling, etc) and the quality shows! I’m grateful I found Zen Renovations and I would highly recommend them!

We worked with Zen to transform a condo from top to bottom, from a tired 80s rundown to a sparkling modern sleek beauty. The work involved taking out walls, floors, custom kitchen, custom baths, and a whole host of changes throughout. I am attaching some before and after pictures to provide a sense of scope. This was done during the pandemic and in a high rise, making it a complicated project. The Zen team was highly professional, resourceful and responsive, especially lead designer/manager Kristy and lead carpenter Christian.
