HVAC reviews in Jacksonville, Florida

There's nothing like a weekend emergency to test an HVAC provider... and David Gray came through for us like a champ. Hamid was at our door within 30 minutes of our call and identified the problem and its location in no time-- not often an easy thing with tracking down a short circuit. He had us fixed in about 20 minutes from there. Our Comfort Club benefits made it a very affordable repair. Thanks for the rescue, guys!

Since getting the air conditioner replaced we have had issues and still have not got the door we where promised after the air conditioner leaked everywhere :/ gave them multiple chances to return calls and were told we were gonna get a door. And fix a few other small details ,now the Thermostat is saying 71 and I have it set to 69 and it’s not even hot outside and she’s just running constantly. I am sad to say that I regret buying from them. They have been nice and act as thou they understand but still we get left on the back burner .

We had a really great experience with Aaron from David Gray. Our AC completely stopped blowing and we were put on the emergency list. He showed up around 7pm and was able to have everything up and running for us so we could sleep with some cool air flowing. Aaron was very pleasant and thorough!

Thank you to David Gray a/c & electric for sending your kind, knowledgeable, experienced technician to look at my a/c. This company is so very honest and transparent.! The customer care employees are knowledgeable and professional . I received text to show me who would be coming to my door, calls and texts to let me know ETA. The technician talked to me respectfully and showed me the aspects of why my a/c was not working. The costs were upfront and fair for the knowledge, work and experience of the technician as he showed while he was here. I would recommend this company above all I’ve dealt with to try to deal with my cooling problem. I highly recommend this company. You all are the BEST!

After two separate A/C companies diagnosed our compressor as being broken and unrepairable, I decided to schedule A/C replacement estimates with four different companies. I was disappointed as our unit was under 9 yrs old and we are light users.
When Elliott from David Gray Heating & Air came out to give an estimate, he was the only salesperson to ask very detailed questions about our compressor. He was also the only one who asked to give a thorough inspection of every component of our A/C compressor and air handler. Keep in mind that checking to see if our compressor was in fact repairable was completely out of his best interest as sales people want to sell new units. But Elliott really cared about exploring all possibilities and determining what was best for us. His investigation showed true integrity and that he had our best interest in mind.
After thoroughly inspecting and testing our compressor, he believed our compressor perhaps only needed a new A/C compressor wiring harness....or basically a new power cord to the compressor. Because he didn't have a cord with him, I scheduled for a technician to come out a few days later.
Tanner was our technician, and he was also the utmost professional. After replacing our A/C wiring harness, our compressor was up and running perfectly according to the test data! Tanner also recommended I replace a few other components to increase the longevity of our compressor, which I gladly agreed.
If it wasn't for Elliott's genuine care about what was best for us, we would have ended up unnecessarily replacing our entire AC system when in reality all we needed was basically a new power cord! Elliott has earned a lifelong customer as well as me recommending David Gray Heating and Air to everyone I come across. Elliott cared for us like family. -
Had to pay over 1600 to go to another company because David Gray doesn't clean coils. Used them for over10 years on 2 units and one technician didn't put back together properly. But they don't admit no wrong doing or compensate. Switched to Buehler.

Tanner and his apprentice did an outstanding job cleaning my HVAC ducts, blower unit and my dryer vent. He made sure I was completely satisfied with this job and that any questions I had were answered to my satisfaction.

Tanner and Aidan were excellent. I was told technicians would arrive between 8-12 and they got here around 8:45. I received two calls letting me know I was first in line, and then that they would be on the way. Both Tanner and Aidan were cheerful and friendly, and both of them were very knowledgeable. They answered all my questions and explained what they were doing and why they were doing things, so that I could better understand my system and what it needed. They were efficient in finding and fixing my problem and checked to make sure everything else would be fine once they left. Tanner also helped explain things that would help maintain my system and was knowledgeable about the maintenance plan they offer so I could review my options. I appreciated how helpful and kind they were and am very thankful that they got my A/C running again so quickly. Thank you!

Aaron Fitz was my technician on the AC, very knowledgeable very professional. He is a great addition to David Gray family five stars across the board Great guy to me in my experience, this guy is Top Flight!!!

Aaron Fritz came to my house today and he was fantastic. He was professional, kind, very efficient, and he fixed my issue. I would have him return anytime. He took the time to explain to me exactly what was occurring in a way that made sense. 10/10!

Bryan M. Shared thorough information about the problem that I have with the air conditioning unit which will be repaired while he is here. He is very friendly, knowledgeable of his work, goes into great detail to explain everything that has done to the unit. I sincerely appreciate, his kindness and thoroughness of the information. He did a great job as a matter fact I’ll ask for him if needed for another job Brian only has three years of. You would think that he had a lot more because he was trained really well by another worker named Tanner. Tanner has excellent skills and it’s very kind of Tanner to share his experience and knowledge helping others!

My Air Conditioning System was serviced today by, Aaron, a technician from your company. This was my first time receiving service from David Grey Heating and Air and I am very well pleased with the service I received. This technician was excellent and gave exceptional service. He was courteous, very knowledgeable and fully explained my AC Problem. He should be commended on his performance today because it was outstanding.

I strongly recommend that no one ever call DAVID GRAY PLUMGING, ELECTRIC, and HEATING and AIR if their Air Conditioner breaks down.
My air conditioner recently broke down and DAVID GRAY gave me an estimate of $4,864.50 to repair it, and also recommended that I replace my AC unit, which would have been very expensive.
This is the estimate DAVID GRAY gave me to repair my AC.
The actual cost to repair my AC Unit was a fraction of DAVID GRAYs estimate and the repairs did not require a new 5 Ton Evaporator Coil or a new Junction Box.
Miscellaneous Repair Minor Repair - Level 1 $201.60
In Line Fuse Minor Repair - Level 1 $201.60
Splice Low Voltage Wire (Condenser)
add Junction Box $721.80
Contactor 1 Or 2 Pole Contactor $446.40
5 Ton Evaporator Coil (Carrier) $3,293.10
Total $4,864.50
So anyway I contacted a company my friend told me about and it had my unit up and running in approximately 1 hour.
The repairs to my unit required a new 2-Pole 40 Amp Contactor, and this part can be purchased for approximately $75 online, and misc. hardware like a fuse and some wire connectors and some insulation to cover up the wire repairs, and the labor consisted of replacing the Contactor and cutting and splicing 5 or 6 small copper wires together as the wiring insulation was worn away and likely shorted out the Contactor.
My AC is now up and has been running just fine for the past week.
So, the actual parts to repair my unit were likely in the ballpark of less than $100 dollars, and the labor took approximately 1 hour as the technician pretty much knew exactly what the problem was within a couple of minutes after repairing the wires.
I am not faulting the technician as even the best technicians get it wrong sometimes, but I am faulting DAVID GRAY. I informed DAVID GRAY what was done to fix my AC and ask them to return the $49.00 I paid them to look at and assess my AC as the repairs sighted in their estimate appears to be out of line with what was actually required to fix my AC unit.
So to me the least DAVID GRAY could have done is owned up to its out of line estimate and refund me the $49.00 I paid for the technician to come out to my house as DAVID GRAYs estimate was way in excess of what work was actually needed.
I emailed DAVID GRAY twice and asked them about a refund and they did not respond to my emails.
I will never be calling DAVID GRAY again for any type of repairs I might need in the future, and I would recommend no one else does either. -
Aaron Fitz was my tech for an air conditioner problem. He was efficient, courteous, professional and friendly and did an outstanding job. I will definitely call David Gray for any future A/C, plumbing or electrical issues.

Hamid provided excellent customer service, explained the problem and provided solutions. Very please with his professionalism.

Honestly one of the worst mistakes we made for our home renovation in 2024. The unit we received has had issues since day 1. It took 2 days to install the unit and multiple visits to figure out why it wasn’t cooling properly during the summer. The process was a headache when we purchased a new unit to eliminate the stress of dealing with our old unit. A manager lied and said he was coming out (he never returned our calls or texts). We followed up with another manager who sent out a senior technician, but he never personally followed up with us after dealing with issues for a month. A senior technician finally came out and found out that the installers had incorrectly installed the wires and the system wasn’t working properly. He also said we needed to have insulation added to an area in our bathroom (inaccurate assessment of what was actually causing the issue we experienced since the installation). We didn’t have any of these issues with our old unit. They were supposed to send someone back to fix a couple of areas in our ceiling that were broken by their technicians going into the attack and no one ever came back. Oh and during the install they threw away our brand new thermostat wall control. We only had it a couple of weeks. When I inquired where it was the technician said they threw it away. He said he would make sure we received a discount for the inconvenience. We never did.
Our bill is still increasing no matter what we do even though this specific unit is supposed to decrease our monthly energy bill. The unit runs “cool” even when it’s turned off. It blows out cold air when it’s on heat. The heat setting hardly ever turns off. We have to manually turn it off. I am not sure if the unit was installed incorrectly or it’s a faulty unit…. Either way it’s been an inconvenience to our comfort levels in our home and our pockets. -
I have been using David Gray for years and I have never had an issue with any technician. Bryan Cole is no exception. He assessed and rectified our issue in record time. David Gray has my highest recommendation.

Cindy is excellent.
In retrospect, the AC compressor failed a few hours after she left.
Will be requesting the logs from her maintenance and have them reviewed by an outside HVAC expert as I am being told by David Gray this is a "random" occurence in a less than 2 year old AC.
Also told that the Coils would not be cleaned on one of our other outdoor units this time, despite cleaning being something we explicitly pay for through a maintenance plan.
I hope they decide to make this right and replace the compressor, so I can return this to a five star rating. -
Dan came to my home to give me a quote for a new HVAC unit. I was not prepared to purchase a new HVAC at the time. Dan worked with me giving me confidence in the new unit and a payment plan that worked out for my budget. In addition to that, he calmed me as I was extremely upset and beyond Nervous. Dan was able to set the tone for all of the employees at David Gray and I felt very confident in allowing them onto my property and into my home. Dan is outstanding. I can’t say enough about him. You have a very valuable and kind man. Thank you, Dan for helping me through this process.

I purchased a home last month I was referred to them when my AC unit went out. The tech came out “fixed it”, sold me a maintenance plan because the drain line needed cleaned out and that would cost more than a maintenance plan alone. Next day my AC went out again, but this time my air filter was completely soaked. I called back and let the receptionist know and she informed me we can’t send anyone out until August for any maintenance services. I called back and talked to another associate who dispatched it as a recall since it stopped working so obviously the problem wasn’t fixed. Same tech arrives and says the same thing and cleans drain line and calls office to say this is a forced maintenance not a recall. Then 3 days later the AC stops working again over the weekend and they said we will send out a senior technician between 6-11pm on Monday. Monday evening a technician calls about 7:30PM and decides that he’s not going to come because the last technician said there was low voltage and he doesn’t know anything about that stuff and I’ll put you on schedule first thing tomorrow morning. We don’t have a senior tech on the schedule he’s took today off so don’t know why they scheduled it. Next morning I call to confirm we have someone coming out and I get no we can send a tech out tonight after 6pm. I asked to speak with a manager which was an act of congress to get one on the phone I had to explain everything and was on hold twice before the manager decided my call was worthy. I was told that I was just an unlucky duck in this situation and the techs work long shifts in the heat so I do apologize he didn’t come out but that’s it. I told them I’ll use Buehler another company as I was frustrated by this point. Buehler came out in 1 hour and found a wire burned up nearly severed connected to the capacitor and that’s been the issue. David Grey misdiagnosed it, sold me a maintenance plan and recommended a blower motor which was operating just fine and charged me $435 and never fixed the issue. Since Buehler came out our AC has worked with no issues over a week now. I would avoid David Grey at all costs and even after speaking to management they’ve lost me as a customer. I won’t even trust them to do any maintenance plans that I purchased. I rather chalk it up as a loss and move on. I just don’t want anyone else to have to experience that poor service all around.
