Three stars; the report: some good / some not so good. The repair was under warranty. The compressor on a 2 year and 11 month old refrigerator which was under a 3 year maintenance contract, died. (Whew!!) I called Sears warranty services and a local service company came out promptly and diagnosed the problem. The two missing stars is for the bumbling and bobbling in the supply chain to get a new compressor to me. It took just over three months to get the refrigerator back into service. The first compressor was delivered to the service company after about six weeks of waiting. It was the wrong model.
The remainder of the seven more weeks was spent waiting and calling Sears for help. It finally arrived. Obviously, we needed a refrigerator before 3 months elapsed. I purchased a new refrigerator as soon as the service company indicated that the compressor was not a stock item with Sears. (Good question: why not??) Ultimately, I have two refrigerators now. One 3 months old and one 3 years and 3 months old.
Yes, the repair was made about 10 days ago and all seems well, again.

I was scheduled for service between 8:00 am to 1:00 pm but the tech never showed. He called at 2:00 pm and told me he was running late and would be at my place by 4:00 pm. He didn't make that appointment either. I finally canceled and rescheduled for between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm the next day. Which meant I wasted the whole day waiting for the tech today and had to stay home all day waiting for the tech again the next day.

The reason I'm giving the rating of 3 in stead of 0 is because I was the tech arrived at my house at 08:30 the next morning. And I was very satisfied with the services he performed at that time. I will use this service again but I hope they can find a way to prevent no-shows in the future. Thanks.

    Polite gentlemen.
I was told I would get an estimate or report for my repair. I have called and been promised this report immediately. Nothing has been sent which means you essentially did a diagnosis collected the fee and gave me nothing in return,. I would like a diagnosis report or my money back.

Great service start to finish, my problem was resolved by a very competent, professional , Andre within 24 hours of my initial call. I would not hesitate to recommend Sears appliance repair service or call for any other additional appliance issues.

After the initial visit to assess the problem, I had to wait over 6 weeks until the refrigerator was finally repaired. Previous repair calls with Sears services have been completed within a week of the initial call. After the repair wires are hanging out of the unit where no wires were visible before. The tech was courteous, but the service was disappointing - not what I had come to expect from Sears, particularly with the expense of a service contract.

Buyer Beware: LG refrigerator Ice maker had stopped working: The tech worked very hard and came twice to diagnose, order new parts, then replace old parts with new. At first the ice maker seemed to be working and produced 1 batch of ice; however, after that it stopped working completely - no water going into the tray and no ice being produced. When I called for service they couldn't schedule the tech for 14 more days. I even called the tech on his phone and got no response to the message I left. So far I have paid $346 with no results and by the time the 3rd service call rolls around, it will be 3 1/2 weeks. Will not be using Sear's Home Maintenance again once they have finished the job.

The tech was competent and professional. The scheduling process was inflexible and insensitive to the customer's needs. We were made to wait for ten days without a refrigerator because they could not have the part delivered and the second visit scheduled any sooner. Sears was far more expensive than their local competition. I will not use them again.

The tech was cool and he explained the problem and installed the part very quick. He did a great job

Should get no stars today, but can’t post without one.

Recap of service fiasco with Sears home services appliance repair contracted through First American Home Warranty

After the initial claim for repair was issued an appointment text was received stating the appointment was for 7/3 between 8am & 5pm.

On June 30th the appointment was rescheduled for July 12th.
On July 2nd an appointment confirmation text for July 12th was received from Sears.
On July 5th received a voicemail and text from a 331 area code requesting information about the microwave. Pictures of the microwave and serial number label was texted to the 331 area code.
On July 6th received a text from the 331 area code that the parts were ordered.
On July 10th 3pm a text was sent to the 331 area code to confirm the appointment. No response received.
On July 10th at 7pm a text from Sear was received reminding of the July 12th appointment.
On July 11 at 10am a text was sent to the 331 area code asking if a time of arrival could be given. No response.
On July 11th at 8pm a text was received confirming the July 12th appointment between 8am & 5pm.
On July 12th at 8:30am a call from a 954 area code was received asking whether the microwave was freestanding or fixed above the oven. The caller was informed that it was fixed above the oven. The caller stated Sears had to find someone with equipment to do the repair. The caller was asked about the time of arrival and stated that someone would be there in the morning on July 12th.
On July 12th at 8:55am a TEXT WAS RECEIVED from Sears that THE APPOINTMENT WAS RESCHEDULED FOR JULY 13th BETWEEN 8am & 5pm!!!
ON JULY 12th at 8:58am A TEXT WAS RECEIVED FROM FIRST AMERICAN HOME WARRANTY THAT MY APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED FOR JULY 3rd!!!
On July 12th a text was received from Sears confirming the appointment for TODAY JULY 13th BETWEEN 8am & 5pm. TODAY IS JULY 12th!!!
On July 12th at 12:48pm a call from Sears 800# robocall confirming the appointment THEY rescheduled for July 13th.
On July 12th: 1 call was placed to the 331 area code for clarification and help. NO RESPONSE!
2 calls were made to the 954 area code. NO RESPONSE!
3 calls were made to the Sears 800# to try to get a representative for assistance. Only able
Cancel or make an appointment. No representative can be contacted!

It is inconceivable that a competent company would expect a customer to change their schedule and take time off, only to wait around for 8 hours for them to show up, AND DO IT ALL VIA TEXT MESSAGING!!!

The July 13th appointment was rescheduled for July 18th.

The question is “Will another fiasco be outlined again or will the services be provided with the correct equipment and the parts that were ordered on July 6th be available and be the correct parts.”

    Time will tell.

It was a simple issue - the fabric softener dispenser in the washer was not working. The technician claimed it needed a new part, for which we were charged, along with the charge for the service visit. The part arrived and was installed and the problem persists.

For the dryer, the sensor indicated the vent was clogged. The technician insisted the exhaust vent had to be cleared. The following day we hired Sears to do the job. They came out, charged $200+ and concluded the vent was NOT clogged. The following day, we used the dryer and the same sensor fault appeared.

Clearly, a waste of time and money.

The tech knew what he was doing when replacing the water filter housing, but when he put the filter cartridge in, I had to tell him how to turn and attach the cartridge "handle" so it would lock the filter in place. Everything is working appropriately now.
I was not happy, however, with the ambiguity regarding the cost of labor and how the minimum $95 service charge was supposedly applied to the labor costs. The tech gave me a price for labor of $219. which seemed outrageously high for this job, but then when he gave me the itemized receipt for the repair, it showed the $95 fee under labor costs as separate from the $124 labor charge for replacing the water filter housing. So it appears that the $95 fee didn't go towards reducing the cost of the labor for the repair as my work order confirmation form said it would. I called Sears Customer customer care solutions about this and the rep. said the receipt she had on her computer only showed the total $219 charge for labor not the separate charges that I had. She said that the $95 had been applied to the cost of labor, which would have even been higher without it. I had to take her word for that because there was nothing to indicate on my bill that the $95 was applied toward the labor or cost of the parts. I have been a loyal Sears customer for 25+ years and this is the first time that I wasn't satisfied with the answer and resolution to my question.

David proactively kept in touch prior to arrival to perform our service. He quickly diagnosed the issue and was able to quickly and effectively resolve the issue. David is kind and respectful!

Tech was a nice guy, but unprepared for the job...looked on his phone and called for instructions many times. SHAME ON SEARS for not better training their technicians. I could have watched YouTube on my own and saved $500 in LABOR. The issue was not resolved with my refrigerator following his visit. I called Sears back on this 1 HOUR!! after the tech left and they offered me an appointment 5 days from the original "repair". INEXCUSABLE AND UNACCEPTABLE!! Sears customer service is some of the worst I have ever seen. I will be disputing my OUTRAGEOUS labor charge, reporting this to the BBB and sharing Sears lack of care and service to everyone I can. This is unacceptable! Also, my new part comes with a 90 day warranty, but the original part had a 10 year warranty?? Seems a bit skewed....Are you installing used equipment? DO NOT waste my time replying with a standard “we’re sorry blah blah”. I want an real answer and explanation as to why this was handled so poorly!

UPDATE 6/12: My refrigerator has now been out of service for 24 days! I spent additional time contacting the Sears Social (WE DON'T) Care Team as they requested in their response. All of this to receive a lousy response claiming there is nothing they can do. WHY? It is evident they did not want this shared publicly, so I took the liberty to assist. I am now awaiting my 5th service visit, scheduled for June 17th. This is unacceptable! Also worth noting, my refrigerator is 3.5 years old and still "under warranty" Stay tuned...

On-time, high quality and ethically professional repair - great job. I had a tech from another company out the day prior - he proposed we needed an entire system replaced - I contacted SEARS - tech was on-time, right to the problem and fixed it in less than 30 minutes with parts from his truck. Wow - really great, especially in Florida where good service is rare and hard to find - we'll use SEARS again for certain.

My dryer has not worked since the beginning of December 2022. It is now February 22
, 2023 and the dryer still is not working after todays repair.

Between Sears cancelling appointments, rescheduling, parts being ordered, repairs being made and technician breaking parts, technician being rude it has been a nightmare! I have requested to speak with a manager several times and NO ONE calls.

I have an extended warranty. Why? It makes no difference. Representative states to give the technician one more chance. How many more chances?

    This is NOT acceptable!!!!

I am ready to get a lawyer involved.
Next date for technician is March 6,2023.

I was quoted 150 to replace a belt on my dryer. The part was 25, the job took maybe ten minutes, the bill was over 350. While the tech was nice, to crank the price up that much, and unexpectedly, was RIDICULOUS

This is the fourth service call in three weeks to fix my refrigerator. My refrigerator and freezer are over 80 degrees inside and I have been unable to use it at all for almost a month now. I had a service call scheduled for today and because the Sears rep who made the appointment, did so incorrectly, the technician is not coming today and the earliest they can reschedule is for July 1st. That means over a month with no working refrigerator and I have a Sears Master Protection Agreement. When the Sears rep made the appointment for today, they put on the order that there was a $75 diagnostic fee. After I received the confirmation, I called Sears right back (June 23rd) and advised the Sears rep that I have a Sears Master Protection Agreement and there are no diagnostic fees. The rep confirmed that I was covered by the agreement and said there would not be a charge and no need to worry about the repair order, it would be handled today. So today, I get a call from the repair tech and because my order reflects a charge (does not show the master services agreement), the tech will not come to my home to repair the refrigerator and now I had to call three different numbers to re-book for the earliest available visit of July 1st. I am beyond angry at this point. The repair tech should have been here today or reschedule for tomorrow at the latest. Having a non-working refrigerator/freezer for this length of time is beyond ridiculous. I am an extremely unsatisfied customer.

If I could give them 0 stars, I would. This is terrible service — the warranty service is a ripoff!!!

My AC isn’t working, and the heat has been through the roof. It’s been unbearable.

We’ve been paying for the warranty service every month, for FOUR YEARS — so I thought we’d get help to resolve this emergency!!

I called Thursday and was given today, Monday, August 8th as the earliest appointment available.

At the LAST minute, they just emailed me to reschedule for tomorrow.

I am beyond disappointed and am requesting a refund of everything I have ever paid for this service.

This is deplorable and unfair. Why have I been paying $69 every month when they’re not even showing up when they said they would??Unacceptable practice from a used-to-be-trusted brand!!!

Even worse, I was asked to pay an additional $100 on my credit card!!!!

Please do not waste your time and your money!! Avoid at all costs.

Mr. Garth was a great technician. He was professional, knowledgeable, and answered all of my questions blessed to have him come to my home.

Our refrigerator stopped cooling and we called for repair since this is where we purchased the appliance before they closed their stores. The technician arrived as scheduled and was courteous. He diagnosed as a fan issue. The part was ordered along with the icemaker that had been broken less than 2 years after we purchased. We were told it would be 6-7 days before the parts arrived.

4 days later we received the fan part, but only an email notification that the icemaker was backordered. Cut to 4 weeks of waiting for a backordered part that never arrived. The second trip for repair was cancelled by the Sears automated system because it knows we had not received the part. I had to plead with the overseas customer service person to send someone to fix.

The end of that week the second technician, also courteous, came and said the diagnosis was incorrect and the motherboard was fried, so we had to buy a new refrigerator after all. We were told we would be refunded everything except for the $99 initial service fee. That was 4 weeks ago. After the first 3 weeks of waiting I called customer service and they informed me that I was supposed to initiate the refund request, but they did that for me and was told I would be contacted within 72 hours. No contact.

Today I call and they said it takes 14 days for the refund to take place. I'm sure I'll be calling them again next week when the refund doesn't come.

Zero stars. Good luck getting hold of someone on the phone.

David called to provide his estimated arrival window. He arrived in the earlier part of the scheduled window which was a plus for me. He was professionally dressed, neat appearance and had all of the tools to complete both scheduled jobs. My washer needed all four suspensions replaced and the dryer was a routine maintenance. He worked effectively and efficiently and just like that both jobs were completed. Just as neatly as he rolled in he neatly rolled out leaving my laundry room tidy. He thanked me for being a valued Sears customer and was off. Thank you David! Thanks Sears! P.S. - I purchased the 5yr. plan at the time of purchase (Kenmore Washer & Dryer) before the closing of Searstown in Fort Lauderdale, FL. It was totally worth it.
