There company is very easy to work with and very professional to deal with. Also the person that did my chimney was very friendly with me and explained what he done to the chimney.

We just had Jason out to clean and inspect our woodstove and chimney. He was honest, professional and informative. He educated me on what he was doing, what he found and what I should keep an eye on in the future. We've struggled to find a good chimney service in the last few years but we've now found one to stick with! Thank you!

McDowell's provided us with very professional service for our nearly 75-year-old chimney and fireplace. Everyone we worked with was pleasant, knowledgeable, on time, and respectful of our property. We initially worked with Jason to get an inspection and estimates for exterior chimney work and a variety of options for our existing, but damaged, wood-burning fireplace. We decided to begin with the exterior chimney work which included, among other things, tearing down and rebuilding 9 courses of bricks, cutting/replacing/repointing numerous other bricks, installing a new crown, cleaning, and waterproofing. That work was done by Rich and Eddie both of whom were top-notch. Rich in particular took the time to patiently answer all of our questions. We give them our highest recommendation and plan to call them back once we decide what we want to do with our existing fireplace.

Glad to have a company that will do what they say. I found Wayne and Jason upfront and fair with every aspect of of our dealings. The other companies I contacted promised a “free inspection” but only came out and glanced at our issues. I felt the small charge very reasonable for the time and effort they put into the process. This is my house, my safety, my peace of mind and am glad to have it done right the first time ! I highly recommend them !!!

The guys were on time and got right to work. Explained options for converting a fireplace to gas or wood and patient with questions. Were very thorough, cleaned the existing fireplace (I have two) and left the house spotless. Very satisfied and would recommend them to others.

These folks are the real deal…not just black top hats and bushy flue brushes! We’ve been dealing with water problems from our 12-foot, 78-year-old Catonsville stone chimney for decades; there have been three or four different companies over the years that have performed cosmetic repairs, some of which actually helped somewhat. Other chimney companies, when I told them I have a stone chimney that may need repointing, ran for the hills.

But Jason at McDowell’s Complete Chimney Service inspected the chimney thoroughly and said that repointing the mortar joints was the only practical repair if I wanted to stop the seepage. He offered some short-cut possibilities, but gave me fair warning. McDowell’s has a full-time professional mason on staff and repointing stone was of no concern at all. Rich and helpers set-up the necessary scaffolding, covered the roof with protective carpets, and went to work removing the old mortar by chipping deeply, not just surface-grinding. Rich’s finished work, even to matching the color of the mortar in our other stone work, is absolutely beautiful! When completed, everything was cleaned-up; you’d never know they were there except for a beautiful chimney. I couldn’t be happier and I’m pleased to recommend McDowell’s to anyone.

We had a phenomenal experience with McDowell’s Chimney Service. We had interesting issues with our chimney, including a water leak and possible structural issues. We had two companies come for an inspection, McDowell’s being the second. Rich and his partner came from McDowell’s. They were very professional and their recommendations for us were much simpler, and less expensive than the first company. I asked a lot of follow up questions with their owner Jason and I was reassured that this was the best way to go. Jason made sure they completed our project in the tight time frame we needed to work with our other contractors. The entire team was kind, had great knowledge, and a common sense way of getting the job done correctly and safely. Compared to the first company, they saved us a lot of head ache that would have torn up some of our main floor and cost more money. Call them!
