“FEMALE CUSTOMERS, BE AWARE!”

Charter Electric replaced my breaker box in 2022 following an inspection that deemed it non-compliant with the code. Despite this supposed upgrade, the breaker began tripping intermittently. The issue escalated when my tenant, during the recent cold weather, couldn't use the heater due to persistent tripping.

In an attempt to resolve the matter, I sought advice from an AC professional who identified wiring problems and recommended contacting the electric company. Having been assured a 5-year guarantee on their work, I reached out to Charter Electric. Scott, the person I spoke to, immediately adopted a defensive stance, vehemently denying any issues and accusing me of wasting their electrician's time.

Despite relaying the AC professional's assertion that the fault lay with Charter Electric's installation not meeting code requirements, Scott insisted on speaking to the AC professional and my tenant directly. Frustratingly, I, as the owner, found myself having to justify my request for an inspection.

Scott's response was aggressive, leading me to provide contact information for both the AC professional and my tenant. Unsurprisingly, they reiterated the same concerns. However, Scott shockingly asserted that Charter Electric's job was never to ensure installations met code standards; they merely replicated existing setups.

Upon requesting to speak with Joe, the installer responsible, I discovered he had been terminated. Despite this, Charter Electric showed reluctance to inspect Joe's subpar work. When I raised the prospect of involving my lawyer and leaving a negative review, Scott became even more hostile. He incessantly called, yelled, and resorted to name-calling.

To protect myself, I recorded these conversations and notified Scott of their potential use as evidence. When I finally ceased taking his calls, he resorted to sending misogynistic texts, suggesting that my male counterparts would better understand his position.

Frustrated by Charter Electric's lack of accountability, I had no choice but to hire another company, who promptly identified and rectified the problem in less than 10 minutes. They affirmed that Charter Electric should have addressed the issue in the first place.

This entire ordeal exposed Charter Electric's unprofessionalism, especially in their dealings with women. If you're considering their services, exercise caution and don't be swayed by seemingly positive reviews, as my experience was far from satisfactory. Scott threatened me to write a bad review for my company if I write to tell the truth about his awful treatments toward me!
I have our call recordings as well as his incredibly rude text messages where he told me if I “had a husband or a male business partner they would understand better!” Just trust me and stay away.

I would highly recommend Charter Electric. Joe came to my house and installed a ceiling fan, fixed my garbage disposal and added a security system. He was on time, very professional and easy to talk to. He explained everything in detail. Def my go to company without a doubt! 5 stars!!!

Had charter electric install some lights and outlets in a garage along with a 220V circuit for an EV charger. Kevin was super professional and helpful and walked me through all his steps - in particular why he was putting in GFCI outlets in some areas. Highly recommend and charter has earned my future business for sure.

I called the owner to complain about some work they did for me expecting him to honor the warranty and correct the issue I was having, instead I talked to a rude narcissist who tried to blame me for my problems!!…Paid big money too!!….I wouldn’t recommend my worst enemy to allow them to do work!!…Highly unprofessional!!!

I recently had the pleasure of working with Charter Electric, and I couldn’t be more impressed. Following a power surge from the grid that caused an outage at my home, Charter Electric was the fastest to respond compared to other local companies in Tampa. Kevin, the electrician, quickly and safely diagnosed the issue, which included a burned out home surge protector. He also provided recommendations for upgrading our current electrical circuit box. His expertise was evident, and he handled everything quickly while maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor.

Additionally, Scott, the owner, was exceptional in explaining the services provided and was completely transparent about the pricing. His responsiveness and clear communication made the entire process smooth and stress free. Charter Electric delivered prompt, knowledgeable service at a fair and reasonable price, and I highly recommend them to anyone in the area.

We had an amazing experience with Kevin from Charter Electric! He was super professional and clearly knew what he was doing. Kevin helped us install a flood light Ring camera, and even though we didn’t have a power source, he quickly created one for us. Additionally, he installed three pendant lights over our kitchen counter with a dim switch, and they look absolutely amazing. He also installed a fan in our living room, which works perfectly. Kevin will be our go-to electrician from now on. If you need any professional electrical work done at your home, Charter Electric is the company to go to, and be sure to ask for Kevin. Highly recommended!

Scott Akins the owner ripped me off! He took all my monies and said there was a 1 year warranty backing his company’s work.
The electrical job his workers installed for me does not work properly and is possibly in violation of code. The work performed has not been functioning properly for my electrical systems needs, and I learned that the installation does not meet the load requirements that I originally discussed multiple times with him and his technician. Scott only tries to upsell me after I paid approximately 5,000 already. So I paid all this money and my electricity does not run as needed.
I was also informed that a permit has NOT been pulled for the job, which has caused complications for me in trying to have the work inspected.

I reached out multiple times to request assistance and repairs under what I was told to be a one-year warranty. My interactions with the company owner Scott during this time were extremely rude, insulting and uncomfortable. I have documentation of these communications, including messages and a very inappropriate video at my home in my living room, which I have saved.

At this point, the system installed is not sufficient for the required load, and I am concerned about safety issues, including buzzing noises coming from the wiring. These are my observations, and I have not yet been able to get an official inspection due to Scott not having a permit on record.

My purpose in sharing this is to describe my experience, which has been stressful and disappointing, so that others may make informed decisions.
Any good reviews on here were about Kevin the worker he fired.
Kevin was my technician who I tried to have fix this, but he is no longer there. TRUST ME SCOTT the owner IS NOT A PROFESSIONAL BUSINESS MAN OF ANY SORT.

Five star service! Wade was extremely punctual, knowledgeable, and efficiently diagnosed and resolved my issues. He also took the time to educate me, as I had a blown breaker and also needed a surge protector as I had a surge fry my dishwasher. I highly recommend Onyx!
