Home Services reviews in Washington, Maryland

As a repeat customer of Ginkgo Garden in Washington DC, I'm sad to say that my most recent visit has ensured I won't be returning.
The experience started poorly when I noticed three employees assisting a single customer while others, including myself, waited for help. This seemed inefficient and unfair.
After browsing for a while, I approached the register, where I waited patiently for 10 minutes to make my purchase. An older white male employee was working the counter. Just as it seemed to be my turn, he blatantly skipped over me to serve two older white women who had just arrived.
When I finally interacted with this employee, he was rude and dismissive. His behavior made me feel unwelcome and disrespected as a customer.
It's unfortunate that poor customer service and what appeared to be discriminatory treatment have ruined my relationship with this nursery. There are plenty of other options in the DC area for garden supplies, and I'll be taking my business elsewhere from now on. -
Nice selection of plants though nothing rare sold here. They are unstaffed and the space is tight and plants are marked up at least 20% more than online, big box stores that have same plants.

Had the most amazing experience! We went in to pick up supplies to repot my monstera but ended up utilizing their repotting service instead.
The entire staff was super friendly and helpful. They did an amazing job repotting my monstera and gave me so many helpful tips and feedback on what I was doing right/wrong. It’s a great place for beginners and pros -
This store is small but mighty. It has the BEST prices in the area and I've seen plants in new pots that I've never come across before. I have found decently sized monsteras and prince of orange philodendrons here for an amazing price and great quality. I'd absolutely recommend this place! Parking can be easy depending on the time of day you go; there is street parking available. :)

I contracted with Gingko Gardens in Spring 2022 to design and implement a 350 sq. ft. private urban roof garden at my condo near Catholic University with a budget of no more than $6,000. The project, while straightforward enough, had one huge catch: there was no water source on the roof! Landscape designer Thomas Kapfer's brilliant solution was to create the roof top deck garden around something quite new on the market, a "self-watering planter" from Canada. My large rectangular planters have a water reservoir in the bottom of the planter than can hold 20 gallons of water for about 6 weeks, so no need for regular watering for long periods of time even when there is no rain. The planters are filled with a variety of sun-loving, drought-resistant,sweet-smelling perennials, such as Russian sage, catmint, butterfly plants, hummingbird flowers, grasses and 2 vines, honeysuckle and a tangerine trumpet vine. I plan on enjoying this garden, which took about 5 months from first contact on the shop's web site to final installation, for years to come. And I am sure it has significantly enhanced the value of my condo when it comes time to sell - not an unimportant consideration these days.

I always love to submerge myself in this wonderful slice of heaven. They have a plethora of different plants and amazing variety. I lose myself at every turn. Something different catches my eye from the statues, pottery. waterfall…Best kept secret on the Hill

I ran into a girl carrying a huge monstera plant and couldn’t help but ask to take her photo. She indulged my random request and recommended I check out Ginkgo Gardens about 3 blocks away. Ginkgo Gardens is a hidden gem in Capitol Hill. It is a plant lover’s heaven. The shop has a big variety of plants for all plants lovers. The staff is knowledgeable and willing to help and give advice on how to care for your new plants. I recommend this shop to anyone who wants to bring some greenery into their space or just need a nice place to walk around and admire the lush plants.

Very pretty location, helpful staff, fair prices and there is even a (friendly) kitty cat at the counter!

Just moved here from Miami & have been searching for a new fav plant shop. Ive explored so many & this one is definitely it! Great selection of plants at reasonable prices. They have an outdoor & indoor section plus an upstairs portion. I’ve gotten so many plants from here already. The staff is also friendly & helpful. Recommend.

I’ve recently been working on a project to improve a row home front yard after a sewage pipe replacement. Dealing with clay soil and elevated beds has been difficult, so we went here for some feedback and help.
First off the quality of products is better than anything else in the district. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful and spent plenty of time with us.
If you want to support a small business that treats customers right and knows what they are doing, you should go to Ginko Gardens. -
Exceptional customer service. These people are incredibly kind and go above and beyond to help you. Big shout out to Murphy for your assistance!

Some of the plants sold here did not have any roots, so what chance do they have in surviving? The other plant we bought was fine though, still this nursery need to either check their greenhouse or suppliers for rooted plants.

Wonderful selection, great service, adorable cat! What more could you ask for??? Also while waiting for our uber, an employee noticed us being attacked by mosquitoes and brought us bug spray. 11/10!

I highly recommend this place for your plant needs in DC area.
The selection for plants, specially indoor plants, are unbeatable in this store. I probably spent over an hour here yesterday and could have easily spent more time. For me, I really appreciated their selection of indoor vines because I just don’t see don’t frequently. -
Bought our Christmas tree there this year. After experiencing not so great service at a nearby gardening center, it was a refreshing change to shop at Ginkgo. We received friendly and genuinely caring service. Plus our tree is beautiful! Highly recommend.

Wonderful and knowledgeable staff! Such a pleasant experience and they have a plethora of indoor and outdoor plants. I looked high and low for a fiddle Leaf fig tree in dc and finally found one here, a beautiful one at that, for an amazing price! I will get all of my plants here from now on. Thank you so much!!

Great store. Great knowledge. Decent prices and such a variety. It's a great small business to support. But your plants here!
-
My go-to garden store in DC! Great place to go for all your gardening needs and you’re shopping local (instead of those big box stores). Great selection of annuals and perennials.

I finally had the chance to stop by Ginkgo Gardens, and it completely exceeded my expectations. There is a WIDE variety of plants, planters, tools, and more! During checkout, I told the man I was just beginning my gardening journey and he pulled out this book to help me with the plants I bought today! Thank you so much for the amazing experience and exceptional customer service. This isn’t the closest plant nursery to me, but it is 100% worth the trip. I will definitely be back soon!
