This is a professional plumbing supply place that also sells to the public. Great service, great inventory with prices close to the big box retailers. Never condescending or rude. Highly recommended.

My Rheem/Richmond water heater died on Thanksgiving I replaced the thermocouple but the gas valve was bad too. After 2 trips to Menards for a part that didn't match. And a trip to Lowe's in Anderson where the employee was rude and talked over my question.

I jumped on Google for Plumbing Supply and Winthrop didn't even make the list!? Well I was referred by another place. And let me tell you I could've ordered it online and waited 5 days or drove 45 minutes to Winthrop Supply. No brainer for me.

Couldn't be happier with the results and experience. They've got a customer for life in me.

Went to get a new water heater. Got home; got it out of the box, and it was pretty badly damaged. They gave us the option of returning it and exchanging it (with absolutely no compensation), or keeping it and they'll take $30 off. Neither were good options. So that was unfortunate. Other than that, nice people.

I like Winthrop supply because the location of the place being where it's located helps me feel more comfortable in doing business with the location and the people that work inside leaves me feeling like I just done business with a small town business with a big city company with any needs I could have i could pull up go inside do my business and right back out . They seem to be happy with what they do for a living and if they are happy with their work than they know all about their work, I feel like you could get answers for any questions you may have and feel like you are not a problem for asking . I believe that customers who shop here continue to shop here for years to come.

From the moment you walk in the door, and greeted by the staff at Winthrop you know your in good hands. No frills or extraordinary markup just a good old-fashioned supply house that treats you like family. Parking can be a little difficult when busy but worth the hassle. If you haven't yet, go say hello to the excellent people at Winthrop.

I am NOT a plumber and I went into Winthrop looking for a replacement packing nut for a really old water shut off valve that was leaking. I didn't get the name of the gentleman that helped me but he was really helpful and gave me a length of graphite rope gratis and said it was probably my best bet as a band aid for fixing my leak. I ended up buying a complete valve assembly with a packing nut that looked comparable to mine and using the packing nut from that to fix my leak (which worked), but I appreciate his willingness to help and that he wasn't condescending like a previous place I had been. The leak is fixed and I have already recommended this place to others. There is sometimes more than one way to fix a problem and he didn't assume I was incompetent. That goes a long way in my book. Thanks!

Great place with super helpful staff! They have me for free 2 PVC drain fittings to try, which one would be right for me. Brought them back with peace of mind, no receipt needed, just on a good word. An awesome old school store.

Winthrop is the best plumbing shop in the world !

I read a posted review while at Lowe’s - “I’ll never go to a big box again.” They did not have what I needed, nor the people to advise me. I went to Winthrop’s, saw three plumbing contractors’ trucks in front, and thought “this is the place for me.” I was right - helpful, completely prepared for my needs, and very cost-effective. I’m a customer for good now.

mom's house garage was flooded because of busted water pipe. I called big contractors and held me for wait continously.
May way answered right away. Told working on one project. Came and fixed with reasonable price.

They came quickly after I called and got the job done fast. They took the time to explain to me what was going on and next step if it happens again. The price was a lot lower than I expected and they even lowered it since they got it done in less than an hour. I also love that it is a family owned business. Highly recommend this company.

I had an issue with replacing my Rinnai tankless water heater and gave Sam a call. He had me send him a photo, and walked me through how to uninstall the old unit over the phone. He didn’t have to do this but took the time…and I was able to get the old unit out on my own. It says a lot about someone’s integrity when they’re giving advice without a charge. If I have any future issues I’ll be using May Plumbing! Forget the big guys, they can’t touch the personal service that Sam and May Plumbing provided.
