Dan has done several landscape design projects at both my home and my commercial properties. Each project has resulted in huge improvements to the properties. Dan is very easy to work with does a great job of presenting various landscape options. When I wanted to make some tweaks to the plan, he would modify the drawings and get them back to me within a day. His final drawings are very detail oriented, making it very easy to get bids on the project and for the landscapers to complete the work. I recommended Dan to one of my neighbors, who just completed their project last week, and they are also thrilled with the results. I will never attempt another landscaping project without Dan's assistance!

Dan is a true pro in his field (no pun). We have used All By Design KC (Dan Hanson) for two projects now. His vision for hard/landscaping captures OUR vision as conveyed to him. His designs are based on the long range view (i.e., healthy plants grow and will look different and fit differently in a given space in 10 and 20 years). He considers and incorporates the existing plants and terrain, where appropriate, which saves you money in the end. He has an excellent grasp on the types of plants that thrive locally. His written graphic plans are thorough, easy to read and understand, and give you a very clear idea of what the final product will look like. We HIGHLY recommend All By Design!

We hired Dan to redesign our backyard, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. He really listened to what we wanted and came up with a design that was both beautiful and functional. He enlarged our patio, made the space more usable, and recommended trees that now give us much more privacy. The final result turned out even better than we imagined. Highly recommend!

This was my first time working with a landscape designer. Dan was amazing. He helped to completely redesign our entire yard. All sides of our home now looks amazing. The natural bolder retaining wall is also a very unique touch. Something different from the rest of our neighbors and compliments our home nicely. We recently did a new deck build so the design around the deck compliments the double-tiered deck and patio very nicely. Dan incorporated the all season color I was looking for but also helped create landscaping that I could afford. I would highly recommend All By Design KC for any landscaping project. Worth every penny.
I had designed my own backyard patio and was pricing pavers out with local KC supplier. Once I started to realize the amount of work and material cost I was getting into I started thinking that maybe I should get a professional's advice on my " Grand Design". I asked the paver supplier if there was anyone local who worked with homeowners on smaller projects. His first recommendation was "All by Design". I contacted Dan, the owner of All by Design, and later that day I dropped off my design and pictures I had collected of the look I wanted in my patio. For a nominal fee, Dan came out to my house and took some measurements of the back of the house and took some elevation readings as well. Within a few days I met with Dan and he went over the design that he came up with. ten minutes into our meeting I was so glad I had a professional look at my design and pictures.
Dan's design achieved the look I was going for in every aspect. It was a much more elegant design that would fit the back of the house and my yard much better than my design.
As I was going to be building this patio myself with my son's help, having a professionals design to go by really made if feasible to do so. Dan's design was much easier to construct and avoided about a half dozen pitfalls that were in my original design.
Dan also gave me excellent advice on construction techniques and materials that i wasn't aware of. His advice saved me money on materials and more importantly a lot of time in constructing the patio.
I would highly recommend Dan if you’re looking to add a patio or outdoor landscaping project, whether you’re going to have it built or do it yourself.

Dan of All By Design KC provided us excellent service from design, sourcing bids from landscape companies, to project oversight. Dan in essence not only developed the overall landscape design but was able to serve as our general contractor.

Design - we have lived in our house for nearly 18 years and our landscaping was pretty much limited to what the builder put in when new. Our request was for him to present us a design around the entire house, looking to enhance our curb appeal and our outdoor living space out back. His design nailed it! Bringing in a variety of plants, trees, stone walkways, a water feature and a beautiful lighting design. Most importantly Dan was able to address a long standing drainage problem in our backyard.

General Contractor - Dan made it easy, he presented us with three bids from quality landscape companies, gave us insight into the each company and coordinated all contracting. Dan was onsite everyday to ensure the project was moving along as designed. His onsite presence was particularly beneficial when we made some design changes during installation for which he was open to and extremely helpful in discussing our alternatives. Dan as the GC made the whole project run seamlessly and made it effortless on our part.

In summary, Dan can do it all when it comes to landscaping your home to enhance its beauty.
