Update, March 18, 2023:

A day or two after I wrote this review, the owner of the company, Mike, contacted me about this issue. A week later, the defective blocks were replaced. I am still leaving my one star review as a warning to prospective customers, though. It should not have taken nearly 10 months to get defective blocks replaced; but I do appreciate Mike stepping in to finally resolve the issue for me.

Original review, early March 2023:

After spending tens of thousands of dollars to have Georgia Outdoor Services install a retaining wall, patio, and sod, I’ve found that their “100% guarantee on all services” holds no water.

A week or two after they finished the job for us in May 2022, I noticed a few spots of the retaining wall where red clay was visible. Upon mentioning this to Hamilton Tate, our project manager, he said he had never seen anything like that before and was going to check with some colleagues to find out what could have caused that to happen. A few weeks later, Hamilton said he heard from someone else in the industry who had a customer that had the same stone we had and experienced the same issue. He said there was a supply chain issue getting more stone; but as soon as it was available, he would have someone come out to replace the defective portions of the wall.

Fast forward to February 2023 and I have had zero proactive communication from Hamilton about resolving this problem. I’ve contacted him three times about this issue. Most recently, in December 2022, Hamilton told me I was “at the top of the list” for repair once rainy weather cleared. It’s been two months since then and I’ve heard nothing else from Hamilton.

I cannot recommend Georgia Outdoor Services. Based on my experience, if anything goes wrong with your project, they’ll have your money and you’ll be stuck waiting on them to do repairs.

We had our retaining wall replaced and we are ecstatic about the final product. Hamilton was great to work with and his customer service is the best. We recommend Georgia Outdoor Services for all your outdoor living, landscaping services, retaining wall, plus more needs. Let Hamilton be the first person you call because you are getting the best of the best.

In the Summer of '22, we were faced with having to replace our extensive two-tier, railroad tie retaining walls in our backyard. After roughly 40 yrs, the walls had begun to rot and deteriorate significantly.

In the process, we had a few evaluations and estimates from various companies specializing in residential retaining walls resulting in us considering a couple different material options. We had to keep in mind a practical solution to maintain the sloping earth while wanting an aesthetically pleasing landscape feature. After careful consideration, we selected Georgia Outdoor Services, Hamilton and his team for the job. We cannot be more pleased with the entire process - from the beginning to the end. Hamilton was extremely communicative throughout, his installation team were very accommodating of adjustments along the way, performed quality work and were very conscious of leaving the worksite tidy every day up till the end.

We highly recommend Georgia Outdoor Services and will be using them in the future as the need arises. Quality work, quality people!

I had a fairly large project done by Hamilton and his team in Roswell. Hamilton was super communicative from the start. I didn’t really know what I wanted, but he came up with a great plan that my wife and I love. The price was fair and his workers knocked it out so fast (4 days). I’d recommend them to anyone!

I found Georgia Outdoor Services on FaceBook with great reviews and I must be honest, they deserve a 5 star rating! Hamilton and his crew did an amazing job transforming our backyard into our little paradise space. We described what we wanted, he helped us with the design and the product and gave us a fair price. He was honest and upfront about what we could expect and he delivered. We are extremely happy with the results! The whole job was completed in 2 days!! amazing results. They came recommended by a neighbor so I requested an estimate for a fence/deck project. A gentleman came over and talked through the project and all seemed doable and fine; he said he was going to take measurements and get back to me. Weeks went by without a word. A month went by. I texted him twice and got no response. I called the office to inquire and left a message but no one returned my call. Just an incredible waste of time.

After leaving my initial 1-Star review, the team at GA Outdoor Services reached out and we discovered the estimate was sent to the wrong email address. It is unfortunate my 3 attempts at following up with them were missed, but it was around the holidays and we all make mistakes. I was told by neighbors they are great to work with, so maybe ignore my review and lean into the ones that worked out. I wouldn't want one instance of unfortunate communication to overshadow the otherwise positive reviews from customers who actually got to work with them.

We just finished a paver patio project with Georgia Outdoor Services at our home in Dacula, GA, and we couldn’t be happier with the outcome. They installed a beautiful paver patio across the back of our home, completely transforming the space.

What was once unused backyard area is now a perfect spot for entertaining, grilling, and spending time with family and friends. The quality of the work is obvious—everything is level, solid, and professionally done with great attention to detail.

The crew was reliable, showed up on time, and communicated clearly throughout the project. If you’re in Dacula or the surrounding North Metro Atlanta area and looking for a company that knows how to build paver patios the right way, Georgia Outdoor Services is the one to call. Highly recommend.

I moved into a place in North Metro Atlanta that was basically a forest. The house was a good deal, but the yard needed a complete overhaul. Booking with Georgia Outdoor Services was easy — I scheduled online and got a confirmation right away.

Mike (the owner) came out to meet with my wife and me, listened to what we were trying to do, and came up with a design that actually fit our budget. His crew handled everything: tree removal, stump removal, grading the slope, and moving dirt to reshape the whole backyard. They built terraced retaining walls with Pavestone blocks and added steps through the center, which made the yard actually usable.

They put down Zeon Zoysia sod, mulched the beds, built a flagstone stepping stone path connecting to a Pavestone paver patio with a fire pit, and added a side walkway so I could move a dolly from the driveway to the basement without fighting the terrain. We made a small change mid-project and Mike handled it immediately since he was onsite almost every day.

The whole job took about two weeks, and they cleaned up daily. Seriously, the best landscaping/hardscape contractor I’ve worked with in Atlanta or anywhere else. Big thanks to the Georgia Outdoor Services team.

We couldn’t be happier with how our backyard turned out. What started as a challenging, sloped lot is now a beautiful, functional space that completely transformed our home. The scope of work was extensive — tree removal, grading, a decorative block retaining wall with steps, a paver patio, irrigation, and Zeon Zoysia sod — and everything was executed flawlessly.

The entire process was smooth from start to finish. Hamilton did an excellent job managing the day-to-day work, and Mike, the owner, was very hands-on and regularly checked in to make sure things were going well. The attention to detail and overall quality really stood out, and everyone who’s seen the backyard has been extremely impressed. We’d highly recommend them to anyone looking for high-quality outdoor work in the Dunwoody area.

I finally got around to replacing the railroad tie retaining walls that came with the house I purchased 24 years ago. I've replaced a few of the ties over the years but having biodegradable retaining walls is not a long term strategy. I cannot adequately explain how pleased I am with the results I got from Georgia Outdoor Services. The project cost was reasonable, and the service was excellent. Hamilton was great to deal with, and very helpful in selecting the blocks. The crew worked hard and efficiently to remove the old wall and install the new one. Esteban also suggested a wonderful solution to fix a preexisting drainage problem. Everything was cleaned up after the project and it just looks beautiful.

Good communication before coming and when he done by call and text. Friendly staffs and feel comfortable when we contact Ragsdale staffs.

I was having a problem with one of my zones. Radsdale sent a technician ( Rachid) to tune my furnace and review my zone. The furnace got a very good checking and my zone problem was corrected with an adjustment. Excellent service. Thank you Ragsdale

I have relied on Ragsdale for 25 years for HVAC, plumbing and electrical services. Very dependable, exceptional service, and excellent communication. Very trustworthy and they provide peace of mind...including showing up at midnight on a Saturday night in the middle of August when my HVAC unit went out. Who does that?

Thomas took great care and unstoped my pipe from my sink in my kitchen. Cleaned up when he was finished. Very nice young man.

I have used Ragsdale a few different times. They are quick to get to your problems. Every serviceman has been extremely nice and knowledgeable of repairs needed.

Dakota was very efficient & informative. He was professional & knowledgeable. Have been using Ragsdale since we moved to our current residence. We are happy with their service & costs. Have used them for heating/air and electrical.

Company is now owned by a corporation and inflated their prices. Wanted to charge me almost $200 a pound for Freon and I found other places doing recharge for $90 per pound.

This is the most courteous company have worked with. From the system install and the service I’ve received since has me committed to use all their services. Great job!

They zoned my upstairs system and didn’t get the wiring or settings correct, resulting in frigid cold air being delivered when I switched over to heat. Second technician said a new board would have to be ordered. No one called to provide any updates. Third technician installs new board and miswires it, resulting in aux heat operating continuously for 18 hours regardless of thermostat setting until I finally had to climb into the attic and turn unit off at circuit breaker. Fourth service call might be a charm as system may finally be working properly. Something has gone wrong with Ragsdale’s service. I wonder if it has anything to do with their scaling up the business to include plumbing and electrical services. Sometimes if upscaling isn’t done skillfully the core business suffers. In my case an improper installation and subsequent inattention to detail resulted in three additional service calls and at least ten wasted man hours fixing problems that shouldn’t have happened to begin with.

The service is great. I had an appointment but it was a month away so called today and they were able to set me up today as there was a cancellation. The office called to let me know the tech was 15 minutes away and the tech set me notice he was on the way and even sent his picture and information. He did all the maintenance and was efficient and courteous. Thank you for all you do for your customers.

Chris from Ragsdale did a great job diagnosing the HVAC system problem and communicated with us professionally. Although the issue isn't resolved yet, we are confident it will be as soon as parts are available.
