After over twenty years, many with six children tracking in sand and dirt, our floors were in need of a major overhaul. The original polyurethane coatings had yellowed to the point that the finer wood grain was hard to see.

We weren’t expecting miracles, but based on the reviews and comparisons, I trusted A-Max to do a quality job with a wood base that was very far from perfect. We were not disappointed in the least and the final work is beautiful.

Allan and Tyson dove into the job with enthusiasm and joy, having a great working relationship that was fun to observe. While seemingly endless anomalies in our wood brought obvious and sometimes hidden challenges, they tackled each particular problem with resolve, working extra long hours in sanding, and on the fine details to redeem this floor. They have a great concern to make the customer happy and our once dingy yellowed “red oak” floors now have beautiful grain with a nutmeg stain.
I was also impressed with their dedication to quality through up-to-date equipment, and clearly take pride in staying on top of their industry, while still providing very competitive pricing. Their powerful vacuuming system removed three very large bags of sanding dust, with basically no dust settling elsewhere.

But the greatest joy was how personable and delightful they were to work and converse with during the whole process. We highly recommend A-Max Hardwood Floors!

We have a SEA of hardwood in our home. We had A-Max refinish our floors last winter and their UV finishing process was marvelous. Even better than the UV process was the professional service and superior craftsmanship. They did a great job refinishing our floors! Fast forward 6 months... we had a devastating water event which took out a very unfortunate section of our hardwood that would have been difficult for anyone to match/blend without refinishing the entire floor. Once again their professionalism and craftsmanship came through. Great Team. Super Integrity. If you're looking to have a new floor installed or an older floor refinished, look no further!

We moved into a new home with hardwood floors. The previous owners had a dog and were super tough on these floors. They were covered in scratches, staining and water damage throughout. A-Max came in and refinished the floors and did a water based finish. Our floors look brand new! Couldn't be happier. We would recommend A-Max to anyone who is looking to have their floors refinished.

A-Max recently installed cherry wood (in place of carpeting) to match our existing cherry wood floors. Eli, our floor specialist, also refinished the existing wood. He beautifully integrated the new floor with the old flooring and made the old cherry wood look completely brand new. There were deep gouges that I didn't think would ever disappear but he pulled it off. His attention to detail was excellent and his communication was top notch. Everyone we worked with at the company was very friendly and informative. We are extremely happy with the outcome and would definitely recommend this company.

I had my carpeting replaced with hardwood, which required matching the new hardwood with existing hardwood. It would have to be an exact match or it would be very obvious and my floors were 8 years old. A-Max came in and was able to identify my hardwood the type and size at a glance and matched it perfectly, and my floors were not the average buy at Home Depot wood. They finished exactly when they said they would. The price estimate was spot on. They were very professional, everyday they cleaned up before leaving and the installers were very respectful of my home and my family. My whole downstairs is now hardwood and it looks beautiful. Talk about a miracle. These guys came to my home on time for the bid, I received my bid exactly when they said I would. Left us a folder of information on their company and employees and process. Followed up with an email and call. The most professional people I have ever worked with and I felt so conformable talking to them and knowing that they got exactly what I was looking for. I am so thankful we had A-Max Hardwood refinish our floors. Night and day difference. They were on time for the process and cleaned everything up after they were done. I feel like I have a brand new floor and only paid half the price. I would highly recommend this company for any hardwood refinish or installation of new hardwood. A-Max Hardwood Floors did a fantastic job refinishing our maple floors!! The water based finish cured much faster and with less residual odor than previous oil based finish and the recommended matte finish looks beautiful and seems more durable than our old gloss finish. We used A-Max for a maintenance finish on our hardwood floor. The floor was about 6 years old, and the finish was looking a little worn. Tyson provided a competitive quote and was great to work with. Richard did an amazing job cleaning, buffing, and recoating the floor. He took extra time to fix a loose board and fill in some cracks with epoxy. The floor looks beautiful now. I would use A-max again.

We received 5 different quotes for refinishing our hard wood floors. A-max was not the least expensive but they were by far the most informative and professional. I appreciated that they didn't charge extra for refinishing under appliances or dust removal, other companies did! They showed me samples of what my floors would look like with the finish options, others could barely describe it. We had them do the UV curing last week, and are 100% satisfied with our floors and with A-max! We didn't have any surprises, it went exactly as they told us it would. We will definitely use them again and would recommend them to anyone!

My experience with A-Max was extra positive and professional. I called 3 different companies to get quotes to have my hardwoods restored. One company didn't even show up, the other was 45 minutes late and didn't seem like they knew what they were doing. When Tyson Frye from A-MAX showed up to do my estimate he was on time, took his shoes off before entering my home and was extra professional. He sent me a quote that same night which was less expensive than the other company.
When the crew showed up to do the job they were also on time and explained what they would be doing. Matt and Donny did an awesome job and my floors look better than I could have ever imagined. This team is the absolute best when it comes to hardwood flooring. My husband and I are writing this review as the owners of Icon Construction and Remodeling. A-Max has done multiple restoration and hardwood jobs for us in the north end. We've had houses with flooring that looked as if they had no hope, but when Allen and the team came in and did their thing, they were able to restore them like new. We had water damage in our kitchen that necessitated removal of a large portion.
A-Max came in and matched to our current flooring perfectly. They also replaced some water damaged flooring in the bathroom from years ago.
Once replaced, they cleanly and quickly sanded down over 1100 ft^2 including a full wooden staircase. The natural water-based polyurethane gave such a nice clean look to the floors.

A-Max completed the job in ~4 days. The dust was much less than I expected. They were also more reasonable in price compared to 2 other quotes we received.
The next time we get our floors refinished, we'll definitely be using A-Max again!
