We worked with Abundant Design for our property in DSM. We could not be more pleased. The city of DSM had some very specific guidelines for what they wanted us to do. Jeff followed them as well as added some storm water management and native plantings--which enabled us not only to help the environment but also to get a sizable rebate from the city! Edible landscape (for people-not wildlife) was also important for us--once again, Jeff came through with great ideas--we now have apple trees, asparagus, service berries, black berries, strawberries, raspberries, aronia plants, and herbs. Jeff provided instructions for caring for the plantings and they have done well these last 3 months. Jeff is very knowledgeable and very easy and professional to work with. We highly recommend Abundant Design!

Working with Jeff at Abundant designs has been a genuine pleasure. After contacting 3 other landscapers that seemed to have minimal knowledge, not a lot of creativity, and one that never showed up , I found Jeff and Abundant Design. I easily made the decision to work with Jeff. This was the best decision ever! I have had 2 other homes professionally landscaped, and Jeff and crew have far surpassed my previous experiences. Jeff designed and planted the new landscaping for my custom built home in West DesMoines. His designs are creative, unique and involved many conversations with me to insure that that he would get it "just right" for me. Always professional, incredibly knowledgeable, always on time, and a really great guy, Jeff's help has been invaluable to me. He has advised me about the care of each planting and has made some helpful suggestions. His care and patience and willingness to spend time "tweaking" the design and spending time with me have impressed me every step of the way. This has been a real collaboration and I am grateful to have a landscaper that cares about my project as much as I do.
It has been my extreme pleasure to work with Jeff and his crew. I will be expanding my landscaping projects next year. Abundant Design is my only choice!

We recently had some rain runoff issues in our backyard between our house and neighbors, that were causing erosion and puddling in all the wrong places. After researching drainage solutions, it was decided on to go with a dry river bed.

The installation was straightforward, and we appreciated how Jeff and his crew customized it with different rocks, stones, and even a few drought-tolerant plants along the edges. It’s low maintenance, eco-friendly, and solved the drainage problem without the need for unsightly pipes or trenches.

Highly recommend Abundant Design to anyone dealing with similar runoff issues. It’s functional, attractive, and adds character to the yard—win-win!

We have worked with Jeff on several projects over the last five years. The largest project spans the entire length of our backyard. The landscaping manages quite a bit of water and is also beautiful and easy to maintain. He was back this week to repair a portion of the landscaping that was damaged by a city project. He was more than willing to come back to our property multiple times over the last year as we worked through the process of dealing with the city and getting repairs covered. We look forward to working with Jeff again as future projects arise.

Jeff/Abundant Design did a fantastic job on water/rain problems during the big rains. We were getting water in the basement and water pooling on the south side of our house. Jeff explained everything they were going to do to fix it. It was done to the highest standards, and the crew was fantastic. They were knowledgeable and addressed all questions and concerns. The project was completed on time and I could not ask for better results. We would like to thank you and your crew for all your hard work. Everything drains away from the house and we are so relieved. We highly recommend Jeff and Abundant Design.

We found Jeff through the Des Moines Rehabbers group. Once we contacted him, we realized he had done work all around Des Moines that we loved (including at Drake!). Jeff was great to work with. He designed and created the yard of our dreams. We had him plan our front and backyard, and he and his crew removed sod and planted all our new plants. They also took our vision of a dry bed for rainwater and made it better than we could have imagined. He included fruit trees, edible and beneficial plants and flowers, built a new vegetable garden, reworked our old raised bed gardens, and created a space we finally want to be outside in and enjoy. He has also been helpful and patient with our emails since the hard labor has finished - answering questions about specific plants, finding an arborist, etc. He and his crew are knowledgeable, hardworking, speedy, respectful, and helpful! We highly recommend using Jeff and Abundant Design.

Abundant Design fixed a retaining wall and installed a rain garden for me in 2023 and added to it in 2024. This year, a tree fell on my house, and Jeff and crew were amazing in checking up on the yard immediately and putting my rain garden, retaining wall, and fence back together. The rain garden has been one of my favorite purchases, and I'm so excited to see it bounce back next year.

Jack did a great job communicating with me and making sure our project turned out exactly how we wanted it to. His crew did a wonderful job in a great timeframe! I would absolutely use them again.

Working with Jack and his company has been amazing. The installation of my project was completed on time and at the agreed upon price. With Iowa weather/winters a few issues came up after a few seasons and Jack responded by fixing the issues or addressing concerns in a timely manner. Most contractors would let the follow up items or additional concerns go, not Jack! Jack and team worked hard to help my project stay in great shape and fix anything that had come up. I will recommend Jack and team to everyone I know for outdoor needs. Also, I will use Jack every time I have a future project. Thanks for everything Jack!
