Never thought I'd ever say an HVAC check was a pleasant experience, but here I am, saying it! Jake G. was extremely through and found a small but very important problem (as in fire hazard!) that other companies have overlooked for years, in their rush to sell me a whole new system! He was very professional and didn't mind explaining things as he went. He definitely went above and beyond. No pressure about replacing my old unit, but I do plan to get an estimate from them.

We had a great experience with AJ Michaels for our HVAC work. Every single employee we encountered was very professional and courteous. They explained everything in detail and made sure that we were satisfied with the work. The crew did a great job at the install, they kept the house neat throughout. As an energy efficiency professional myself, I can attest that the quality of the installation is very good too. I am super happy with the price, the service, and quality of work.

It's rare that I leave a review, and I don't think I've ever gushed about a contractor, but A.J. Michaels deserves a great review for going above and beyond in every way with the purchase and installation of our heat pump.

Beginning with the quote, A.J. Michaels came in far lower than the other two companies I had come in. Paul, the estimator, actually looked at what I had and listened to what I wanted to accomplish. He was the only one who provided a quote for a job that would fully satisfy my goals, which were getting off of oil heating and removing the oil tank. I'm still not sure why I couldn't get anyone else to agree to do that.

As for installation, Kyle and DJ, the technicians, were polite, professional, and friendly. They came on time, laid plastic down on the carpet to make sure they wouldn't stain it, showed me what they were going to do, answered all my questions, and respected my need for them to wear masks. Most importantly, they went out of their way to respect my need to work in my home office while they completed the installation. They even made sure that we had heat before they left the first day because of the cold weather.

Since the installation, which went very well, they have contacted me to make sure that I was satisfied with the job, and even brought a small box of cookies by as a thank you. I don't know about the rest of you, but I generally find it hard to get a contractor to show up at all, let alone provide such an extremely high level of service.

We've had our heat pump running for a month now, in cold and hot weather. It's extremely quiet and does a much better job regulating the temperature then the old oil furnace and AC unit ever did. Best of all, we've gotten rid of that heating oil smell and have a lot more room in our utility room since the tank is gone!

I would highly recommend A.J. Michaels for every single aspect of their performance and price.

I got multiple estimates on switching from oil to gas heat and installing a hot water heater, along with adding an additional heating zone. AJ Michaels had the best price. Paul came to my home and we discussed in detail the various options. We talked on more than one occasion, just to make sure that we had a clear understanding of what I wanted. They were highly organized and had great communication with scheduling everything to complete the project, which also included installation of a chimney liner and the removal of my oil tank. This was a huge project. The technicians Rick, Ricky, and Anthony did an amazing job. Very professional. Quality workmanship. They completed the project, and I was incredibly happy with the results. I felt that they definitely went above and beyond. AJ Michaels is a quality company, and I would recommend them.

We have been customers of AJMichaels for over 20 years and have always been very happy with the service we have received. AJMichaels are always very responsive and go out of their way to help with any plumbing, heating, or air conditioning problem we may be having. We had some issues with our kitchen plumbing and ended up needing some invasive digging and demo in the basement to replace pipes that were no doubt put in when the house was built in the 1930's. We feel much better now that this problem was fixed by AJMichaels. The crew that worked in my house was friendly, respectful, and punctual! I highly recommend!

We use these guys regularly for our AC/heating maintenance. So when our water heater went out this morning we gave them a call. Not only did they make it over a full 2 hours before they were originally estimated to come out, but they're installing a brand new water heater for us as we speak. Can't give them enough compliments -- they're great! And $1800 for a last minute water heater install ain't bad either. We will continue to use them as long as we live in the Baltimore area.

I appreciated the professional service that was given prior to and during a recent AC installation. Everyone on the phone was helpful and professional. The technicians were on time and even finished early! The company offered some window units to hold us over until their crew was scheduled.

We have 12-year-old high-efficiency HVAC system with a Spacepak and flexible tubing (not duct work) in the attic of our house. During a routine maintenance visit, the tech from the company that originally installed our system claimed that we needed to replace the entire system although we had not had any problems.

He insisted the system was rusty and moldy (but could not be cleaned) and that the coolent (which had never leaked or caused any issues) was obsolete per the EPA. He gave us an estimate of $16,000!!!

We desperately searched for an HVAC company that could service a Spacepak and fortunately found A. J. Michaels. We could not have been more pleased with their service.

Jimmy, the supervisor, came out quickly and gave us an estimate of $160 to clean the Spacepak with bleach and install a tube (which the original company had forgotten to install) to keep the HVAC system from drawing in moisture from outside.

Jake, a pleasant and smart young technician, arrived a few days later to quickly clean the system and install the tubing up in the attic. Amazing service at an unbelievable price.

I just had Mitsubishi heat pumps installed by AJ Michaels in an old row home in Baltimore. They did a fantastic job and I am very happy with their service.

Air conditioner was not working. I have severe asthma and need AC desperately during the summer months. Samantha was nice enough to send out a technician same day. Our technician Jake G. was absolutely fantastic. Had us up and running in under 30 minutes. Was very professional and double checked everything was working before he left. We purchased both our units A few years ago from AJ Michael’s and the work was covered by warranty. They stand behind their work and we highly recommend them !!!

In a world where customer service seems to be evaporating, this company has exceeded my expectations. My entire experience from the first call to get a quote through the installation of the unit, AJ Michaels has been straightforward and very professional. Going with a local company I can tell a difference between AJ Michaels vs a larger competitor. I did not feel like a random account but a valued customer. This was even before I decided to purchase anything! I would absolutely recommend AJ Michaels for your HVAC needs.

AJ Michaels has performed 2 major jobs for us in the last year (boiler replacement and pipe replacement). My wife and I are very satisfied with ALL aspects of our experience with AJ Michaels. Every part of the interface with AJ Michaels has been great. The salesman/consultant, Paul, was honest and expert on the system and its installation. The Mitsubishi ductless AC system is excellent, and the installation crew, Rick & staff, were outstanding.

I have been a customer of AJ Michaels for years. They initially replaced my oil boiler over 10 years ago with a gas boiler, and I recently hired them to install Mitsubishi Mini Splits. They are not the least-expensive company, but I think the best. In every project they have worked on in my house; they have always provided outstanding service from the office to the site.

I want to thank Misty for her outstanding customer support, and Bianca in the office, Ryan for his knowledge and expertise, Rick and his helper Tony for the outstanding job they did retrofitting mini splits in my 95-year-old house. Some of the work (and solutions) Rick performed were outstanding. The same goes to Paul, who installed my boiler, and sold me the mini splits. I would also like to thank “Little Ricky” and Ed for their conscientious, maintenance support.

I know it is a lot of names, but it is well-deserved.

Chris came to our home to check on a leaking valve. He not only worked on the valve but checked on the leak I found coming from my water heater. Then I asked him questions about possible other leaks from pipes in my ceiling. He was patient, helpful, knowledgeable, professional and so very nice. I would highly recommend A.J. Michaels for any kind of plumbing, heat or air conditioning issues. You won't find another company that has employees like A.J. Michaels. Even the office staff are wonderful. 18 yo furnace and AC crapped out in the middle of the cold snap of January 2025. Last year I was thinking about replacing, but waited another season. It's not an inexpensive project. Got two quotes then: one from AJ Michaels and the other from a major competitor that advertises a lot in the Baltimore/Washington/Annapolis corridor. Michaels' quote was just over half what the other one was. When it failed this month, I went with Michaels, they updated the quote. Still about half the other. AND with same/better equipment. Install day came. The crew was early, and had to work in my outside utility room from 7:30 am to 4 pm or so on a 15 Degree day. IT was brutal. The install was professional. The crew was very professional. Everything was tidy when they left. I had a lot of trepidation about this, worried something wasn't going to go right. I could not be happier. I hope to never need more than routine checkups/maintenance. But I can tell you going forward AJ Michaels gets all my business.

Sadly, there is nothing higher than 5 *. From the very beginning we could not have asked for better service and communication. Upon our first phone call, we were treated with complete respect. The sales person Mike, was so knowledgeable and understanding. We did not feel any pressure at all. He took into account my allergies, and made his recommendation. Samantha in the office, was so sweet and understanding and did not make me feel like I was asking silly questions. The team that installed our furnace was so nice and helpful. They made sure we understood about our new system. Today the crew came to remove our old oil tank. Again, they were very nice and got the job done quickly. We are so happy with the entire experience.

I've had A.J. Michaels out to my home twice, once for HVAC service, once for a water heater job, and I was pleased both times. They are honest about the condition of your systems and do not try to convince you to replace aging systems when not needed. I very much appreciate this given I've experienced two other vendors who try to use scare tactics and high pressure sales to get you to replace rather than repair. A.J. Michaels is truly local and I hope they say that way. I am comfortable dealing with them and recommend them.

AC Installers were punctual, respectful and did excellent work. They put down protective plastic and paper and cleaned up afterwards. System is working great!
